Chapter 1

Rita was washing her clothes on a lovely Friday morning when her phone began to ring. Wondering who it could be, she walked over to her phone. It was an unknown number. She answered, but the call abruptly ended. Rita sighed, realizing that the caller had hung up.

"I don't have any phone credit, so if you're interested, you can call me back," she muttered to herself, putting her phone down and returning to her laundry.

Just as she was rinsing her clothes, the phone rang again. Annoyed, Rita rushed to answer it, thinking it might be someone important regarding her upcoming wedding.

However, it was an intruder, someone who could hurt her for the rest of her life if she didn't manage the situation well. The caller greeted her with a fake smile and asked how she was doing.

"Who am I speaking with?" Rita asked.

The caller replied, "Edward. I thought you wouldn't recognize my voice."

Rita recognized Edward's voice and replied, "You're my friend. I remember you."

"I thought you wouldn't remember anything about us anymore," Edward said.

"I can't easily forget about you, Edward. If it weren't for my father, I wouldn't get married to anyone else but you," Rita blurted out.

Edward replied, "It's okay. I understand, and I wish you well in your marriage. But, will you consummate your marriage without paying me a final visit?"

Rita hesitated, and after some thought, she agreed to visit him the next day.

The next day, Rita secretly visited Edward. He had malicious plans for her, vowing to spoil her wedding so that no one else would marry her.

On arriving at Edward's apartment, Rita smiled, and her face glowed with happiness. But as soon as Edward saw her, his malicious plans increased and he wore a fake smile on his face.

" you are in big trouble today and I am going to knock the hell out of you today," he said under his breath,

Chapter 2

Sincerely, Edward and Rita had been in love since their university days and they were well know together by every student in the school.

They loved each other and also want to be together for the rest of their life's, they had plans for each other, and they both want to travel around the world together and had faith that it would definitely work out for good.

However, Rita's father was not welcoming Edward for reasons that are best known to him.

They didn't know why he took such a drastic decision the moment Edward Wilson Akpeyo mentioned his father's name.

But as the proverb goes, that even though a toddler were to climb a tree, he would never be able to see what an old man can see from the ground.

No, he can't marry my daughter, the man still insisted.

Though Rita was seen persuading the father to change such a decision that they had already made up their mind to spend eternity together,

But the father, a bald headed retired military man, was seen being silent and watched the only daughter cried profusely without coughing.

After Rita was done wailing,Rita and Edward decided to elope and live their lives to the fullest, A nite before they eloped Rita realize that it would be better to listen to her father and then,

She eventually moved on after realizing that her father would never change his mind, which she later met Mr. Femi, an ExxonMobil employee, who would become her husband soon.

" I will manhandled the hell out of you today." Edward said silently while welcoming the girl in his house...

Immediately Rita stepped into the house, they both hug themselves lightly,

Don't hug me too hard , you know I will soon be somebody's wife, she jokingly said Ohhhh sorry my bad, he feigned a smile.

"Welcome once again," he said while Rita was smiling.

What can I offer u her royal majesty?Edward asked.

Its been awhile I stepped in here, Rita said,

Nothing much, but check the refrigerator, I believe I have some drinks in there.He uttered,

Rita who didn't believe anything can happen, went to the refrigerator and took out the a chill Hollandia yogurt while looking at the expiration date,

I hope is not yet expired" She said before finally opened and sip it gently.

Edward was seated on the opposite side of the couch observing Rita while she drank the juice.

How is your wedding planning? He asked.

It's fine, she hurriedly responded.

It's ok, he said.

“But such a life , if I am being told we will not be together forever I won't believe if someone had told me you were going to fall out of my grasp and perhaps spend all of eternity with another man, I would not have believed them”.

“I mean, whenever I realize that we are no longer together, I always run out of words,

And let me tell you that I'm miserable right now. I may be happy when I talk on the phone or excited when I'm around people, but virtually every night my bed is soak with tears. He sadly said".

Why are your family torturing me?

Why do you treat me so poorly and leave me with a broken heart Rita , is that what we bargained for ?

Have I done you wrong? He asked Rita who began pleading.

Edy, you know am not the cause,

I don't just want to go against his will,

"Just be rest assured that you will meet another girl that will be more more more attractive and gorgeous than me." She added while lying on the couch.

As soon as Edward noticed Rita's behavior,

He smiled because she had been ensnared by the drugs he inserted in the juice.

Though, one can wonder why Rita chose the particular juice that had inserted with drugs,

however, Edward the game planner was aware of her personnel which he's fully aware that she would be looking for something to drink,

Thus he used a syringe to inject the drugs into all the juice in the refrigerator.

