The tension in the air was palpable, like a spark ready to ignite the entire atmosphere. I felt trapped by his eyes, lost in a sea of conflicting emotions. "Hang on." Her hand gently caressed my face, conveying a feeling of warmth and security that I hadn't experienced in a long time. Would it be that easy? What the hell was going on? "You look scared, Anny." "You know I am. What are you doing?" I ask, trying to control myself. I want to be in control. Now and ever. "Something about you is catching my attention. I haven't figured it out yet, but I have since that first day. It's made me want to find out what was behind those eyes." "For what purpose?" "You analyzed me first, I could be wrong, but I almost never am." "Do you think I analyzed you?" I let out a laugh and he took a small step back. For a second, everything was hot, but now… Heavens. What was that feeling? "I am sure." "I just wanted to know who the man would be who would move in next door." “Apparently Anny, you is a sweet person.” He smiles, but with a predatory look. He seems ready for anything. My heart beats and my legs almost weaken, but I have to be strong. Everything is unexpected. This shouldn't be happening. "I'm surprised by your attitude." "I'm a man. Are you saying that because of Lucas or because of you and your age?" "My age?" "What is your age?" This amuses me. Adrenaline helps in this situation, but Dominic's striking look also helps. "I do not want to talk about that." “Heavens, I haven’t seen someone with such energetic eyes looking at me in years.” Maybe because I wanted to make you a weapon for my own revenge, I guess. "It sounds crazy." "I know, but come to think of it, you're still here, Anny." "Do you think I want to kiss you, Dominic?" He looks at me, closing the distance between us again. "What are you still doing here?" "I... I... I don't know." His hand touches my face, my eyes close and I smell him. The smell is good. He smells like someone who knew exactly what he was doing. "Open your eyes. Look at me, girl." When he finally broke the silence with those bold words, my heart almost stopped. It was as if time stood still around us as I struggled to find the right words. "You can't kiss me." Dominic brought his face close to mine, eliciting an electric closeness that sent shivers down my spine. His eyes fixed on mine, so intense that they seemed to probe my soul in search of answers I couldn't give. His soft, warm breath gently caressed my skin, while his hand held mine firmly, conveying a feeling of security that I didn't want to admit I needed at that moment. His scent invaded my nostrils, a mix of woodsy cologne and something deeper, something that awakened a disconcerting familiarity within me. It was as if I already knew him, as if he was present in moments I didn't even remember. "I can't kiss you because you're my son's ex-girlfriend, right?" Take control, Anny, I repeated mentally to myself, fighting the temptation to succumb to the overwhelming attraction. He is not irresistible. He can't be. But his words echoed in my mind, like a seductive mantra tempting me to give in to Dominic's charm. I felt his presence surrounding me, surrounding me with an aura of mystery and desire, and I fought to resist the temptation to surrender to him. I needed to be strong, determined. I had a plan, a revenge to fulfill, and I couldn't allow anything or anyone to divert me from that path. Even if that someone was Dominic, with his piercing eyes and his irresistible smile. With a superhuman effort, I managed to step back a little, breaking the eye contact that kept us entangled in a tangle of intense emotions. "Exactly." "You're right, Anny." He sighs deeply, his gaze shifting to the clock on the wall before returning to me. His eyes seem to hide deep secrets, as if they guard an entire universe behind that impassive expression. "What kind of man are you?" My question comes out quicker than I intended, charged with curiosity and a hint of challenge. It was a question that echoed in my mind from the moment I laid eyes on him. An enigmatic man, shrouded in mystery and charm, but also filled with a magnetism that is difficult to ignore. I watch his reaction closely, trying to decipher what's behind that impenetrable mask. I had heard many stories about him, rumors and gossip that painted an intriguing but incomplete picture of the man before me. But now, in this tense and expectant moment, was my chance to discover the truth behind the words whispered in the wind. His lips curve into a slight smile, but his eyes remain serious, fixed on mine, as if trying to decipher every thought that passes through my mind. It's as if you knew that that question was just the beginning of something much bigger, something that would forever change the course of our lives. "The right question would be: what kind of man do you think I am, Anny?" Her voice is deep, filled with a challenging tone that makes me shiver involuntarily. It's an intriguing question that demands a sincere and direct answer. I take a deep breath, gathering all the courage I can muster before responding. "An enigmatic man. Someone who hides more than he reveals, but at the same time exudes an irresistible allure." The words dance on my tongue. I like my answer and in the background there is an audience applauding. His expression remains unchanged, but his eyes glow with an intensity that makes me feel like I'm being watched by a lurking predator. Lucas is nothing like this man. Absolutely nothing. This only fuels my determination towards what I intend to do. But at that moment, his lips looked irresistibly attractive. "You know very well what you're doing and saying, don't you, Miss Anny?" His voice echoes around me, carrying a provocative tone that sends shivers down my spine. "I think you know exactly why you're here, standing still. You're still waiting for me to kiss you. You just haven't realized it yet." His words hit me like a punch in the stomach, leaving me breathless. It's as if you're reading my thoughts, as if you know exactly what's going on inside my turbulent mind. For a moment, everything around me seemed to disappear, leaving just the two of us, immersed in a bubble of electrical tension. And then, without thinking, my lips form the words I never thought I would say so quickly: "I hope so." The kiss happens as suddenly as the beginning of a storm, my lips meeting yours, soft and enveloping. It's more than just a kiss; It's as if the world is charting a new course, taking me down an unknown and exciting path. As I surrender to this moment, a torrent of conflicting emotions floods my mind. Thoughts about Lucas, my ex-boyfriend, surface, bringing with them a mixture of sadness and anger. Sadness for the betrayal I suffered, anger for the pain he caused me. I wanted to see him pay. On the other hand, there was something intriguing about the man in front of me. His touch, his presence, his provocative words... All of this awakened an irresistible curiosity in me. It's like he can read my mind, understand what I'm doing. The anger I felt towards Lucas mixes with the intrigue that Dominic awakens in me. It's a dangerous combination, but at the same time exciting. Dominic is different, the kind of man you kiss once and cause you problems for the rest of your life. How did I know that? For the way my body responds to his touch, for the way my mind gives in to desire. When our lips part, a feeling of euphoria washes over me. I know this is just the beginning of something much bigger, something that could change the course of my life. It's revenge. It will have a price and this man will be included. Lucas will pay. "Let me take you out, Anny, what do you think?" "Do you want to go out with me?" "I want to meet you, I think that's fair. I'm curious to know what a young woman does living next door to me." "You might be surprised." I joke in a serious tone, knowing why I'm so close. "Do you think I don't like surprises?" His mouth goes to my ear, nibbling the lobe and then just whispering. "I love surprises."
