Evelyn Emma gives me one of the four spare bedrooms on her floor, one of the rooms I didn’t have time to explore when she was with Alexander. It has a balcony that opens up to the gardens. With some sort of rope, I could climb down it without anyone knowing. Except that the King’s palace is encircled by the Royal Gardens and the rest of the palace beyond that. Too many windows from the outer palace face my balcony, and I have no idea how many people would be able to see me. Perhaps I could try under cover of darkness, but once I’m in the gardens, I still have no idea how to get outside the palace grounds other than leaving through the front gates, which are guarded by sentries who know I’m Alexander’s shikra and would report my departure if they let me leave at all. For now, I tuck away