On the other hand, he thought that he would definitely compel her to have s*ex with him even if she refused to drink any of the juice,

Or in the worst case scenario, he would abduct her.

Yes, that was his plan,

But Rita had quickly taken the drink and became stupid.

As Rita was dozing off,

Edward swiftly moved closer to her, removed her clothes and stripped her naked

After two hours of sleeping, Rita suddenly awoke to find herself naked,

Rita was seriously angry, because she never saw that coming,

She merely went to see a friend, but had no idea that people are more tricky than we might realize.

Now that Edward had committed such a barbaric act, all the respect, trust, and love she had for him was vanished and replaced with heatred and regret .

And nodded while smiling devilishly.

In all honesty, Rita wanted to choke him, but she reasoned that if she went about it that way, people would probably questioned why she had gone there in the first place.

Thus for that reason, she kept silent and move on, however she didn't know that Edward's motive was very barbaric and that he had videotaped her nakedness

So as Rita and Femi was there carrying out the procession, a w******p message popped up on Rita's phone.

Rita was inconsolable.

Rita pleads to Edward not to release the video but Edward was too cruel for that and he asked Rita to either marry him or pay the sum of 10 million .Rita couldn't think much and she accept to marry Edward and asked him to meet her, but Rita had other plans.

Chapter 5

Just before Rita went to s*hoot Edward on that fateful day,

Edward found himself standing in the middle of a busy bazaar where cocoa merchants were seen selling their cocoa seed,

He stood for a while thinking and abruptly overcome by evil thought,

Aunty, is that all? He was seen asking an old woman who was selling palm kernel oil in the bazaar,

Yes, the old woman replied.

He was the one that killed your father, the old woman concluded.

Wow, Edward exclaimed,

Okay, so was that the justification behind his refusal to allow me to marry his daughter? He pondered while smiling devilishly,

As the pace of his wickedness increased, Rita's call came in right then,which he directed her to where she would meet them.

Are you with the money? He asked,

Yes, Rita replied,

Okay come very quick, he commanded while calling his accomplice,

Where are you guys? He asked,

you all should meet me at the exact location"

Hope you guys understand? He asked.

"Copy boss," the men said and quickly drove to the spot to wait for Rita, who was on her way.

In their malicious mind, they were not looking for the money again, instead, they were waiting to Kidnap Rita and probably kill her, because according to the old woman in the market, Rita's father was the one who killed Edward's father.

Yes, she said, and it was true.

After everyone had waited for Rita without seeing her,

Edward then made numerous calls to her number, but no one answered while the phone kept ringing.

Do not test my patients Rita , Edward texted and sent it to Rita

Since you're joking with me,

If you don't deliver the money by today, I promise to kill your worthless father and send these nude videos to your husband. He threatened.

Oh, he yelled,

But thank God for the Nigerian police who arrested Rita on her way. Because her car was stopped and searched and the police found a gun

in her car but she was released has the gun was license and it was meant to her protection

However, he was unaware that Rita's father killed his father.

Rita got to the location and tried to sense into Edward but he was already filled with anger and heatred towards Rita and he tried to shoot Rita but Rita outsmart him and shot him instead and he died instantly , the gun shot alarmed the officer on duty and they rushed to the location and found Edward in pool of blood while Rita was still holding the gun , Rita was arrested for murder

After Rita was arrested,

Her phone was swiftly taken away from her to prevent her from making calls.

All the pleading she had made proved to be fruitless.

I mean, after she genuinely begged the officers to take a bribe and free her, the men insisted, while she let out a roar like a angry lion and got very angry.

Edward, God will punish you!

From your generation to generation, you shall know no peace she cursed!.

After when she stepped into the station, she began to regret what she had done. Her heart then began crying out for help, but it was too late.

She then remembered that she supposed to shared the problem to someone else, perhaps,Femi, the mother, or the father.

Maybe they would have help. She pondered.

Because according to the law, anyone in possession or under his control in contravention of the Firearms Act or any order made there under shall be guilty of an offense under this Act and shall upon conviction under this Act be sentenced to a fine of twenty thousand Nairas or to imprisonment for a period of not less than ten years, or to both.

Rita's father was seen reflecting about events from twenty-nine years ago.

He recalled as a junior officer, he was been punished regularly in the field by one Lt. Col Wilson Akpeyo, his superior.

He recalled how the man would be assigning him difficult tasks.And that is because he was scared Rita's father will surpassed him in rank.

