Chapter 18 - Unpleasant Stranger

1762 Words
Dan began buying armor at the store. He held out each piece of armor to his partner and the clone was quickly equipped. In the game equipping happened instantly if you wanted to put an item in your inventory and immediately place it in the right cell on the figure of your character. Friends had time to fully complete the phantom's equipment. The figure of a man in heavy armor with a large two-handed sword appeared at the entrance to the cave. As the stranger came closer Dan recognized him. It was the one who had sent them into this cave. The stranger did not hide his face and carried his helmet in his hand. But what did this military man want from them now? "I can't believe my eyes! You killed the Spider Queen! How did you do it?" "We tried. We hit her with our swords. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Right hand and left hand, right hand and left hand again," Tom said quietly. The stranger looked at the joker and moved to a more serious tone. "Your skills are interesting. Or do I only need to talk to you, Dan? You were the one who created the clones named Tom. You were too busy with the process to notice me. I figured out how you were able to kill the boss. Well done. You have a very interesting ability. Where did you get it? I didn't want to distract you from your fight. But you were gone a long time and I was concerned about you. Don't be rude to me. After killing a monster like that, there should be trophies left over. What did you get? Show me!" Dan Raven froze in place. He remembered how he sometimes felt as if an attentive gaze was on him. Raven had been watching the Queen all the time! He thought that the creature could see him perfectly well at the entrance to the cave and was ready to attack at any moment! It turned out that this military man had snuck upon him. He's like Rambo! He's Special Forces! He can't show him the ring! Thoughts rushed through the player's head. The stranger smirked. An experienced adult realized that the guy wanted to hide some secrets. "No need to worry. I respect the law of Karma. I work for the government. I won't cause any trouble. I just want to see an interesting trophy," the stranger said in a calm tone. "You are a brave young man. You're the only one in town who could get through this dungeon with your amazing skill. We need people like you! We are a group that represents the government. In these times you must serve your homeland. You can join our group. You proved it with your victory over the boss. Show me the trophies and I will escort you to the squad's location." Dan Raven listened to the words spoken in a low, calm voice. He was beginning to get nervous with each new sentence. He was caught! It's the military. It's the government! They're going to take the ring away from him and use his phantom skills. "Put it on," Tom said quietly and calmly. Suddenly the clone stepped forward and struck the stranger with his sword. This technique has proven good against street robbers, but an experienced military man is not a bandit. The stranger blocked the katana blow with his arm, which was protected by the steel of his armor. The stranger's movement was swift and skillful. The clone began to deliver more swift blows but the opponent easily fought off all attacks. The warrior didn't even use his big sword. He fought back like a master of hand-to-hand combat. From the very beginning of the fight, the military man began to move. Suddenly Dan found the enemy approaching him. Run! He must run away and hide behind Tom's back! Raven stopped watching the fight like a silly fool. The player made a couple of jumps and took cover behind Tom's back. The warrior exhaled anger along with words of surprise. "What a strange helper. He doesn't lose power when he does a little damage to me. Doesn't Karma work on him? Aren't you afraid that Karma will punish you? Dan tell your puppet to stop doing s**t. I got great armor and he can't hurt me. I'm a special agent of the government and I'm specially trained. You're committing a crime. Boy, stop it right now!" Suddenly Dan remembered his partner's words. Put the ring on! Yes! Dan quickly opened the attributes panel and upgraded his character to level 7. Four free points he immediately allocated to Intelligence. He was now able to put on the magical epic artifact. Dan quickly shifted his attention to the inventory symbol and wanted the ring to occupy the slot on the picture of his right hand. The ring moved to its new location. Dan Raven felt strange. It was a sudden rush of energy. The pleasant feeling of a burst of vigor and tranquility pleased the young man. He remembered that this ring had a huge number of all sorts of abilities. But the most important thing at this point was a couple of skills that allowed him to use the ring. Summoning Hobbits! Dan