ZAVIEN’S POV She came with a cry, and I felt nothing except an overwhelming disgust, the overwhelming urge to shower for a week. I shoved her off the bed and walked out without a word, ignoring her screaming behind me. I needed air. Needed distance. Needed to be anywhere except here with a woman who meant nothing riding the body that apparently only worked for someone who hated me. I ended up at the cemetery. I hadn’t been here in years. Visiting meant admitting they were really gone, and I’d spent two centuries trying to forget they’d ever existed. But tonight I parked outside the gates and walked through the darkness to the private section where two headstones stood side by side, and I sat down in the wet grass between them like a man who’d finally run out of places to hide.
