I looked at Charlotte’s parents, and they seemed to be speaking to each other through silent looks.
“We want to come out of hiding, but we don’t want to join either of our families. We’d like to join forces with you somehow. We don’t care what job or rank, but we want to be involved with our daughter’s life and future grandchildren if you have any.”
Charlotte looked at me. “I have an idea. Why not have them be my personal bodyguards? They will always protect me and I feel comfortable with them. Or at least my dad if my mom isn’t comfortable with the possibility of killing someone. Maybe my mom could help around the house? Be a cook or something. Do you have any openings?
