CHAPTER TWELVE
“She did what?” Shad rinsed a glass in Gloria’s sink that night and stood by the refrigerator.
“Osana told me I’d better stay away from you.” Gloria put mixed vegetables in foil and into the oven.
“She threatened you?”
“Osana’s on the rampage and I’m not in the mood for drama.”
Shad shut the refrigerator, sipping from his glass of grape juice. “She had no right going to your job. I’ll talk to her.”
“No.” Gloria wiped her hands on a dishtowel. “That’ll only make things work.”
“I’m not letting her bully you.” He stood in front of her. “You’re my friend. I shouldn’t have to choose.”
“She has a point though. I still have feelings for you.” She sighed. “But, I don’t wanna cause any problems for your relationship.”
“You’re not doing anything wrong.” He set down the glass.
