Blair realized that they had not yet told Brian that his mother may still be alive. He wondered whether he should say something to Brian about the ransom note Jon Bruckner received. He did not want to create false hope in the man, yet he also did not feel it right to keep the man in the dark. Holding the glass for Jacqui to drink Blair told Brian to wait a while as he was about to leave the room.
“I need to tell you something Brian… Jon Bruckner received a ransom demand for your mother a couple of months ago. That chain you and Jacqui found in his safe was in a parcel delivered to his office approximately a month or so before he was killed.”
“What!? Do you think this means that she may still be alive?”
“It could be, or whoever had hurt her still had the chain and decided to use it for
