Moonlight Deception

365 Words
***** The full moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the dense forest. Arianna crouched behind a thick veil of foliage, her heart racing with anticipation. Tonight was the night she would take the first real step towards living in with her new identity. Arianna's pack, the Nightshade Pack, was a traditional and conservative group, where women were expected to fulfill certain roles and duties. But Arianna was different. She was fiercely independent, determined, and longed for adventure beyond the confines of her pack. As she peered through the underbrush, Arianna spotted her target: a group of young werewolves, handpicked by the heir to the crescent pack, Ryder. They were gathered around a roaring fire, their laughter and shouts carrying on the wind. Arianna took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for what was to come. She had spent weeks perfecting her disguise, transforming herself into a convincing young male werewolf. The name "Ryan" was etched on a small piece of parchment in her pocket, a constant reminder of her new identity. With a burst of confidence, Arianna emerged from the shadows, her eyes locked on the group. She strode towards them, her movements fluid and deliberate, exuding an air of quiet confidence. "Hey, guys!" Arianna called out, her voice low and husky, as she approached the group. The group turned to face her, their eyes narrowing as they took in her appearance. Arianna held her breath, praying that her disguise would hold up to scrutiny. Ryder, stepped forward, his piercing green eyes locked on Arianna. " What are you doing here? " he asked, his voice dripping with curiosity. Arianna's heart pounding in her chest. " Mind if I join you guys?" Ryder's gaze lingered on her face, as if searching for any sign of deception. Arianna held her ground, her expression neutral, as she waited for Ryder's response. Finally, Ryder nodded, a slow smile spreading across his face. " Why not. We don't get many new faces around here." Arianna let out a silent sigh of relief as Ryder extended a hand, welcoming her into the group. She took it, her handshake firm, as she smiled back at Ryder.
