Bound by Fate – Episode 13: The Secret Between Us The silence between us felt heavier than ever. I stared at Daniel, waiting for him to explain the truth he had been hiding. The man I loved was standing in front of me, but suddenly it felt like I didn’t know him at all. "How long were you planning to keep this from me?" I asked, my voice shaking. Daniel lowered his eyes. "I wanted to tell you," he said softly. "But you didn't." "I was afraid." I laughed bitterly. "Afraid of what? That I would leave when I discovered the truth?" He looked at me with pain in his eyes. "Yes." Those words hurt more than I expected. Daniel had always been the strong one. The person who protected me when the world turned against me. But now I saw the fear he had been carrying alone. "What is the truth, Daniel?" I asked. He took a deep breath. "Before I met you, my family made a deal with another family. A deal that was supposed to decide my future." My heart tightened. "What kind of deal?" "A marriage agreement." The room suddenly felt cold. "A marriage agreement?" I whispered. Daniel nodded. "I was supposed to marry someone else." I looked away, trying to hide the tears forming in my eyes. "So when you met me, what was I? A mistake?" "No!" he said quickly. "You were the first real choice I ever made." I looked back at him. "Then why is she back?" Daniel froze. I knew I had touched the secret he was avoiding. "The woman you saw today..." I continued. "The one who called you." His face changed. "Her name is Isabella." The name felt like a warning. "She wants you back." Daniel shook his head. "She wants my family's power. She never loved me." "How do I know you are telling me the truth?" He stepped closer. "Because if I wanted that life, I would have chosen it years ago. But I chose you." Before I could answer, my phone suddenly rang. Unknown number. I answered. A cold voice spoke from the other side. "Do you really think Daniel chose you because he loves you?" My blood ran cold. "Who is this?" A quiet laugh followed. "The person who knows the truth about your past." I looked at Daniel. The caller continued. "Ask him why your family disappeared. Ask him why your lives were connected before you even met." The call ended. I stood there, frozen. Daniel’s face turned pale. "You heard that?" I nodded slowly. "What does it mean, Daniel?" He remained silent. And that silence gave me the answer. There was another secret. A secret bigger than the marriage agreement. A secret that connected our families before fate brought us together. I stepped back. "Tell me everything." Daniel looked at me with tears in his eyes. "Once I tell you the truth... you may never look at me the same way again." But I was done running from secrets. Because if our love was truly written by fate, then we had to face the truth together. No matter how painful it was. To be continued...
