The Prince Among Students

207 Words
The first day at the international school was overwhelming. Languages blended together in the hallways, accents danced in conversation, and cultures intertwined effortlessly. She felt small at first, adjusting her uniform nervously, reminding herself to breathe. That was when she heard the whispers. “Do you know who he is?” “They say he’s royalty.” “A real prince.” She didn’t pay attention at first. Rumors existed everywhere, and she had learned not to believe them easily. But when she finally saw him, the world around her slowed. He walked with ease, confidence carved into every step—not arrogance, but assurance. His presence was calm, composed, and unmistakably different. Teachers greeted him with respect. Students watched him with fascination. A prince. Not the kind from her storybooks, but a real one—wearing a school uniform instead of a crown. She felt foolish for staring, for feeling her childhood dream stir awake after years of silence. She told herself it was nothing more than curiosity. Still, her heart disagreed. They never spoke that day. Or the week after. He existed in her world like a distant star—visible, admired, but unreachable. Yet somehow, just knowing he was there made her believe again.
