“Why not?” I snap.
Granted, part of me didn’t want to find him a Luna anyway. That part of me that doesn’t want to be replaced, that wants to be the sole recipient of his affections.
So it’s not that I’m disappointed to no longer be involved in that process. Especially since I know I can’t stay here anyway.
But he said the probationary period had gone well. He said I was ready for more freedom.
To some degree, it’s a question of progress toward my ultimate goal of escaping, but I know it’s more than that, too.
I feel lied to. He promised me something, and I was stupid enough to believe him. So now I’m mad at myself for having believed such a tyrant in the first place.
