Chapter 26

1117 Words
“Allow me to comfort you,” Blake. Present time - As Danny left the room to retire to bed earlier. Jacob, Lucas, and Blake decided to stay a little longer. To have some beer and play some Play Station. Hours passed, and it was past 2 in the morning when all three men decided to call it a night. As the boys walk into their room a few seconds later, Blake hears a gut-wrenching scream. The worst part was that it sounded like Danny. You hurt mate; Blake’s wolf accuses him. Picked an excellent time to unblock me, Blake sarcastically remarks back to his wolf. You caused mate’s pains; the wolf ignores Blake’s comments and continues to accuse him. I have no time for this. She needs us now; Blake responded as he was already out of his room, running towards Danny’s room when he heard her scream. He spots Lucas knocking on Danny’s bedroom door. “Danny, please open the door?” His knocking got louder by the second, “Danny, what’s wrong?” “f**k this?” Blake rolls his eyes as he kicks the door open. Jacob and Lucas didn’t contradict his action. They looked like they should have done that as soon as they got there. Blake sniffs the air and catches no sign of an intruder using his wolf senses. When he turned his attention to Danny on the bed, she was frozen in a peculiar position. Her hands were raised above her head. Her legs stretched downward. She was rigid except for her hands and feet that she kept on twisting as if she was bound to the bed by an invisible rope. “STOP, PLEASE!” Danny shouts again. “LET ME GO, PLEASE!” Danny shouts once more, her eyes are still closed, but her cheeks are stained with tears. “STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP” Danny screamed, sending a shiver down Blake’s back. “Someone help me,” She finally whispered. The three men froze as they watched their friend struggling with an invisible foe. All three are shaken to the core of what they are witnessing. And what the implications of her position and her screams meant. Blake ignored Jacob, and Lucas growled in anger. Strangely his friends didn’t seem to mind it. Jacob punched the wall next to him as Lucas nodded to Blake to go to Danny. Blake was already one step ahead of his friend as he was right next to her, even before Lucas nodded. Jacob was to protest until Lucas stopped him. Not one of them spoke. Both watch as Blake sits next to Danny and starts to comfort her. Something inside Blake knew what was happening to Danny, his mate. He also knew he could comfort her, stop her trembling and wake her from her nightmare. If a mate bond was strong, you could even heal your mate. He just hated the idea that this was when he would find out if their bond were strong enough for him to give her comfort. How he wished she didn’t have to suffer this pain. He sat next to her and gently stroked her forearm. She didn’t flinch at his touch, which was a good start. Her body somehow seemed to relax a bit. Yet he could still hear her heart racing. Blake placed his hand on her hand. As he did, her heart started beating a little slower. Her ridged form relaxed as Blake placed his hands on hers, and he could lower her arms to the sides. Jacob grabbed the blanket that had fallen to the floor and placed it on her. She wore her uniform sweats and overside sweater, but it felt appropriate to cover her. Blake’s possessiveness was oozing out of him. He wanted no one else to touch her. But he knew his friends meant well and were as worried for Danny as he was. Blake’s one hand remained on Danny’s hand as he rubbed his thumb on the back of her palm. His free hand cupped her face as his thumb wiped off her tears. “Please help me,” Danny said in a whisper, which Blake could hear. He lowered his head as his free hand cradled her head in an embrace. He whispers to her ear. “Daniella, I am never letting you go.” This was enough to lower her heart rate and stop her shaking. Lucas walks up to the bedside table and spots her bottle of pills. He picks it up and shakes his head as he reads the label. “I didn’t know she was suffering” Lucas turns to Jacob, “Go get some water.” “What?” Jacob responds “She needs to take this. It will help calm her. Especially when she wakes up and finds all three of us here.” “Who made you a doctor?” Blake muttered; something inside him was raging; he knew he was the only one who could calm his mate. And he was annoyed that both of them intended to stay in the room until she woke. “It's written in the bottle, mate. Do we have time to argue?” He pinched the bridge of his nose, then turned to Jacob, pointing at him as he continued, “You, water now?” Lucas walks across the room to grab the chair next to the vanity. He carried it and placed it next to the bedside table. In a matter of a minute, Jacob was back with the water. He handed the water to Lucas. “Blake, can you lift her a bit so she can take this?” Lucas takes a pill from the bottle. Blakes lifts Danny slowly as he scoots himself behind her. He then rested her head on his chest. Still, in deep slumber, Danny rests her head on his chest. Her heart rate was back to its normal rhythm. Blake could have sat like this with her the whole evening, but he knew Lucas meant well, and they needed to wake her to give her the medicine. “Dans,” Blake said in a soothing voice as he rubbed her forearms softly, trying to wake her. The three of them brace themselves for the recoil of waking her up. She was worried about how she would react to them seeing her in that state. “Danniella,” Blake whispers to her ear. Danny’s eyes slowly flutter as they slowly open. “Mhmm,” She lets out a sweet low moan as she snuggles her hair deeper into Blake’s chest. Blake’s heart melted, and he wanted nothing more than to stay in this state with his mate.
