Chapter 40 - Tour

On the next day, the four went again to the Earth Domain Central Development.

“I have already talked with the principal researcher and you will be orientated tomorrow. Come here early in the morning so you can start immediately,” the receptionist said.

“Okay, so it’ll be tomorrow. Now, we have nothing to do,” Felxir said.

“About that, the president allowed Shin to tour you around the Earth Domain,” the receptionist said.

“Really?” Megan exclaimed.

“Shin!” the receptionist shouted.

Shin walked towards them.

“What’s up, Shenaya?” Shin replied.

“The president said that if these four came today, you could tour them around the Earth Domain,” Shenaya replied.

“Really? That’s something the president wouldn’t really say. Are you sure about that?” Shin asked.

“Ahem. I’m going to say what she said verbatimly, okay? She said, ‘If the four top students come tomorrow, tell Shin that he can tour them around the Earth Domain. He got a car ready and I think that the students will surely enjoy the ride’,” Shenaya replied.

“Woah. No wonder she allowed something like that,” Shin said.

“Wait? That means that Sir Shin would leave the front door open?” Felxir said.

Shin laughs. He said, “Of course they wouldn’t let me leave without anyone to replace me.”

“Hmm, but why is touring us a big deal? Why would an important person like you be the one touring us?” Krieldyr asked.

“You’ll know later,” Shenaya replied.

“Okay, I guess?” Felxir said.

The four followed Shin outside to the parking lot.

“W-wait? Is this a car?” Megan asked.

“Of course, it is,” Shin replied.

“It’s far too different from the one they used to fetch us up from the Central Domain,” Icerielle said.

“They said that a lot and it really is. This car is a custom built by none other than me,” Shin said.

“Really? So you also work in this kind of technology?” Felxir asked.

“Yes, I am or I mean, I was. Anyway, get yourselves inside of the car first and we will talk about that during our trip,” Shin said.

“So, what’s your deal with car technology?” Felxir asked.

“Maybe you could be a little bit polite when talking to someone older than you,” Megan said.

Shin laughs. He said, “It’s fine, it’s fine. I was somewhat like that when I was your age. Although I can’t do that in my current workplace very often. So, for this car technology, actually during our time at the Academy, our group is the one that develops this project.”

“That’s a big project. I never thought that you could succeed with that in just a short amount of time,” Krieldyr said.

“We don’t actually have this kind of project output during the presentation. However, the panel are delighted with the outcome of our work, so after graduation, we are asked to work with researchers to fully develop this kind of technology. After some time, the higher-ups took over this technology with two members of our group being the point person for the project,” Shin said.

“Saying that you are still involved in this technology means you are still reporting to them?” Krieldyr asked.

“Yes. The research team is currently based in the Fire Domain, so I have to go there whenever I have some report to make,” Shin replied.

“But the Fire Domain is really far from here, right?” Icerielle said.

“Yes, it is far. But distance is not a problem for this beast,” Shin said, then made the car go faster.

Shin shouted as he pumped up the car.

“This is the reason that the president wants me to tour you! This is so fast that your heart will jump out of you!” Shin said while still shouting.

Shin becomes quiet and looks at the four while still driving the car at high speed. He notices that the four don’t have any reaction, so he lowers the speed of the car.

“Wait, that doesn’t affect you?” Shin asked.

“Affect us in what way?” Megan asked.

“Ahmm, the speed of this car?” Shin replied.

Damn it. This is bad. The speed of this car isn’t really normal and this should be our first time experiencing this and if a normal person was inside of this car, it would really scare him. However, it is not Sir Shin that I’m worried about, Icerielle and Megan might see through us because of this. Krieldyr thought to himself.

“Ohh, I think it’s because we couldn’t speak because of the speed? Like it shocked us that we couldn’t say a thing?” Megan said.

Since Icerielle and Megan are vampires, this speed is really nothing for them. Their speed is almost at a supersonic level. However, Archeans have the magic spell ‘Enhance Speed’ that will accelerate our speed up to the same speed as vampires possessed. A normal human would really be surprised by our reaction. Krieldyr thought to himself.

“I see, I thought that it didn’t affect you at all,” Shin said.

Well, Megan’s reason is really not that convincing, but we don’t really have another way around. I guess it will save us from having our identity safe. Krieldyr thought to himself.

“That’s my reason. I don’t know why the boys don’t have any reaction. I thought this kind of thing would surely make them excited,” Megan added.

“Hey, hey, hold up. It cannot be seen through my face but I’m really excited. Didn’t you notice how I look outside the window? And Krieldyr did the same thing. Right, Krieldyr?” Felxir replied.

“Ohhh, okay?” Megan said.

She’s into something. Is our cover blown up? But up until now, I have been very careful to make sure our identity is well hidden. Or is she just testing us? Krieldyr thought to himself.

“You guys are amazing, so whether it’s me or someone else, touring you would result in the same thing,” Shin said.

“You’re wrong, Sir Shin. I think if it was another person, it would not be as enjoyable. And we wouldn’t even have the opportunity to talk about transportation technology,” Felxir said.
