The gigantic golden hand burst through the sanctuary floor.
Stone shattered.
Ancient pillars cracked.
Dust filled the air.
Everyone stumbled backward as a powerful wave of energy swept through the hall.
The bells throughout the sanctuary rang wildly.
Then suddenly...
Everything became still.
A blinding golden light emerged from the enormous c***k.
Slowly, a towering figure rose from beneath the sanctuary.
He was over twenty feet tall.
Golden armor covered his body.
Ancient runes glowed across his chest and arms.
Long silver hair flowed down his back.
His eyes shone like miniature suns.
The very air around him seemed alive with celestial energy.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
Even the Guardians looked terrified.
The giant surveyed the hall silently.
His gaze moved across the gathered crowd.
Then it stopped on Sanyukta.
For a brief moment, his expression softened.
"The First Key..."
His deep voice echoed through the sanctuary.
Sanyukta felt a strange warmth spread through her chest.
Almost as if she knew him.
Almost as if she had met him before.
Which was impossible.
The giant slowly knelt before her.
The entire sanctuary shook from the impact.
Everyone stared in disbelief.
One of the most powerful beings they had ever seen was kneeling before a twenty-two-year-old girl.
Aryan leaned toward Randhir.
"I feel underdressed."
Randhir ignored him.
The giant lowered his head respectfully.
"My Lady."
Sanyukta nearly choked.
"My what?"
The giant blinked.
"My Lady."
"No, I heard that part."
Aryan raised his hand.
"Can I ask why the giant glowing warrior is calling her that?"
The giant finally looked at the others.
His gaze lingered briefly on Aryan.
"The Second Key."
Aryan smiled proudly.
"I have a name."
The giant continued speaking as though he hadn't interrupted.
"The prophecy proceeds as written."
Elara stepped forward cautiously.
"Who are you?"
The giant rose to his full height.
The room suddenly felt much smaller.
"I am Aurelion."
The name echoed throughout the hall.
Several older Guardians immediately dropped to one knee.
Their faces turned pale.
Elara's eyes widened.
"Aurelion..."
She recognized the name from ancient records.
Aurelion wasn't merely a warrior.
He was one of the original protectors of the Celestial Gate.
A being older than kingdoms.
Older than empires.
Perhaps even older than recorded history itself.
Aryan looked around.
"Judging by everyone's reaction, I'm guessing that's important."
"Very important," Elara whispered.
Aurelion turned back toward Sanyukta.
"The Gate is awakening."
Sanyukta frowned.
"You keep saying that."
"Because it is true."
His glowing eyes darkened slightly.
"And time grows short."
Before anyone could ask further questions, the sanctuary trembled again.
This time the shaking came from outside.
A Guardian rushed into the hall.
His face was filled with panic.
"The eastern watchtower has fallen!"
Everyone froze.
"What?" Randhir asked.
"The Shadow Creatures have returned."
Aurelion immediately looked toward the sanctuary walls.
His expression became grim.
"They have found us."
Outside...
Thousands of dark figures emerged from the surrounding forests.
They poured from the shadows like a living tide.
The sky darkened.
Black clouds gathered overhead.
The sanctuary's protective barrier flickered under the pressure.
Sanyukta felt her stomach tighten.
There were too many.
Far too many.
Even Aurelion looked concerned.
Then suddenly—
A brilliant flash of silver lightning split the sky.
Everyone looked upward.
Another bolt followed.
Then another.
And another.
The dark clouds above began swirling violently.
The storm wasn't natural.
Someone was controlling it.
Far away...
Atop the lonely mountain range...
Aadhya stood perfectly still.
Wind howled around her.
Rain fell in sheets.
Lightning danced between her fingertips.
Her silver eyes glowed brighter than ever before.
The symbol on her hand blazed with power.
The whispers inside her head had grown louder.
Much louder.
She could feel something calling her.
Pulling her toward the sanctuary.
Toward the other Keys.
Toward her destiny.
Then she saw something.
A vision.
A massive battle.
Darkness surrounding an ancient sanctuary.
A giant warrior standing beside a silver-haired girl.
The First Key.
Aadhya's eyes widened.
Without understanding how, she knew exactly where they were.
And she knew they were in danger.
The storm responded instantly to her emotions.
Lightning exploded across the heavens.
Thunder shook the mountains.
Then, for the first time, Aadhya consciously used her power.
"Go."
The wind obeyed.
A hurricane surged toward the distant horizon.
---
Back at the sanctuary...
The battle had begun.
Shadow Creatures crashed against the magical barrier.
Each impact sent ripples through its glowing surface.
Guardians rushed into defensive positions.
Weapons shimmered with enchanted light.
Randhir drew his sword.
Aryan grabbed two daggers.
Sanyukta's silver shield appeared automatically around her.
Aurelion stepped forward.
Then he did something unexpected.
He smiled.
A very dangerous smile.
The kind warriors wear before impossible battles.
"Stay behind me."
Before anyone could respond, he punched the ground.
Golden light erupted outward.
The entire sanctuary shook.
Ancient symbols ignited across the mountainside.
For centuries they had remained dormant.
Now they awakened.
Massive stone guardians emerged from the earth.
One.
Ten.
Fifty.
Hundreds.
Each stood nearly fifteen feet tall.
Each carried weapons forged from celestial stone.
Aryan's jaw dropped.
"You had an army underground this entire time?"
Aurelion shrugged.
"They were sleeping."
"Of course they were."
The stone guardians marched toward the enemy.
The battle exploded across the mountains.
Fire.
Magic.
Lightning.
Darkness.
The sky itself seemed to tear apart.
Yet amid the chaos, Sanyukta suddenly felt her mark burning again.
Pain shot through her wrist.
Another vision.
This one stronger than before.
She saw Aadhya.
Standing within a storm.
Lightning surrounding her.
Power radiating from every direction.
Then the vision shifted.
A shadowy figure appeared behind Aadhya.
Watching.
Waiting.
Smiling.
The Shadow King.
Sanyukta gasped.
The vision ended.
Immediately she grabbed Randhir's arm.
"The Third Key!"
"What about her?"
"She's in danger."
At that exact moment, miles away, Aadhya felt a chill run through her body.
Someone was watching her.
Something ancient.
Something evil.
Slowly she turned around.
A figure stood at the edge of the storm.
Wrapped entirely in darkness.
Its glowing crimson eyes fixed upon her.
The whispers inside her mind stopped instantly.
The storm itself seemed afraid.
The figure smiled.
"At last."
Aadhya's heart raced.
Every instinct screamed at her to run.
But she stood her ground.
"Who are you?"
The figure stepped forward.
Darkness followed him like a living cloak.
"The one who has been searching for you."
Lightning flashed across the sky.
For the first time in her life...
Aadhya felt fear.
Real fear.
The stranger's crimson eyes glowed brighter.
"You possess remarkable power."
The wind howled around them.
"But soon..."
His smile widened.
"That power will belong to me."
Far away, inside the sanctuary, Sanyukta suddenly looked toward the storm-covered horizon.
Her heart filled with dread.
The Third Key had awakened.
But she wasn't the only one who had found her.
The Shadow King had found her first.
And the race for the Third Key had officially begun.
