Chapter 28 - The Stunning Fight

1695 Words
Dan got a good night's sleep and sat down by the wall to eat. Faithful helper Tom was making a report on his plans for the future fight. "I think doubling the boss's life will be a problem for us. We won't make it through quickly. We'll spend many hours killing this bull. The queen had no defense but it regenerated life quickly. This boss has protection but his life regeneration is the usual 1 health point per minute. With the assassin skill, I can do at least 7 points of damage per hit. Two daggers are 14 points of damage. It would take him 4 strikes to finish me off. If I don't dodge the first strike he will stun me and kill me. The king is agile and fast. He's faster than ordinary minotaurs. I'll do my best. Without armor, I'll try to dodge his first blow," Tom said. "What do you think of the hobbits participating in the party?" Dan asked a question on a subject that bothered him. "I understand that they should be summoned. If we sacrifice hobbits we can get enough mana to make an extra Phantom summon." Tom laughed and winked at his partner. "Let's triple the bets! Let's take a risk at the beginning of the game. You summon the hobbits and give them a command. The hobbits run into the room with the King and disperse to different walls! Each hobbit starts attacking the King with stones from his corner. I'm sure our little braves can knock some great damage out of this horny moron. The problem is the other thing," the clone squatted in front of Dan and looked him in the eye. "The Queen didn't respond to you when you used me as a tool of attack. Hobbits are phantoms of warriors, too. But the hobbits will find themselves closer to the entrance. The king may take notice of you. If he chases you, you have only one chance to escape. You must run to the exit and jump out of the dungeon!" "I can stay away from the entrance," Dan objected. "Then you'll lose the chance to sacrifice the hobbits!" Tom immediately objected to his friend's cautious suggestion. "When you stand at the entrance to the hall you see the danger to the hobbit and sacrifice him quickly! The king is left to his fools! He rushes to the other hobbit but you send the other hobbit to rest, too. You gain mana. The king takes damage. But he may turn his attention to you and then you're in danger." "I'm afraid. You won't be offended if we kill the big guy with long, suicidal attacks?" Raven asked the clone quietly. "240 attacks is 40 hours. Sacrificing hobbits will give you the ability to summon two additional phantoms per hour. Eight phantoms per hour are 32 points of damage. 31 hours of combat. You can hold out and you can stay awake. I agree with that plan," smiled the phantom. Dan almost choked on his water. This was too idiotic and abnormal a destruction of a boss! "Are you kidding me? Did you do the calculations accurately? Thirty-one hours on a level 10 boss! I don't like that. Maybe I should take my chances and send the hobbits into battle." Dan didn't want to spend that much time reliving the terrible emotions of his friend's death. Tom squinted his right eye and rubbed his chin. A spark of crazed amusement appeared in his black eyes. "There's an idea that's totally no-fault and wild. It's funny and amusing. You summon the hobbits and order them to run to opposite corners of the back wall of the hall! No doubt the King will finish me off first. Then a mutant will pounce on one hobbit and kill him. Don't take any chances! Don't sacrifice a hobbit! I fear that any magical operation with a hobbit will cause the King's aggression against you. Let him choke on one brave hobbit. The second hobbit is sure to do the damage! These guys are good. They really do great damage. Even if the little one can hit the horny freak four times it'll be a great support in reducing the boss's health," said the clone. "That's the plan I like better. I understand that you're a special creature. You're not consumable in my achievements. I hate to see you die. Let the hobbits contribute to our victory, too," Dan smiled. He finished his water and hid the remains of meat and bread in his inventory. He hid the empty bottle in his inventory too. Even an empty clay bottle could come in handy in this strange cruel world. The boys approached the entrance to the hall. Dan bought ten daggers from the store and picked up a pair of tanto's. He summoned the hobbits and gave them an order. "Hobbits it is time for the great battle! Now Tom will run to fight the monster. You run to that far corner of the hall over there," the player pointed one hobbit in