Chapter3

It did not matter what face I had. Or what color of eyes and hair I wore on my head. I still remembered who I was and what I had in mind to do. Revenge and anger still boiled my blood. Pamela LeVante was going to pay. And it was going to be the best revenge I’d ever had. She was not going to see this coming. I had been given a second chance. My flesh had died but my soul had refused to give up. And it did not until fate gave my vengeful soul a second chance. I won. ***** Pamela would not see me coming. She would be so relaxed thinking she had wronged me and gone scot free. I chuckled in the confines of the bathroom where I was making sure my face was still beautifully made up. “Yeah, right. You will not see me coming.” I pretended my reflection in the mirror was my once-upon-a-time best friend. I gave myself a last appreciative stare in the mirror. Rosalie had a smaller body frame in contrast to my tall one. “Rosalie Millers, you have a great body but unfortunately, you do not know how to rock it. Good thing I’m in possession of it.” With those last words, I walked out of the ladies’ bathroom, heading to her…my office. It was my first day at work. How hard could it be? I might hate behind-desk jobs, I mean that was why I hated working with dad. But I was sure I could survive this one. I had to. I needed to earn until I found a way back to the movie industry. I needed to… “Miss Millers?” I halted in shock at the voice of my fiancé. No, Drew no longer recognized me as his wife-to-be. I was his secretary and he was my boss. I would have laughed at that if I was alone, somewhere. I turned on my heel, quickly regaining composure. “Good morning, Dre…eh…sir? Mr. Wyatt-Hudley?” Which was it? Sir? Or his last name? Which did the real Rosalie call him by? But he had not noticed my little quandary over which I was supposed to call him. He was staring at me. Disbelief and surprise spread over his face. I grinned. I was not surprised. I’d done a little background digging on the real Rosalie Millers. She was smart but when it came to fashion, she was a little behind… Okay, maybe a lot. No, it was definitely a lot! The lady lived like a hermit. Her place and wardrobe which were now mine, was full of drab, boring colors. I had to use her credit card — thankfully she was financially comfortable — to get better clothes for myself. I cleared my throat. His eyes snapped back to my face, his face went flat cold. I almost rolled my eyes. “The office, now.” He commanded. And he was off. I did not understand how corporate life worked but I would learn. I followed him, a new apprehensive feeling came over me. Casting dismal shadows over my self-confidence. I gritted my teeth. I would not be here if he had not cheated on me. I would not let him run me down with his cold, I-am-almighty-Drew aura. “Sit.” He refused meeting my gaze as he took his own seat. What was his deal? I had never known this part of his life. We were to be wed in paper only. I had no time to visit his business empire nor had he shown concern for my career. I sat on the chair opposite him and watched him rummage through papers on his desk. Those were so many files, just looking at them was plunging me headfirst into migraine. “I hope you’re fit to work now?” He continued to pay attention to his files. “Yes… sir.” I decided to go with sir. Mr. Wyatt-Hudley was kind of a mouthful. “It’s been more than a year so the business deals we were supposed to work together on before your…you know.” Then he fell silent, looking at me once again. I frowned. I did not know anything. “My what sir?” “You had a head injury. Something like that. Anyways, let’s not dwell on that. You’re awake, and back to work.” He had a serious expression. “I was trying to let you understand that those deals have been secured. There are two new business deals to work out. I’ll need you to go through these files and get back to me on them. Also, we’ll be traveling next week. Rome. A new client wants to meet with us.” “Uh… okay.” He passed two files across his large, polished mahogany to me. My head was reeling with everything he’d just said. My first day and my head was already exploding. I opened the files and while I had always been praised for being smart and savvy, I felt dumb. So dumb. What were all these numbers and business terminologies gazing back at me? “Are you okay?” His expression softened a bit. I raised my eyes from the papers to meet his gray eyes. “Uh…hm. Y-yes.” “Are you sure?” “Yes. Anything else, sir? I need to get right to these files.” I was standing up. “No. Just get back to me when you’re done.” He said dismissively. “Okay, Dre…sir” I took the files and walked to the door. “Miss Millers?” He called. My hand on the doorknob, I turned. “sir?” “Nice dress.” He complimented. I smiled, but he did not see because he was already back to work, his computer now open before him. “Thank you, sir.” I walked out, closing the door beside me. But then I realized something, I knocked on his door and opened before he could invite me in. His face was raised to the door already. “Uhm..sir, where’s my…I have forgotten my office.” He raised his brows questioningly, but directed me. “It’s the one close to mine.” “Thank you.” I rushed out and found my office. I went inside. It was quite huge and nice, but not as huge as Drew’s office. I scrunched my face at how boring it was. Typical Rosalie. I would see to the interior décor of this office space later. I settled down to work on the two files. I opened the first one and two minutes later, I let out a groan and rested my head on the table.
