Chapter 10 : k********g a werewolf

I slept soundly tonight. I guess I was really drained by yesterday's activities.

I woke up later than the others. Yeah I know I should set a good example as the leader of this team but I slept much later than them all because I had to report all we did yesterday to our superiors. So its only natural that I'll wake up late because I slept late right??

I went down and saw that the others were training in the woods behind the house. Its true when they say old habits die hard. We are used to training whenever we wake up and that routine still followed us down to earth.

I went to join them in working out and we trained for few hours.

Its quite ironic you know. In Nexus I used to wake up before the others but now they wake up before me. it's a much welcomed change. I could get used to living like this you know.

After our workout we lay down on the grass to catch our breath. I have to use this opportunity to tell them about our new mission. Maybe they'll be too tired to ask about Cleo.

Bella : Guys we have another task that we need to take care of ASAP.

Leo : And here I was thinking that you wanted to tell us about Cleo.

Bella : I sighed inwardly. There goes my great plan.

Queenie : Don't tell us you forgot to ask about Cleo. What kind of a leader are you??

Bella : Come on guys.. you need to calm down ok.

Brian : Don't tell us to stay calm. Cleo was our teammate and our friend and we had to hold her down like a lunatic yesterday. Do you know how that feels??

Andrew : Can we all stay calm and hear her out?? We all know it ain't easy to get that kind of information except the king decides to let it go public. So let's just hear what she has to say please.

Bella : I gave a small smile to Andrew silently thanking him for speaking up for me. I waited to see if anyone still has something to say before I continued.

Am not a cold hearted b***h ok. I don't know about you all but I care deeply about Cleo's situation not just because she is my teammate but because we are changelings. We always look out for each other. I did not forget about Cleo. I still asked Lord Harry about Cleo but he gave me the same answer he gave me the other time.

I know we all want to know what really happened to Cleo and why she thinks that Beta Richard is her mate but right now we can't get any answers because we still have a mission to complete. So let's just wrap up this mission and return to Nexus then we can know what really happened. Right now we have a mission so we need to stay focused.

Jefferson : She's right guys. its obvious that we can't get any information now. Let's just finish this mission and return to Nexus.

Jess : What's our mission this time Bells??

Bella : We need to bring back a follower of La Verdad. The king wants to know how their leader intends to find a mate for them. He wants to know if they are involved in human trafficking.

Andrew : Ok let's get started. How do we go about it boss??

Queenie : Easy. We just find a follower and kidnap him.

Jess : Errmm... Am pretty sure he was referring to our team leader "Bella " when he said boss.

Brian : Shut up Jess.

Jess : Why dont you make me Brian??

Bella : Cut it out already. We have no time for meaningless squabbles. Jess its fine. you know I always welcome meaningful suggestions from everyone besides Queenie is actually right. We need to kidnap a follower but first we need to locate one and not just anyone,,we need to locate one that has stayed long in the organisation.

Jefferson : Why dont we go into La Verdad's territory. I believe the high ranked followers always stay close to the fairy.

Bella : We don't have the permission to go into their territory besides the fairies magic is too strong. We won't succeed. We just have to dig deeper. We'll return to school and look for another opportunity to get information from the werewolves like we did last time.

Leo : What about Lucas?? We can actually kidnap him. Am sure he'll have all the information needed by the king.

Jess : What are you talking about?? Who the hell is Lucas and why would you think he'd have the information we need.

Bella : Yeah please enlighten us Leo because we are all lost here.

Leo : Lucas is the younger brother of Alpha Lucian of the shadow moon pack. During our last mission,,I was able to spike the drink of a lady called Ellie. She happens to be the Luna's best friend. She told me that Lucas had always been rebellious and he keeps causing trouble in the pack. The Alpha keeps putting up with him because he is his only brother. Meanwhile everyone keeps saying he'll become more responsible once he finds his mate but so far,,he has not found her.

Brian : How does that relate to La Verdad??

Leo : I was getting there Brian. Ellie said Lucas refused to mate with anyone else except his mate because the last time he tried to mate with a human,, She died before the obsidian change is completed.

Brian : And I ask again... How does all these help us with our mission??

Leo : I was getting there Brian. please let me finish ok. It was said that out of anger and frustration,, Lucas left the shadow moon pack. His brother tried all he could to make him come back but he adamantly refused. Everyone thought he is now a rogue wolf but it was later discovered that he actually left to become a follower of La Verdad. For the past 5 months he has faithfully followed the fairy.

Bella : This is great. This is exactly what we need right now.

Jess : Am I the only one wondering why the Luna's best friend cares so much about the Alphas younger brother??

Queenie : That's a dumb question you know. Isn't it obvious that she wishes to be his mate?? Besides her drink was spiked and she was asked questions about the organisation,, so naturally she'll talk about her own sad experience with them.

Leo : Queenie is actually right. From my conversation with Ellie that night I could tell that she hated La Verdad because they made Lucas leave the shadow moon pack.

Bella : Ok its settled then.We are going after Lucas.

Our mission in school today is to get all the information we can get about the Alphas brother "Lucas". We need to know if he stays under the protection of the fairy.

We also need to know what he likes and the places he loves to visit.

Before the end of this week I want to be done with werewolves so we can move other creatures.

Andrew : You have no idea how much I hate it there. With all those omega's flocking around you wishing you were their mate.... Yuck!!

Brian : Speak for yourself Andrew. Am loving it here bro.

