Jake's POV
"What?!" She gasps, pulling away from me.
"It's true," I say, blushing.
"I have to go," she replies, running off.
I sigh in frustration. I confess my feelings, and this is her reaction?
"Hi, Heidi, what are you doing here?" I demand as I enter my bedroom.
She turns, runs into my arms, and hugs me. "After I saw your crush run, I thought you might need a friend," she says, and I embrace her back. She's right.
I lift her chin and look into her wide, astonished eyes. Just as I'm about to kiss her, someone gasps at the door.
I turn to see Vanessa, hurt and disappointed, before she runs away, tears streaming down her face. Man, I really messed up.
I chase after her, calling, "Vanessa, wait!"
