Chapter four
Vivian’s point of view
“What would you like to order sir?” I asked politely, clearing his face off my mind and focusing on my job.
“A cup of only you.” His voice came out rough and deep, not allowing my ear to grasp whatever he said.
“A cup of what?” I asked not sure I heard his response well, I shifted my gaze away from the notepad in my palm back to him.
His eyes twitched as he hummed on nothing, “Yes I would love to have anything here that I can buy for a little kid.” He countered, his finger tapping repeatedly on the mid-barrier surface in between the both of us.
“Okay then,” I glanced at his long manly fingers one more time before turning my back to prepare his order. Anything a kid would like, is this restaurant a place for that things, but still I can get him something. I packed him a chocolate doughnut with strawberry sprinkles on top packaging everything in a small backpack, I dropped the order in front of him. “And that will be ten dollars,” I stretched forth a palm, requesting for his bill.
He grabbed the pack with his other hand going down his pocket, he brought out his wallet as he removed two 100dollar notes from it, he dropped the shiny money on my palm before turning his back and existing the restaurant. I gasped at the amount in my palm, I just got a free tip. He must be rich.
I sighed realizing my plan to get his face off my mind isn’t working, I can’t stop thinking of how amazing he looks. His teal ocean eyes is something I wish I can stare at forever, a perfect jawline, perfectly carved brows, and his curly dark hair. Oh gosh he’s so perfect, his girlfriend would be so lucky.
“The boss is calling for you,” someone said, calling me out of my fantasy, I looked over at her and it’s the one girl that actually has a little pity for me here.
“Ooh, thanks.” I dropped the notepad in my palm going to honor the call, I got to her office entering without knocking. “You requested for me ma’am, and here I am.” I announced.
“Oh yes, I need you to clean my office, it looks irritating to me,” her wicked voice confirmed, giving me yet another stupid order to carry out.
“I did that yesterday,” I reminded, and it wasn’t just yesterday but before I left work.
“And?” Her stupid fingers went up in a sarcastic way, “Are you questioning my authority now?” She asked as she dust herself sitting well. I wonder what her husband sees in her, she’s just a fat f*****g old wicked pig. Why is she this cruel to me, I don’t remember doing anything to her in my other lives.
“Sure thing,” I agreed, going to grab the spare bucket and tools I’d be needing just beside her door entrance. She stood up existing the office for me to clean, “One more thing,” she paused as she was about going out.
“I want this place clean and dried before I come back in, so I don’t know how you’re going to do it but do it, and I’m giving you just an hour.” And she walked away.
I cursed at her badly when I’m very sure she’s out of sight, how am I suppose to dry a place I just finish cleaning.
I look around the whole office and this is just another prove that this woman loathes me naturally, there’s no single dirt on any of her things. And yet she wants me to clean and dry again. No I won’t be doing that and she will have no idea.
I dropped the bucket and mopping stick, picking only the broom I began sweeping, I swept the entire office packing them together in her dustbin. I’m already done in a space of ten minutes, and she gave me an hour, so if I mop now that should means it’d dry before she still comes back, or I can just relax my nerve and calm myself for a little minutes. I have been working none stop since I got here, so there’s no bad in me deciding to rest I guess.
I sat down resting my head on the chair’s headrest, placing my leg on her table and making myself comfortable. All I just have to do more for today is clean that whole restaurant when we finally close and today will be done.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My back arched badly from all the stress I’m encountering all this days, it’s already late and I’m back from work. I marched upstairs going to my little sister’s room, I knocked twice before pushing the door open.
“Are you still up sally?” I asked in a whisper, it seems she’s asleep but she may not be.
“Welcome back home,” she replied from under the duvet she covered herself with, her voice doesn’t seem okay. Without no hesitation I dragged the duvet away from her to see her cuddled up and crying under the duvet.
I laid down quickly with her placing her head on my lap while rubbing her cheek. “Are you okay? What happened in your school? Did you get in a fight?”I bombarded, wondering what could be the cause of her crying like this.
“No, the landlord came in earlier…” she said, giving me an hint of what’s wrong. My face fell at the sound of that.
“What did he say?” I asked, with my voice losing tempo and coming out low.
“He said if we don’t pay him his money he’s gonna throw us out,” she cried in my arms, I became speechless unable to say anything. I dipped my hand inside my handbag bringing out the small pink teddy bear I got for her on my way back from work; I used the money I got from the hot man’s tip. Stretching it to her, her face lit up as she hijacked the toy hugging it at once. I smiled at her antics.
“Everything is gonna be fine, everything is gonna be okay.” I said, reassuring the both of us. “I’ll go make you something quick to eat before sleeping okay, so don’t fall asleep yet.” I added, getting up from her bed.