Bringing him to various battlegrounds to the point of death and it happens to the point where other officers became incensed, but unable to voice out because it is an offence in the military circle to disparage the superior.

However, Rita's father would obediently go to those battle field and fought and with God's assistance, he always return triumphant.

And this kept happening but no one knew that Akpayo and Rita's father's first wife were into extral marital affairs and Rita's father unaware of that and surely that is why Mr Akpayo was always harsh on him and also use to send him on deadly mission but Rita father was already finding something fishy.

As the saying goes, that nine days for the thieves, and one day for the owner,

As usual, one day, Lt Colonel Wilson Akpeyo pushed Rita's father into a fierce battle believing that the man wouldn't make it out of the storm alive.

However even though many troops were slain, Rita's father managed to survive the storms and came back alive.

As soon as he stepped inside the house with his Ak47 rifle to go see the wife, or probably hug her for praying for his survival,

He came and behold, as be entered the the house silently to surprised the wife, he caught Lt Col Wilson Akpeyo having s*x with his wife in his matrimonial bed as he walked down his bedroom.

Rita's father who was known as Bayo got angry instantly and cork his rifle in anger and point the gun at him and said , sir you always send me to war and you are hear betraying me, Now I see why you are always harsh towards me, You sent me to battlegrounds make so I can die because and all that because you want to have affairs with my woman ? he asked with anger,

You have been looking for every means to eliminate me out of this world but God is higher than you and your thought,

So all this hatred was because you are having affair with my wife? He asked.

Even God knows today go be your end. He said while Wilson was sitting on his bed with his head up high and without any remorseful or regret.

To worsen the matter,

As he was in the process of talking, Lt Col Wilson Akpeyo attempted to attack him and also try to take the firearm from him,

Which Bayo who was irritated already, eventually lost control, and instantly fired Wilson Akpeyo and his wife sending them to visit their ancestors.

That was the end of his first wife before he married Rita's mother after three years of the incident.

Yes, that was what the old woman didn't tell Edward.

Mr. Femi, Mr. Bayo, and a security operative were seen assiduously looking for Edward and his group, who were posing a major threat to Mr. Bayo.

After hunted for a long time, the security operative were able to tracked down Edward and his gang by using a beautiful young lady to set him up.

Subsequently, the case was brought before the court on different count charges, for which he received a sentence of 21 years in imprisonment and a fine of 1.5 million naira.

Chapter 8

After nine months in jail, Rita's stomach became very big due to the pregnancy and perhaps ,it was related to giving birth and People were curious about how this would work,

However, as God is not a man, that night everyone in the prison yard were sleeping, until a child's cries woke them all.

That was when all of them yelled, attracted the attention of the guard who later came and helped Rita.

After three days of giving birth, the chief justice of the federation decided to go round different prison as usual to free some lucky inmate whose crimes are lesser,

When he arrived at Rita's prison and saw her breastfeeding a newborn,

Who's the owner of that child? He asked the prison guard who explained everything to the chief justice that Rita just gave birth three days ago.

Oh, he felt pity for the baby,

What brought her here?

I mean what is her offense? He asked,

It's unlawful possession of firearm. The guard replied.

The man shook is head,

Release her because of the baby, he ordered and that was how Rita was released from prison.

Femi, Rita, and Mr. Bayo were ecstatic and the were supprise and few days after Rita was released she started bleeding and she was rushed to the hospital and the doctor said she needs blood because Rita has lost lot of blood due to some pressure , u fortunately Rita's blood was rear and the hospital don't have her blood type, Rita's dad gave his blood but didn't match and Rita is already loosing her life , when a good Samaritan came to the hospital to donate blood and luckily it was Rita's blood group. Rita was quickly attend to and few minutes later she regain conscious but lost her child due to lack of breast feeding and inability to feel the warmth of the mother.

Rita couldn't hold her self as she screamed out for her lost child, Mr femi was also sad about it and they all went back home .

Mr Femi held Rita and assure her that they will surely have another baby , while Rita was sobbing she fell asleep and Mr Femi lay her properly on the bed

The next morning Mr Femi prepared her some food and they both ate together and decided to start their lives afresh.

They give thanks to God for resolving their problem.

Rita personally bowed down and expressed her gratitude to Mr Femi for supporting her despite her ignorance.

Thank you my Lord, I will always worship you, She spoke as Femi helped her to stand.

However, they have a message for everyone.

That we are partially to blame for some of the problems we are experiencing, because some of them was brought to ourself by ourself. That you should never become close friends with your ex; instead, you should remain distance away
