Chapter 33 - Truth

The four went to the new technologies they saw one by one. The next one looks like a box with a door at the front. “This thing has a food icon on it, so does it have something to do with food?” Felxir asked. “Ohh, this thing. I think Megan has this kind of technology in their house,” Icerielle replied. “Really? I don’t recognize this thing at all,” Megan responded. “It’s the thing you used to reheat food so it is hot when eaten,” Icerielle replied. “So we can cook with this thing?” Felxir asked. “Yes you can, but I don’t think there is a lot you can cook with it. It’s purpose is just to reheat leftover food,” Icerielle said. “Nah, I’ll pass with leftover food,” Megan replied. “And this thing?” Felxir asked. “I don’t know, let’s open it,” Krieldyr replied. They opened a bigger box and were surprised at what they found. “Food, there’s a lot of it here,” Felxir said. “And chocolates. Woah, there’s a lot of them,” Icerielle added. “So this thing will make the food, vegetables and meat to be fresh. Why does my family doesn’t own one of these things?” Krieldyr asked. “Maybe because it’s just been invented?” Felxir replied. “You got a point. I will talk about this to my parents, maybe we can also have our own team that would focus on developing such technologies,” Krieldyr said. “Hmm, we will see about that,” Felxir said. “Why do you have to think about that? I thought your family is rich, that means that you could do that if you really wanted to. Unless there’s a reason why you couldn’t access the materials needed here in the four domains,” Megan said. Felxir become anxious while Krieldyr just smiles. Krieldyr said, “Oh, he’s talking about how it will deviate from what my family business is. Our specialty is food and goods so having to introduce something different might be a little hard for us.” “Oh, I see,” Megan replied. “Hmm, these technologies are really helpful. I think the one that developed was also the one that invented the cellphone,” Felxir said. “Yeah, I’m really curious as to why we have cellphones before everything here in this room,” Icerielle said. “As far as I know, the main problem from the previous generation is that they couldn’t have good communication from one domain to another. Since there is a wide abyss separating each domain from another, they have to devise a thing that would help them communicate from a wide distance to each other,” Krieldyr replied. “Oh, yeah. Since there is plenty of land cultivated to produce food that is just enough for the population, there’s not really a problem from shortage of it. And since the problem on communication is already solved, they can now focus on other things,” Megan added. The four continued on exploring the place, discovering what are the other technologies and assigning tasks within themselves on how they would live with each other. Krieldyr and Felxir went back to their room. “This is really impressive. You really think we can have a team to develop things like those?” Felxir asked. “I think we do. But the real problem is what Megan has said. Arcanea is really far from the other human domains aside from the Air Domain and I think that all of the technologies here is run by a certain crystal that can only be found on the four domains since the crystals from the central domain is already exhausted,” Krieldyr said. “Yeah, that’s a big problem. We don’t really have a big connection to any human here. The Domain Lord knows about us but he wouldn’t favor us in this term since the Vampires will surely be alarmed,” Felxir said. “Lower your voice, they might be eavesdropping. I know that Icerielle and Megan grow close to us but there’s no reason to be more careful,” Krieldyr replied. “Eh? I think you’re the only one that needs to be more careful. But since you talk about that, why not eavesdrop on them instead?” Felxir said. “It’s a bit rude to eavesdrop on girls but we are just doing it for Archeans,” Krieldyr said. “Then here goes nothing,” Felxir replied. “Focused Hearing!” Krieldyr and Felxir said. Every sound that is being produced is amplified and Krieldyr and Felxir focused on a certain path, they were able to pinpoint the conversation between Megan and Icerielle. “Hey, Icerielle. What do you think of this apartment?” Megan asked. The sound of water splashing could also be heard while Megan and Icerielle are talking to each other. “Hmm. I think this is good. Or better, I should say. There’s a lot of things that are automatic which would help us focus on our project,” Icerielle replied. “That’s true. Not having many servants is really a big change but with the technology that we have, it would really not have much effect,” Megan said. “But I’m still here for you so you don’t have to worry about anything,” Icerielle said. “Oh, right. Do you think Krieldyr and Felxir are Ar-,” Megan said but she suddenly stopped talking. Krieldyr and Felxir looked at each other. “What is she talking about?” Felxir asked. “I don’t know. Did our spell get canceled? Or she just stopped talking midway?” Krieldyr replied. “I don’t know, let’s just continue on eavesdropping,” Felxir said. “Okay, I’ll wash your back now, Icerielle,” Megan said. “Eeekk!” Icerielle screamed. “Oh, are you embarrassed, Icerielle?” Megan asked. “S-stop fondling it!” Icerielle replied. Krieldyr and Felxir become flustered. “Maybe we should stop this,” Krieldyr said. “Yeah, I think so too,” Felxir said. Krieldyr and Felxir stopped using their spell and sighed. “You can stop now, Megan,” Icerielle said. “Why did you cover my mouth when I’m talking earlier? That’s a bit rude,” Megan asked. “Krieldyr and Felxir,” Icerielle said. “What about them?” Megan asked. “They are eavesdropping,” Icerielle replied. Megan was shocked. She replied, “How did you know?” “I was able to detect a little amount of magic in the air. They were careless,” Icerielle replied. “Then that means-,” Megan said.