“Okay sis,” she answered, a smile crept up my lips just looking at her, she didn’t deserve this, she deserve a happy family that will love and take care of her at her very young age. I deserve better, we all do, dad did us unfair, life is unfair towards us.
I paused before stepping out, “Did mom heard what the landlord said?” I turned, asking sally before going out.
“Yes, she heard everything,” she replied, already engrossed in playing with the teddy.
“And did she said anything?” I asked again.
“Nope,” she gave a sharp response that indicated what was I expecting from her, of course she won’t say anything.
I know everything is gonna be alright someday.
Richard’s point of view
I walked out of the restaurant unable to comprehend what just happened, I walked in a restaurant to get something only to meet the most beautiful girl have ever seen in my life attending to me.
Staring at her goddess made face gave me pleasantry feelings I have never experienced in my life. Her perfect lips speaking to me as I wish it could do me more delights. I slammed close the door of my car while inserting my car key and zooming out of the vicinity.
Honestly if I didn’t promise Rose something I won’t be going back to that house, I wonder how my parents are gonna react now that the truth have came out. But one thing is for sure, my father won’t let me live under his roof again, and that has been something I want since I clocked eighteen or become a teenager rather.
I horned signaling my arrival to the gateman so he could press the gate open, it slides open revealing a space for me to drive in.
I got down of the car as I marched towards the house, all the workers kept throwing me weird glances which I ignored. Stepping into the living room I met my parents waiting already for me.
“Where’s Rose?” I stopped a maid asking her, and not acknowledging the two human beings that called themselves my parent. “Here take this to her.” I gave her the little package I’m holding to go deliver for Rose.
Mom attempted to speak but I rose a finger sealing the words from spilling out her lips. “I’ma go upstairs right now and pack my useful stuffs, you can burn the rest alongside the marriage you want me to have for I all care.” I articulated such that their response is stuck up their throat.
I jogged upstairs with my keys dangling across my finger, I dashed into my room going straight to my wardrobe and removing the files I secured under my clothes. This is the only useful thing I’d be needing in this house, I can get another of everything else if I want but not this paperworks.
I packaged them well before going out and locking the door, I was at the hallway when my ear picked up two voices in an heated argument; that must be my parents.
I tiptoed going closer to my father’s study room to get a clear hearing of whatever they’re arguing about. “He’s our son Kenan, you can’t go all that on him.” That was my mom opposing whatever my dad is planning to do to me.
“Do you realize he just came out as the real owner of RR, our rival company, this is our chance Martha, we finally know who’s the owner and we can finally put an end to him.” My father told her, how could he say such. He wants to put an end to me, his son. What kind of father is he.
“Kenan what’s wrong with you?” Mom snapped at him, “How pernicious of you to want to kill your own son because of your company. This is not the man I married talking, you won’t touch a hair on my son’s body Kenan, and I’m pretty sure you know what I can do.” My mother threatened him, having me a bit surprised that she actually gives a damn.
And then there was nothing again; they both went silent, I opened my mouth in shock when the realization what I just heard dawned on me. If my father is gonna come for me, I better come back for him too and I’m a step ahead since I know he’s coming for me now.
I rushed inside my car driving out of this mad house in an hurry. His voice replayed in my head, what he said played back in my mind. ‘We finally know who’s the owner and we can finally put an end to him’
‘As he being looking for the owner before, did my company owe him anything? How did we become rivals?’ Those questions were the one running through my head.
I got to my pent apartment, and this is a real definition of wow. I would never doubt my best friend to pull this off, I only gave him the money, he made all of this happen. He knew my taste so well. He have my trust, he deserve my trust.
I made to press the horn button when the gate automatically slides open. I drove in finally pulling into the designated parking lot of this place . Grabbing my things from the back seat, I locked the car and made my way to the elevator provided just inside the building.
“Welcome Sir Wilson, it’s so nice to finally see your face.” Someone greeted and it startled me a bit, I wasn’t expecting to see anybody here.
“And who are you?” I said, looking into the middle aged man’s soul.
“Oh, the receptionist,” he smiled, adjusting the rectangular framed eye glasses placed above his nose. I gave him a half-hearted nod and walked inside the elevator.
The elevator dings, opening to reveal the real beauty of this whole place. A wow left my lips while taking a 360 degree look around the living room. I walked deeper checking out the kitchen and all.
I stopped when I got to the master’s bedroom, upon entering a cocky smirk laid on my lips. This is the exact reason I love Ray so much.
I collapsed on the king-sized bed removing my phone and dialing the culprit behind all this. He picked up on the second ring with his happy voice booming at the end.
“Are you home yet?” I asked because we’re about to have a very long talk.
“Yes any prob?” His voice came through as a reply, the background noise a bit scratchy. I heard footsteps until the background became silent. He must have left the noisy area.
“I need you to tell me what I need to know about RR and Wilson’s Empire…….”
To be continued…….