the direction. He turned to the other hobbit. "You run to the other corner of the hall. To that far corner over there. Hobbits! Attack the enemy when you get to your corner! Shoot well! I hope for your courage and help." "I am the best! I got it all figured out, and I'm not afraid of that horny bully." "I'm not afraid either! I'll prove I'm better than you," objected the other hobbit. "Stop shouting. Everyone can hear you, even at the throne. I run. Good luck, hobbits," laughed the phantom. Tom rushed into the attack. The hobbits were even faster than the phantom and could easily overtake him. But the cunning hobbits ran to the opposite walls first and only then ran forward along the wall. Each hobbit ran to his far corner of the hall. Moo! The king jumped up from his throne and let out an angry mooing. He immediately raised a huge ax over his head and rushed toward the phantom. Boom! Bam. Bang. Bang! With a precise and swift strike of the ax, the king was able to stun the samurai and began striking at the frozen enemy. The clone couldn't keep his feet and fell to the ground. Shu. Bam. Shu. Bang. Shu. Wham. Shu. Smash. Shu. Boom. Shu. Donn. The whistle of the spinning slings and the thump of the stones hitting the monster's head sounded like the most delightful music in a player's ears. All Dan could do was stand and watch as drops of blood flew from the mutant's horned head and b****y figures were carried to the ceiling of the great hall. Moo! The boss somehow realized that he had managed to finish off his old rival. The king immediately rushed to one corner to cut the little shaggy-haired brave into pieces of b****y meat.   Shu. Bang. Shu. Wham. Two stones caught up with the enemy and struck the huge boss in the back of the head. The hobbit who escaped the first attack of the monster did not stop attacking the terrible bull with a huge ax. The king was very tall but it became his vulnerability Hobbit perfectly saw the horned head and stabbed precisely into the head of this terrible enemy. Dan summoned a new phantom and Tom immediately snatched the weapon from his partner's hands and rushed into battle. Unfortunately, the clone didn't make it in time to help the brave little fellows. As Tom ran to the far corner the nimble boss managed to finish off two hobbits. But Tom managed to attack the enemy from behind! Devious Attack! Two daggers struck the bull's arm, which had no armor protection. It was a wonderful sight for Dan to see. - 12. -14. -15. The king grunted and swung his ax away from his new enemy. He managed to turn around in time and started hitting the insolent man who had cut his arm. Tom flew back against the wall and froze in Stun. Without his armor, the clone took only four powerful blows with his ax. The daggers of the dead Tom did not have time to fall to the floor. Dan had already summoned a new phantom and handed him the daggers. He didn't shout a message to his friend about the damage done. All talk later. Right now the player had 30 mana points left in his reserve and he had to be careful to do more damage. King noticed the clone approaching and met the enemy with a mooing. Tom didn't pretend to be a tough dummy to beat. He threw his body into a leap! Two hands struck the monster's leg with daggers and then the boss was able to beat the phantom to death. The new clone snatched the daggers from the player's hands and repeated the suicide raid with the Devious Attack skill. Again jumped to the feet of the tall mutant and successfully kicked the bull's leg. The last two kamikazes repeated the suicide attack technique. King showed his intelligence and cleverness! He met the leaping clones with an ax strike. And once managed to stop the suicide flight! The clone did not reach the monster's body. Dan watched in horror as blood spurted from the phantom's punctured back. The phantom was not human. But there was blood flowing from its wounds. After the death of the last clone, Dan prepared to escape. He suddenly realized that the boss would warn of his intention to attack! The boss should mooing! That would be the signal to run quickly away from this terrible opponent. But the Minotaur King was not aggressive. He beat his hooves on the stones of the floor and sparks flew in all directions from the monster's horseshoes. The bull hissed and snorted loudly in indignation. The ax whistled through the air. The bodies of the opponents were gone! No meat! The insolent bastards dared to hurt the king. The bull walked several times near his throne. Then the mutant calmed down and sat down on the throne made of horns.