didn't even realize what had happened. He thought about how cool it would be to summon hobbits for help. Brave hobbits. What did they look like? Like in the movie? Are they really brave? What are the hobbits armed with? Dan had time to think quickly about a few silly things. But he had time to think about the main thing! Two figures appeared next to the young man. They were hobbits who immediately joined the fight. The magical creatures were armed with slings. The short warriors had special bags of stones on their belts to throw at the enemy. Boom! The stone hit the enemy's face! Hhhhhhhss boom! The whistle and sound of the impact and another hit right in the warrior's face! Dan couldn't believe his eyes. Damage numbers appeared above the enemy's head. -9. -24. "I'm the best! Did you see that? I was the first to strike a lucky punch! Right in the nose!" The hobbit shouted in a shrill voice. "An accident. I'll throw more lucky punches! That's it! Right in the nose!" The second hobbit had time to object and untwist his sling and throw a new stone in the enemy's face. Blood ran down the military man's face. The damage of 22 points made the man furious. "b***h! Stop your games, I'll kill you, little bastard," the military man shouted and struck the clone with his sword. Tom managed to bounce back quickly and the sword blade didn't reach him. Dan realized with joy that they could handle this professional. "Curse! Apply the curse! It's not scary, it's not damaged," shouted Tom. Dan smiled and activated the Slowing spell. It was a skill he liked and had on his quick access panel. He didn't care at all about being punished for hurting another person. At this point, he wasn't thinking about the consequences. At the enemy's feet through the stones of the cave, the grasses instantly turned green. They sprang up and entangled the steel boots of the enemy. The warrior began to resist and a look of anger appeared on his face. "b***h, you can't stop me. I'm familiar with this stuff. We've checked all these magic tricks. Stop resisting! You're making a mistake!" Dan didn't listen to the man. He saw that the man was deceiving him. It is unknown how these military men tested their magical skills, but Slowing down with the ring turned out to be a terrible curse. The long stems of grass stretched almost to the enemy's waist and prevented him from moving quickly. The warrior could move, but the stems stretched behind him and a green track grew on the stone floor, marking the enemy's advance. Suddenly the clone lunged into a suicide attack! "Banzai!" Tom jumped up to the stranger with a shout and began delivering swift blows to the enemy's body and head. -2, -7, -4, -11, -9. Bloody damage numbers flew to the ceiling of the cave. The warrior began to beat on the clone's helmet with his sword. It was a terrifying sight. The clang and rumble of blows on the samurai's helmet and armor reverberated off the walls of the cave from all sides. The hobbits roared their brave mutterings. These fellows proved to be tirelessly apt slingers with quick and wicked tongues. Stones flew at the enemy from both sides and almost every shot hit the enemy's head. Unlike the Phantom, the hobbits did more damage. Dan saw with admiration how often numbers over 20 appeared above the man's head. Suddenly the military man's face distorted in pain and he dropped his sword. "f**k. You killed me b***h. See you in Hell," the stranger whispered and fell. Dan froze in surprise. He got scared. "Weakling! And a liar! You're no special agent of the government. You're just an ordinary soldier! You couldn't even kill me, you bastard," the clone jumped up to the man's body and kicked the corpse. "I'm the best! I'm the one who beat him," one of the hobbits shouted. He jumped in the air with joy. Then he began to do some strange dance. The other hobbit sneaked upon his rival and with a nimble blow hooked the dancer's legs. Then the two brave hobbits began to roll around on the cave floor and wrestle with each other. "They are strange. They don't look like the cute hobbits from the movie. But they're dangerous guys. Great helpers. Precise and with great damage skills. Upgrade me quickly. That bastard couldn't kill me. I want a new level, too. You didn't drain all your mana on the Slowing curse, did you?" Tom jumped up to his partner and quickly expressed his primary wish. "No, I only had time to use magic a couple of times. It was over quickly. Tom, we killed a new man," whispered the young man. "Let him go to Hell. He wanted to take our trophies. He's bad. Renew me!" "Yeah, sure, Phantom," Dan whispered the name of the skill and continued to stare at the dead man. He felt disgusted. The samurai's armor fell to the rocks with a rumble and clang. The hobbits stopped fighting and jumped at the player. Dan took a closer look at his saviors.
