Chapter two Vivian’s point of view Being my daily routine for awhile now, waking up exactly 5am to get myself and my little sister ready for the day. I have to cook us something for breakfast because no leftovers or junks is at home, and that’s first on my list to get whenever I get my salary. I stopped my alarm from ringing getting off my bed, I dragged my feet into the bathroom with my eyes still clouded with sleepiness. I didn’t get much last night because I’m an insomnia patient, I slept really late and not much; I doubt if I got a two hour sleep even. I brushed my teeth while applying some local facial treatment on my face, I existed my room still in my sleep wear going to my sister’s room to go wake her up. I got to her room entering there on her still in bed, I went to her tapping her repeatedly while muttering a silent yet audible wake up. She only grunted and changed position, she’s a deep sleeper and waking her up every day for school is another work for me on it own. I yanked off the blanket covering her, she sprang up at once yelling how cold she is while covering herself back. I simply stared at her until her eyes found me, her face turn sour immediately. “Why did I have to go to school again?” She pouted, folding her arms together in an annoyed manner. “Because you have to make me and momma proud of you. Now get up and go get ready.” I replied, leaning down to her plopped self on the bed and placing a peck on her forehead. “Momma can never be proud of me in that her awful state.” She said again, looking up at me for another response. “Don’t say that, you know she’s been through a lot, she’ll always be proud of us.” I scolded in a soft voice, dragging her off the bed and pushing her towards the bathroom so she can go get ready. “She’s not the only one that miss him a lot yunno.” She said before slamming the door on my face. I stood there for a second before turning my back and leaving her room, I sighed the moment I stepped downstairs and the first thing that greeted me was the drenched smell of a cigar or weed or whatever is rolled into that paper. Mom is awake and this is the first thing she choses to do. “Good morning mom.” I greeted knowing damn well she won’t answer, as predicted she said nothing than kept her head bent and inhaling through her nose some powdered substance lined on the table beside her; probably cocaine or some kind of hard drug. I left her going to the kitchen and searching through the cupboard to see anything I can prepare for us for breakfast, with nothing in there I settled for pancakes. Wouldn’t take a lot of my time and surely shield us away from the hunger of this morning. I started the preparation thinking about my life again and everything, how hard have come through it all. I never expected this to happen, none of this is my guesses of what’s gonna happen to me in future, but here I am dealing with it and still staying strong. I really am trying, I just wish mom could also try and be better and be there for us at least, I cannot be like this forever. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bade my sister bye as she entered the bus taking her to her school while I turned my leg and started walking my way to my working place, I arrived not too long because it wasn’t that far from our apartment. I settled immediately for cleaning before everyone else arrives after changing into a wear that suit that, getting the mop and a bucket from where it’s placed I started cleaning, brushing off the little dirts I come across on the floor. Soon I was done with cleaning, and the next was to put everything in order on the counter before existing I change into my uniform and begin the work of the day. Glancing at my boss’s opened office I noticed the drawer is opened, going through the door I went inside to push the drawer close when my eyes met loads of dollar winking at me. I blinked resisting the temptation to steal and pushed the drawer close. “What would you like to have ma’am?” I asked the middle age woman in front of me, she’s here for a takeaway obviously. “A cup of coffee would do,” she replied, taking a sit on one of the long stools provided at the other side of the counter. Not actually here for a takeaway. “Is that all?” I asked again, moving a bit away from her to go prepare her coffee. “Yes, black coffee please.” She pointed out when she saw me grabbing the milk can. I gave her a smile before resuming into making the coffee and soon I placed it in front of her. A glance at the whole restaurant made me realize how actually good this place is, patrons kept trooping in the more they troop out, and yet I’m still the only one behind this counter whereas I have two more colleagues that’s suppose to be working with me but chilling with their dangly freak boyfriend at a corner. I rolled my eyes knowing that one day nemesis is gonna caught up on them, if I try to report them, my boss won’t believe and will criticize me instead of them, and the last I want is to get in trouble with the two of them. I’m not scared of them, I’m just intimidated by them. I have never for once in my life stand up for myself or for anything in my life, I believe everything happening is for a purpose and when the purpose runs off or out, things will always change. I know my time is gonna come when no one will be the boss of me, that might only be in my dreams, but I have a strong believe that dreams sometimes come to reality. That day might not be now, or in two weeks, or in two years, but it isn’t far away from knocking on my door, and I’m waiting behind the door to welcome that day. Richard’s point of view I might have forgotten who I am a bit, but yesterday made me realize that. I’m Richard Wilson, the CEO of Rich’s Refineries, the richest gold miningefining company here in the city. I started my legacy with just one company named Richard Constructing Corps, but I made sure I build something bigger than that. I upgraded from that to owning a Refinery