Chapter 16

1064 Words
“Nowhere is safe,” Danny She shook her head as she paced around the porched. Blake was soon outside. He was watching her pace as he had his arms crossed across his chest. “Can you calm down so we can talk?” He asked “you’re the one who started it?” She answers without looking at him, still pacing. “I was just worried about you. That place..” “That place saved me….” She exclaimed, no longer pacing. She stood and glared at him. How will he ever understand how working at that place saved her from countless sleepless nights that all she wanted to do was cut herself? How distracting herself with work in a loud club helped her go through the evenings? How did she never sleep at night because of the dreams that hunted her? He will never understand because he wasn’t there. f**k sake, he doesn’t even know. He never even bothered to ask how I’ve been these past years as he walked past me in school. He didn’t even care when all I wanted that night was to tell him I needed someone to hold me to drown out the haunting images of the men who attacked me. But what did he do? He shut me out and told me to get over it. Fuck I was 12, and my best friend left me. And after my first attempt of taking myself, he wasn’t even there when I woke up in the hospital. And now he dares to tell me where’s safe? What’s safe? Danny screamed in her head. So many things she wanted to tell him, but all she could do was glare at him while asking him to leave her alone. Blake sensed more, finally had enough, and walked towards her like a lion to his prey. Danny, taken aback by how he looked, stepped back only to hit the porch's railing. The corner of Blake’s lips curls up, knowing he has her cornered. “Not now, Blake” She tried to sound commanding even though her heart was hammering in her chest. The look that Blake gave her made her knees weak. And she caught herself lowering her gaze to his lips. In one quick motion, Blake had her over his shoulder. Blake re-entered the house. Jacob was in shock, while Lucas only looked amused. “What’s going on?” Jacob asks, but Lucas places a hand on his shoulder before he can do anything to keep him from following the two. “We just need to talk,” Blake says over his shoulder as he walks past them and into the hallway leading to the guest bedroom. “THE HELL WE DO! PUT ME DOWN, CONNER!” She shouted. She knew she could easily escape Blake’s hold but something about Blake carrying her over his shoulder. Having Blake close sent sparks all over her body. Sparks we missed since they first kissed. Her head might be protesting, but her body was betraying her. Opening the door of the guest’s bedroom, Blake ignored her, struggling and kicking. He shut the door before Jacob and Lucas heard the commotion and dumped her on the bed. Blake tried not to notice how her breasts bounced. Danny Glared at Blake; when she was about to get off the bed, he held her by her shoulders and pinned her down. “Calm down, Dans; look is sorry if I said something that upset you.” His face filled with remorse. “Then don’t try to f*****g judge me. When you don’t know anything about me anymore.” She says. “Now get the hell off me,” She warned. “Promise not to hit me?” “I can’t promise anything.” Giving in, Blake lifted his hands and motioned them in surrender. Sitting on the edge of the bed. Pushing herself up, she sat up and looked at Blake. “What is it with you, Conner. One minute I don’t exist and next..” She trails off just thinking about that kiss made her heart skip a beat; what was that emotion in them? Her heart hammered when she saw his gaze fall to her lips. He opened and closed his mouth, but their lips crashed before Danny could object. He was kissing each other with hunger. His lips brushing her ear was awarded by a sharp intake of breath. Danny’s racing heart was loud in his ears, her intoxicating scent clouding his senses mixed with the heavenly scent of her arousal. Danny’s eyes fluttered shut for a moment before she froze. Her eyes are suddenly widening – no. All he would do was hurt her, use her, and toss her aside like the rest. And then what about her heart? “Why? What are you interested in?” She asked quietly, trying to pull her wrist from his hold. Blake sensed her shift in her and looked into her eyes. Releasing one hand, he ran his fingers through her soft hair, the smell of her shampoo wafting into his nose. “Is that even a question?” He asked quietly. His voice was smooth and velvety laced with lust. “Stop thinking with your head Dans.” His fingers caressed her neck, traveling down over her and leaving tingles of pleasure. His Knuckles brushing over her breast and down her waist, she gripped his wrist, shaking her head. “The only reason you want me is because I’m the one girl you can’t have.” She said bitterly, pushing him away. She tried to sit up. Blake moved off her, his eyes now sharper as he looked at her. He couldn’t answer her. When all he wanted to do was tell her that she was his and he was hers. How was he going to explain to her about wolves? About mates? About them being destined for each other. But where does he even begin? “I thought so.” Danny pushed herself off the bed. “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. I won’t tell the twins what a d**k you and your NEW friends have been.” She looks at him, her words piercing through him. “And for whatever this is? Trust me when I say I’ll never be put myself in this situation with you again.”
