Vanessa's POV
The day before school.
"Come on, just one more round," Dianne pleads.
"No, I won fair and square," Kevin replies, shutting off the video games.
We’re at Jake's house, where Kevin and Dianne are playing video games, and my amazing brother has won all the rounds.
"I'm sure I could win the next round," Dianne scoffs as she leaves the game room.
Outside, they're grilling burgers while some kids swim in the pool.
"I need help picking an outfit for the first day back," Giselle says, holding up skinny jeans, a crop top, and a short jumper.
"Wear the jeans," I suggest, munching on popcorn.
"And the crop top, thanks Vanessa," she replies.
My phone buzzes in my pocket.
Jackson: Want to hang out today? Just you and me?
Me: Maybe later. I'm not home right now.
Jackson: Cool