Jefferson : As much as I love to be here living like a spoilt rich wolf,, I still agree with our leader. We still have other supernatural creatures to investigate. Besides,,nobody likes going to school.

Bella : Alright guys. Let's go get ready for school. If we arrive late we'll draw unnecessary attention to ourselves.

We got ready and went to school. Luckily for us,,everything went well in school this time.

When we got back from school I gave my report to Lord Harry.

Within two days,, we were able to get all the information we needed. This time we didn't spike anybody's drink to get informations. We simply made use of the computers. When I reported to Lord Harry that we have a target he told me that we don't need to ask too much questions about him so we won't be suspects when he eventually gets missing.

He then told me that our operation room has all the latest software used by humans in their law enforcement agencies. Too bad I didn't pay much attention when we were taught how to operate all computers in Nexus. Cleo was our best I.T student then that's one of the reasons why she was able to join the elite team. But since she's not here right now we have to settle for the second best " Queenie ".

She was so excited when I told her she has been granted access to the operation room.

I saw her eyes brightened in excitement for only a second,, Then she conceals her excitement and followed me up to the operation room.

That's why we we able to get all the information we needed so quickly.

Today is the day we finally kidnap lucas and send him straight to Nexus.

I can't wait to go back home to Nexus. Dont get me wrong I don't miss Nexus for even a tiny little bit. Its him I miss. So far I've not had much contact with humans so I've not met him yet. At least in Nexus I have the opportunity to see him every night. But here on earth,,our paths have not crossed yet.

We planned to get Lucas from his office building in the city's capital.

La Verdad has a very large estate with several acres of land and houses that their followers lived in. They loved to stay together because the fairy uses a very strong magic to protect all those in his organisation that choose to stay within his estate.

But many of them have businesses to run so they can't afford to spend all their time in the estate. They simply can't stay under his protection forever.

Lucas is one of such. Although he can easily run his business from La Verdad's headquarters, he still needs to attend some meetings. So he always visited his company once every week.

Too bad for him because he won't be going into the office today.

In the building's parking garage the elite team stayed in the shadows and waited for him.

Queenie stood in front of his private elevator dressed in a very revealing dress that leaves nothing for the imagination.

Jess and the others sat in a van waiting for us while Andrew and I hid by a car with guns. The bullets aren't lethal. They are filled with wolfsbane that'll leave him completely docile.

Soon enough the others in the van informed us that he's heading our way. Then we spotted him driving into his parking spot that's close to his private elevator.

He got off his car and walked towards his elevator. When he got close he sniffed the air. I knew he had caught our smell. Then he spotted Queenie standing close to the elevator.

Queenie : Hello Lucas.

Lucas : Hmmm.. Did my brother send you to try and bring me back or to try and seduce me??

Queenie : Both I guess.

Lucas : Go back and tell him I don't need an omega to sleep with. I need a mate...MINE

But wait a minute,,why do you smell different??

He sniffs the air again trying to know what she really smells like.

I saw his eyes widened as realization hit him but we didn't give him a chance to react. As soon as he made a move at Queenie Andrew shot him twice and he fell down and screamed in pain as the wolfsbane took effect immediately.

Queenie : What took you guys so long??

Bella : We wanted a perfect angle to shoot straight.

Queenie : Or maybe you wanted him to kill me first.

Andrew : Oh Come on Queenie. Dont create an issue out of nothing. We just needed to find the perfect angle so we don't miss the shot and leave any evidence that could lead back to us.

Bella : Let's just go please. He has Alpha blood flowing through his veins so the effect of the wolfsbane won't last long.

Andrew went to get the others in the van while Queenie and I tied Lucas up with handcuffs laced with wolfsbane so he wont break free.

Queenie cuffed his legs while I cuffed his hands. Queenie finished first and went forward a little to check what was holding the rest of our teammates. I was still struggling to cuff his hands because I was feeling so guilty inside.

Suddenly he held my hands using so much energy that I had to wonder if the effect of the wolfsbane is already wearing off. I turned my face to look at him. The guilt was eating at me.

Lucas : Don't take me to your father please Isabella. He'll take my life force and he'll kill me.

Bella : The king only wants information about La Verdad. He's not a murderer.

Lucas : Do you truly believe that?? You and I know the truth Isabella.

Bella : What are you talking about?? What truth??

Lucas : La Verdad is the answer to all your questions. You need to find our master. He'll help you find your second half. He'll help you find him.

Bella : How do you know all these?? Do you know him??

He smiles at me and I can see the black veins all over his body and I know that merely speaking to me causes him a lot of pain. I felt like crying at this moment. The guilt was killing me.

The others soon soon arrived and he stopped fighting the pain.

I avoided him all through our journey back to our apartment.

Immediately we got home I reported to Lord Harry that we have him and we are ready to come back home.

We used our Lama to open the portal and return home with our hostage.

Andrew : Penny for your thoughts bells.

Bella : Save your penny. Am not thinking.

Andrew : You sure about that?? Because you seem to have zoned out. Are you thinking about what Queenie said??

Bella : Nahhh.. Queenie is entitled to her thoughts and I certainly don't answer to her.

Jess soon joins our discussion.

Jess : Let her be Andrew. I believe she's unhappy because she's back home in Nexus.

Bella : Shut up Jess.

We were still taking Lucas to meet my father. I don't know how I feel right now. How does he know me and how does he know about him??

Could I really get all my answers from La Verdad??
