Chapter two (2)

It couldn't be morning soon enough, I had woken up way before that stupid alarm rang, 'Good morning, time to wake up,' it repeated this thrice then went off. On some mornings when I don't feel like waking up, I want to trash that alarm, but today was different, so I let it slide. After my morning routine, 'Yeah, don't ask me what's that?' I got downstairs already dressed, lest I forget, Harston high uniform is so chick, well only for girls with the right shape like me, you dig!! I walked in to the inviting aroma of pancakes and scrambled eggs, of course my mom was already up. 'Morning Mom, how was your night?'. 'Morning sweetie, my night was good,' she replied. But she had that look of surprise and I knew why, I just waited for her to say it. 'Well if it isn't Melissa awake and dressed for school at....' She paused turning to check the time on the wall clock. Then her eyes assumed the big 'O' shape, '6'o clock in the morning,' she almost screamed. 'Honey, did you sleep at all?!' She asked, maybe out of concern, I couldn't tell. 'Why do you ask, do I look like it?' I asked. 'No, no, I was just wondering,' she replied. 'Well, I decided to change my sleeping habit,' I said waving my hair. Mom looked at me for like 5 secs, then started to laugh, I was startled at first, then I just watched. 'You decided to change your sleeping habit?, like you can really change that?' She laughed. Yeah ,well I am not the early morning type, in fact I hate waking up early in the morning, so maybe that's what made Mom laugh, but it wasn't funny to me. She soon stopped laughing and asked 'so are you hungry?' 'Why not!,' I said as I drew out a dining chair, and sat down. 'I thought your sleeping habit changed your eating habit as well' she joked. Well that was funny so I laughed, everyone knows I like food, but who doesn't, I thought at least I gym a lot so I stay in shape. 'I soon finished breakfast, gulped down two cups of coffee, now I feel ready to go, I grabbed my bag and made for the door. 'Have s nice day mom!' I said. 'And you too honey, my greetings to Olivia and Silvia' she said. Olivia and Silvia lives two blocks away, we go to school together, so I stopped by to call them. 'Good morning, Mrs Barley, is Olivia ready?' I asked at Olivia's house. 'Morning dear, yeah she's ready, I would calk her,' 'Olivia!! Melissa is here' she said. 'Okay, I am coming,' Olivia replied. She was soon out and we stopped by at Silvia's as well, so three of us, walked down to school, it was only a five minute walk. 'I had a strange dream last night,' Silvia said as we walked. 'Really? What was it about?' I asked. 'Well, we were in a strange place, sort of Paradise, but the sky was grey like it wanted to rain and the sun seemed to be melting,' she said. 'That's gross, how could such place be a Paradise,' Olivia said. 'It's actually a Paradise, although the climate's different, the flowers, birds, waterfalls, butterfly, ponds, were just so lovely' Silvia defended. 'But what were we doing there,' I asked. 'We had strange but beautiful clothes like that of a goddess and we were just chilling, that's all' she explained. 'Like seriously?' Olivia laughed. 'Don't make jest of me, I just told you my dream,'Silvia said. 'Okay I am sorry, it just sounded weird,' Olivia apologized. We soon got to school, had to pass by the watch guard, quite a friendly fellow you could say. 'Good morning, Mr Dexter,' we chorused. 'Well, if it isn't the mysterious triplets,' he joked. We gighled, 'mysterious?' That's a new adjective, isn't it?' I said now laughing. We walked into the school, then our classroom, it was just 7am. 'Hey girls, hope you haven't forgotten about the book?' I asked. 'Nope, I haven't' said Silvia, 'neither have I' Olivia added. 'Wait a minute, Olivia you haven't told us, what you and Chris discussed yesterday,' Silvia said. 'It's nothing much,' she blushed. 'He just said he likes me and wants us to be friends'. 'Oooh, that's sweet,' Silvia said jokingly. 'Looks like Olivia's got a boyfriend,' I sang playfully while they laughed. 'Stop it girls, its not funny, someone might here you,'Olivia said. 'Alright, it's okay, let's get to the library,' I said. 'Fine, of course to the library,' Olivia replied. We were too eager to get there, that we forgot to place our bags in the locker room. We soon got to the stairs leading to the library, yeah like the bane implies, the stairs lead you down, like underground and not abovelije you might be thinking. On getting to the door, I could feel blood rushing down my spine, why?' I couldn't say, the door was huge but not locked. I had always wondered why the dungeon library had no librarian, but I soon figured out why, it was useless to have a librarian in a library no one visits, sometimes I wonder why it ever existed. I was about to open the door when, 'Are you girls really sure about this?' Olivia asked. I knew she was getting scared, even I was beginning to feel creepy but of course, I wouldn't let it show. 'Yeah we are, are you?' Silvia answered rather boldly than I had expected. 'It's not like you would back out , even if I said I wasn't' Olivia complained. Silvia and I laughed, 'well, since you know, let's get going,' I replied. The library seemed pretty normal except for numerous old books, like a century old book. 'Well, it seems pretty normal to me,' Olivia said. 'Of course, what were you expecting? Broken dolls and chains,' Silvia laughed. 'Okay girls, do you cite the mystery book?' I asked looking around. We did a little bit searching not really sure of what we were looking for, I had almost given up when, 'I think I have found it, that's if it's actually the one,' Olivia said. It was an old ancient book, thick outer covering, surprisingly it was still intact, on it cover was a picture of three girls with what looked like an emerald, They seem to look like US. 'What do you think this means?' Silvia asked, pointing to a note on the cover which read thus: "DON'T GET TOO ENGROSSED, OR YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF IN THEIR WORLD". 'Well there is only one way to find out,' I said, as I picked up the book, and looked for where to seat, why I decided to seat on the floor, I still can't tell, but still we sat on the floor setting the book in front of us, wondering if we should actually open it.
