ROSETTE’S POV The water was perfect. Hot enough to soothe my aching muscles, warm enough to melt the tension I’d been carrying for days. He climbed in behind me, pulling me back against his chest, and his hands were gentle now where they’d been rough before. Careful where they’d been claiming. He washed my hair without being asked. His fingers worked through the strands, massaging my scalp, rinsing away the soap with a tenderness that made my chest ache.
