9.I made my way back into the hospital lobby. I saw Daniels and I saw Nicole, but they weren’t alone. Standing with them were Agent Rose and Agent Davis. As always, it was a bittersweet feeling I experienced when I saw those two. On one hand, I loved to see Rose, but on the other hand her appearance was a reminder of my involvement in this whole chaos.
“Great,” I whispered under my breath.
As I made my way closer to the group, I could hear the echoes of light argument. Rose and Daniels were having a round of words with one another.
I heard Daniels utter, “You don’t know him or his family.”
Rose fired off, “That was an active FBI crime scene. You shouldn’t be on this case anyway.”
Davis was in between them, playing the peacemaker. I looked at Nicole. Distress was oozing down her face.
