Chapter 8 Your man is here

1297 Words
Jessica ran into an acquaintance in the company on the second day after officially starting to work. Seeing her, the woman said in disbelief, "Jessica? I didn't expect to meet you here." Jessica expressionlessly nodded, "Long time no see." They had gone to the same university in the same year. But because Jessica had taken a year off, they had not seen each other for a long time. Jessica was always unenthusiastic about others because she was proud. After the Kirks had collapsed, she suffered a lot. But she had never humbled herself. Even when facing Orlando, she was still arrogant. Jessica had never had a close relationship with the woman, so she quickly left after nodding at her. Looking at her condescending back, the woman sneered, "Why are you still so arrogant? Do you think you are still a rich lady?" When a colleague came over and saw her rolling her eyes at Jessica, she asked, "What's wrong?" The woman mysteriously smiled, "Do you know who she is?" "Yes. She is the new administrative assistant." The woman looked around. Seeing no one else nearby, she lowered her voice and said, "I'm not talking about her position. She is a slut. She got pregnant in her sophomore year and took a year off. Her private life is promiscuous." The colleague replied in surprise, "No way! She does not look like such a person." "The purer a woman looks, the more promiscuous she is in private." Jessica felt everyone was strangely looking at her but didn't think much about it. When she got off work, Talon came to pick her up and said, "Madam, please." Last night, Orlando had said he wanted to have dinner with her. It was half past five when she got off work, and there would be a long time before the dance class started. So, she had agreed. Unexpectedly, she saw someone she didn't want to see as soon as she entered the restaurant. Helen was sitting opposite Orlando. Before Jessica could turn around to leave, Helen saw her and shouted, "Jessica, we are here!" Jessica could only step forward and sit down beside Orlando. "Helen wants to apologize to you for her annoying words that day." Orlando glanced at Jessica while handing her the menu. Jessica sneered. They had parted on bad teams at the Pratts that day. But Helen had acted as if nothing had happened. Jessica wondered if she was broad-minded or suppressing her anger. Helen pointed to the beef on the menu and said, "Orlando, I want this." Orlando looked at her and said, "You've just been discharged from the hospital, so you'd better eat something light." Then, he ordered some light food for her, which Jessica thought must be unpalatable. Helen shyly smiled, "You are too cautious. I'm fine now." Orlando frowned, "Your face is pale. Don't pretend to be strong." Hearing this, Helen touched her face with both hands in panic. Then, she looked at Jessica, who had blazing red lips and a delicate face, lowered her head, and said, “Do you think I am useless? I’m in such bad health that I caused trouble for you, right?” "Since you know you are in poor health, why did you cut your wrist?" Helen stuck out her tongue and smirked, looking naughty. Jessica rested her chin on one hand while watching the show. After the observation, she found Helen seemed to like Orlando instead of Cason. Seeing her shaking her head in disbelief, Orlando raised his eyebrows and poked her shallow dimple with his slender index finger, saying, "Your man is here. Where are you looking?" As soon as he finished speaking, Helen knocked over her glass, causing a loud noise. "I'm sorry." She seemed flustered when bending over to pick up the fragments. Orlando waved to the waiter and said, "Please give us another glass." When he was speaking, Helen suddenly screamed. "What's wrong?" Orlando stood up. Seeing her finger cut by a fragment, he wiped the blood off with a tissue and said with a frown, "You should have been more careful." "It's all my fault. I am clumsy. I'm sorry for causing trouble again." Seeing this, Jessica wanted to laugh. She could not understand why Orlando liked such a fake woman. Did all men like such tricks? She suddenly thought of Cason. He was a good man but was too simple. She was a little worried about him. If he dated Helen, Helen might torture and harm him. Jessica was immersed in her thoughts and did not realize she and Orlando were alone at the table until he wrapped a hand around her waist. She asked, "Where is your sister?" "The waiter took her to treat the wound." She responded in a low voice, "I see." Suddenly, he turned her face with a big hand, lowered his head, kissed her lips, and said, "You look beautiful today." "What?" Jessica didn't know why he said such words. She had come here after getting off work, so she was wearing her company uniform, which was a simple fitted skirt and a white blouse. And her slightly curly hair was hanging over her waist. But Orlando thought she looked incredibly sexy. Jessica pushed him away. They were sitting by the window so passers-by could see them. But he insisted on kissing her. After she refused him, they argued. However, because of the vast disparity in power between men and women, she was soon at a disadvantage. When she was panting, he pulled her into his arms. "You are annoying!" Jessica said while punching him hard. When she raised her head, she saw Helen looking at them with a pale face. Orlando pulled Jessica out of his arms as if nothing had happened and asked, "Has the wound been treated?" Helen softly smiled, "Yeah." After a while, the dishes were served. But only Jessica was speaking during the meal. She ordered, "Orlando, give me some eggs." Hearing this, Orlando remained patient and did as she requested. Helen suddenly said, "Jessica." Jessica was in a good mood today, so she didn't cold-shoulder her but responded, "Yes?" "I saw Cason cry that day." Jessica soon realized what she was up to. So, she stopped eating and said, "It’s none of my business." Helen had not expected her to react like this, so she sighed, "I can see he loves you very much. He told me a lot about you. He said you gave your first kiss to him and…" "Enough!" Jessica glared at her, stood up, and left with her bag. "Orlando, did I make Jessica unhappy again?" Orlando didn't comfort her this time but said, "Helen, Jessica is my woman. Don't say such words in front of me again." Then, he stood up, wheeled her outward, and said, "I'll send you back." Helen looked at him in disbelief and asked, "Do you like her? But you said you would give her money and ask her to break up with Cason in the ward. Why are you dating her now? Are you living together?” When Helen had met Cason in the bar, he had been drinking alone with a bitter face. Then, he told her he had heard Jessica having s*x with a man on the phone. And Helen thought the man was nobody but Orlando. She held his hand and said, "Orlando, please answer me!" Orlando did not answer. While wheeling her out, he said, "Helen, it’s none of your business. Stay out of it." How could he say it was none of her business? Helen burst into tears. She had just wanted Orlando to teach Jessica a lesson and had never expected herself to lose him because of this matter. How come? What should she do?