company, not only is that, I have branches just like my father in other places. All this are not known to him, to him the only thing I control is RCC, but what he doesn’t know is that the anonymous person competing with him in place of the most powerful in the city and has the same name as his son is actually his son. Yesterday just made me realize that I don’t have a family or parents, I should stop waiting for their redemption that’s never gonna come. It’s time I be myself, it’s time the world knows my face. It’s time I put an end to my father’s madness about me. It’s time for him to know who his son is. He wanted an alliance with his friend and that could only happen if I agree to get married to his friend’s daughter, yeah my source gave me the full details, it wasn’t about my company lacking because it can never lack. It was about the alliance he wanted. And what better way to start striking back, than to lead him on and on thinking he’s gonna get what he want like he always does, or that he have me cornered like he always have. Today is a start of a new chapter for me, the whole world is finally going to know the real face behind Rich Refineries. I took one more glance at my reflection on the mirror before slipping on my face a black shaded sun glasses and making my way out of my room. I got downstairs going straight out when a tiny voice called my name, causing me to halt my steps turning to acknowledge the cutie pumpkin that runs towards me in full force. “Hey you, when did you get here?” I got the little angel scooping up my arms, her tiny arms wrapped around my neck at once. “I came yesterday but you were in your room throughout and when you came out for dinner, father said not to join you guys because of the weird visitors.” Her tiny adorable voice filled my ear, she’s so so beautiful. I call her Cutie rose for a reason. “Right now I’m going to work, but I promise to come back early so we can have a lot of time catching up on while you still have just ten teeth only in your mouth,” I rubbed her little nose while dropping her down. She chuckled silently. “Bye bye and don’t forget to buy me ice cream or anything on your way back.” She waved her tiny fingers at me, I gave her a sweet smile while signaling a maid to attend to my little cousin. I got out and straight into my car, I inserted the keys turning on the ignition as I drove out of my father’s compound. Chances are since he’s going to know who I am truly, he wouldn’t want me in his house anymore and that’s the highest of what I want. I got to the big building finding a perfect spot to park my car before stepping down. I marched inside the building going straight to the elevator that leads to the upper floor where he is. At the verge of clicking the button a woman bumped into me, turning to look at her I saw she’s in a rush, she wasn’t looking because her head was bent as she rummaged her handbag. “Excuse me.” I called out to her attention. She sighed before raising her head up to look at me, her face fell into desire before crinkling back into anger. “What? Didn’t you see me coming so you can get the hell out of the way? Excuse yourself mister, you’re dressed up like this and looking this hot only to come seek a job. I’m really in a bad mood and would like for you to get the hell out of my way this instant.” She spoke with so much rudeness, I tilted my head in amusement before moving out of her way truly. She hissed before entering the elevator, she glanced at me when she saw I’m still standing outside. “Are you coming with or not? I don’t wanna be the reason you won’t get this job by arriving late. My boss isn’t gay Incase you don’t know, so he won’t fazed one bit by your looks or feature. So you-“ I clicked the close button closing the elevator on her face, she talks to much and that is not what I need right now. She’s definitely on my to deal with later. I waited for some minutes before entering the elevator as it make it way up to the top upper floor. I got there going directly to his office. I opened the door without knocking because why knock when he’s your best friend. His head snapped to the opening sound and his face lit up as he saw me. “Hey man!” He greeted leaving his seats to come give me a hug. “No time Ray, I’m ready for everything now.” I said to him, he smile at me before giving me a pat on the shoulder. “Are you sure? Have been talking you into doing this for a long time now and suddenly you just agree?” He said, squinting his eyes at me as if I’m hiding something from him. “Is there anything wrong?” He asked, still peering his eyes all over me. “No, not at all, it’s time I embrace my real world.” A smirked formed itself on my face, no more hiding Richard. This is who you are. “Very well, all they have to known is that the acting Director is stepping down for the CEO and the founder to start the game.” He walked over to the landline placed on his desk. Picking it up he placed it on his ear while inputting some numbers. “He said he’s ready, get the press ready.” He instructed putting the call to an end. My eyebrows creased together to the way he addressed whoever he spoke to, he speaks as if the latter knew about this; it’s something that’s suppose to be only between us. He bent over to the intercom placed beside the laptop as he spoke into it. “All employees are expected to wait in the conferencing hall this minutes.” He ordered before standing back up and coming to me. “Time to go fight man, you gat the sword, I’ma be your cheering man.” He laughed to his own joke sliding his arm over my shoulder as we both walk out of his office. I didn’t bother confronting him, why would I when the world is about to know me now. This is who I am, or who I’m about to become, coming out finally will means my enemies finally knowing who they’re dealing with. No one has manage to ever take me down since I started this game, and now when the master is visible, no one will still take him down. To be continued……..
