ABBIE'S POV
"Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight F34. We are now inviting those passengers with small children, and any passengers requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately ten minutes time. Thank you." I heard the airline announcement after checking in more than an hour ago. I've already finished handing over my luggage and just waiting in the boarding hall to board.
This is my first time traveling through an airplane and the first time to travel alone, in general. You must be wondering why would my parents allowed this when they can not even allow me to go to the normal school in our place which is just a few blocks away from our house. Yeah, I want to experience being independent, full course. Sierra already taught me the various processes in airport, what to expect in airport, and the necessary actions to take. I'm not sure if I'm doing all of them right but I think I'm doing a good job.
I made my way to the boarding gate since regular boarding has already started. I'm still sleepy since after hanging out with Sierra, I need to get ready for my flight at 10:00 am. At 9:00 am, we are already at the airport. My parents want to accompany me to Sigford but I stood my ground of being independent. They even negotiated that only one of them will do it but I assured them that I will be fine. I know they're just worried. But I want to experience life without their restrictive and overprotective actions. Thankfully, my brother was there to help me convince them that I can do well on my own.
I am now inside the airplane and currently looking for my seat. I hope it's beside the window since I want to see the sky up close. My seat number is 11B and its between the left-hand side of the plane. And it's not beside the window. I felt sad but you can't always have what you want. When I arrived at the row of my seat, I noticed that someone was already sitting beside my seat and finished putting away things. I can not fully see his face because he is facing away from me, he is just looking at the scenery on the window. Although I can't see his whole face, I can see how his jaws clenched and his forehead creased. Like when something is annoying you and you are holding yourself to make it stop annoying you.
I immediately diverted my eyes away from him before he will notice that I'm staring at him. I certainly do not want an angry person to be more angry. I hurriedly put away my things and quickly made myself comfortable on my seat. That guy still haven't moved an inch but I noticed he had closed his eyes. Maybe he is sleeping.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome onboard Flight F34 with service from Falence to Sigford. We are currently third in line for take-off and are expected to be in the air in approximately seven minutes time. We ask that you please fasten your seatbelts at this time and secure all baggage underneath your seat or in the overhead compartments. We also ask that your seats and table trays are in the upright position for take-off. Please turn off all personal electronic devices, including laptops and cell phones. Smoking is prohibited for the duration of the flight. Thank you for choosing Sky Airlines. Enjoy your flight."
After a few minutes, the plane began to take off, and oh boy, I think Sierra has forgotten to tell me about this part of flying. I feel so many feelings I can not explain. All I'm certain is that I'm very nervous right now. Oh now i regret on not accepting my parents' offer on accompanying me. I need someone to hold right now!
That's when I remember my seatmate. I looked at him and found that he still has his eyes closed. Maybe he is really asleep. I contemplated on what I want to do for a few seconds. Maybe he won't notice.
I closed my eyes tightly and hold his hands while praying simultaneously for this to already end and for the man to not wake up because that would be really embarrassing.
.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned off the Fasten Seat Belt sign, and you may now move around the cabin. However we always recommend to keep your seat belt fastened while you’re seated. In a few moments, the flight attendants will be passing around the cabin to offer you hot or cold drinks, as well as breakfast/dinner/supper/a light meal/a snack. Alcoholic drinks are also available at a nominal charge/with our compliments. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight. Thank you.”
I don't know how long I'm holding this man's hand but the second I heard that announcement, I immediately released his hand. Thank goodness the man is really asleep. He didn't even moved an inch from his position when I first saw him. Well, not that I'm complaining. I would prefer him that way rather than him moving and waking up and finding what I've done. I heaved a deep sigh and concluded to sleep too since it will take nine hours before we arrive in Sigford.
