Kael's Pov
The guard's words hung in the air and everything stopped for a second before the entire throne room exploded into noise and movement.
"Elvanya go with Eldric now" I said and grabbed her hand but she pulled back.
"No I am staying with you" she said and her voice was firm but I could see the fear in her eyes.
"I cannot focus on the battle if I am worried about you" I told her and I knew my voice sounded harsh but I did not care right now because the rebels were attacking and she was the target.
She opened her mouth to argue but Eldric appeared beside us and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Come child" he said quietly and his old eyes were serious "let your mate do what he must do"
Elvanya looked at me one more time and I saw her fighting with herself and then she nodde
