The Muses: Titans Return

Chapter 6

After talking to Deimos, I go looking for Melinoe and I find her sitting with Eubuleus, the God of Good Counsel. He spots me and gives a half smile before excusing himself and walking away. Melinoe looks back at me and she looks down sad. I walk up to the bench shes sitting on and I sit down looking at my hands for a brief moment before I look up at her.

"Melinoe, I am sorry for any attitude I have thrown your way and for ignoring you. Oizys said that you told her about my parents issues and it made me wonder what else you may have told her. I felt like you betrayed my trust." I look in her eyes as they well up with tears.

"I didn't say anything that wasn't already public knowledge. That Dad rejected his mate that Hera choose for him. That he put his duty before his happiness." She says looking at her hands. She may be the Goddess of Nightmares and Madness but Melinoe is actually a little softie.

"She said something about him leaving his first love but it not being my mom. Do you know what she ment?" I ask still confused about that statement. That's when Melinoe chuckles.

"What do you think that means Anya? If Maleficent wasn't his first love then who else did he leave then?" She asked me giving a small smile. Me. I was roughly Cassie's age when my father just left and my mom started to become evil.

"You know Dad loves us all right?" I ask putting my hand on top of hers. She again gives a small chuckle.

"Well yes but it's different. Your the reminder of his happiness. We are his reminder he is a God and has a duty to Olympus. I know dad loves us all but your his baby no matter what happens. He will pick your happiness over anyone else's." She wipes her tears away and sits up a little straighter. "I am sorry for making you feel as though your trust was betrayed. That is not what I intended. To be honest though Oizys can be kind of a b***h anyways. Sisters again?" Melinoe asks looking at me sadly.

"Mel. Always." I say with a smile and I hug her. From behind us we can hear a soft clapping and when we turn we see Deimos and Phobos standing there smiling. "Go away Creeps." I yell hugging Melinoe again.

"Zeus has an announcement to make. I guess Oizys isn't the only one getting matched." Deimos says walking up with Phobos and grabs my hand pulling me up. "I already have Mystis making a grand feast to celebrate the 3 matches today. Oizys and Simos, as well as whoever the other four people are. I hear one is Apollo."

We all give a laugh, Apollo is a little man w***e and learned well from his father Zeus on how NOT to keep it in his pants. If it had legs he was after it. We all walk into the ballroom where everyone was meeting and we see Zeus, Hades, Persephone, Ares, Aphrodite, Nyx, Erebus, Leto, Goddess of Modesty and Kindness, Simoeis, Trojan River God, Pan, The Horned God, and Simos, a Satyr, standing next to Oizys. They all stood on the stage and around Zeus who raises his hands and everyone suddenly goes quiet as we stand by the stage watching him.

"I need Phobos, God of Fear, Melinoe, Goddess of Nightmares and Madness, Apollo, God of Light and Sun, and Daisae, Naiad Nymph of the Troad on the stage." Zeus calls out the names and everyone shuffled around. Melione stood between Hades and Persephone while Apollo stood in front of Leto. Phobos stood in between Aphrodite and Ares, as Daisae stood in front of Simoeis. Zeus waits as everyone settles down and everyone is standing in place.

"Today we will be celebrating the matching of two Gods, two Goddesses, a Naiad Nymph, and a well renowned Satyr! We need to celebrate something good before we have to battle!" Zeus' voice booms. "Melinoe and Phobos, please step forward."

Phobos and Melinoe take a step forward looking straight ahead like they were in a military line up. Zeus stands behind them but between them. "Phobos, God of Fear, Son of Ares and Aphrodite, do you accept this match to Melinoe, Goddess of Nightmares and Madness, Daughter of Hades and Persephone?" Zeus looks between the two of them.

"I do accept." Phobos says nodding his head. I can see a twinkle in Melinoe's eyes. Zeus turns and asks her the same question and with out hesitation she says 'Of course' which makes Hades chuckle.

"Apollo, God of Sunlight and Sun, Son of Zeus and Leto, and Daisae, Naiad Nymph of the Troad, Daughter of Simoeis, Trojan River God. Please step forward." The two of them step forward and unlike Melinoe and Phobos, Apollo looked over at Daisae and then at his father shocked.

"Wait. Your serious?" Apollo turns to his mother Leto, "Mother, really?" Leto shakes her head looking at her son.

"Apollo, you are being bestowed a great gift by Zeus we will discuss the matter later." Leto says looking back at Zeus to finish speaking. Zeus gives her a small nod and turns back to the crowd.

"Apollo, God of Sunlight and Sun, Son of Zeus and Leto. I usually ask if your accept the match but I can already tell by your comment you do not." Zeus says looking at his son with an eyebrow raised.

"I accept the match I just would like an explanation as to why all of a sudden I am getting matched?" Apollo says crossing his arms and challenging Zeus.

"Because I found a perfect match for my son. I had to find the one that could handle you. Now if your done being a child we will continue." Zeus says and then looks at Daisae, "Daisae, darling daughter of Simoeis, Trojan River God. Do you accept my match and the responsibility of keeping Apollo in line?" Zeus asked with a small smile. Daisae chuckles and nods.

"Yes Zeus. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity." She says with a small smile. She seems sweet and instantly all I can think is if my cousin hurts this girl I will hurt him. Soon these matches wont matter because we will be fighting the Titans.
