Daniel stood frozen in the middle of the room.
Richard’s words kept repeating inside his mind.
“Your own mother was responsible for your father’s death.”
It was impossible.

At least, that was what Daniel wanted to believe.
His mother had been the kindest person he knew. She had protected him, loved him, and sacrificed everything for him. The thought that she could have been involved in his father’s death felt like a betrayal of everything he had ever known.
“You’re lying,” Daniel said coldly.
Richard remained calm.
“Am I?”
Daniel stepped closer.
“You have spent years manipulating everyone around you. Why should I believe a single word you say?”
Richard smiled.
“Because I have proof.”
The room became silent.
Amelia looked at Daniel, worried about what he might discover.
“Daniel,” she whispered, “don’t let him destroy you.”
But Daniel knew he had to hear the truth.
“Show me.”
Richard reached into his jacket and pulled out an old envelope.
“This was found among your father’s belongings.”
Daniel took it with shaking hands.
The envelope had his father’s name written on it.
He opened it carefully.
Inside was a letter.
His father’s handwriting.
Daniel read the first few lines, and his heart sank.
Daniel, if you are reading this, then the truth has finally been discovered.
His hands trembled.
There are people who will try to convince you that your mother betrayed me. Do not believe everything you hear.
Daniel stopped reading.
He looked up.
Richard’s expression changed slightly.
“What does it say?” Amelia asked.
Daniel continued.

Daniel slowly turned toward Richard.
“You knew about this letter.”
Richard said nothing.

The room felt colder.

“You cannot believe everything your father wrote,” he said.
Daniel folded the letter.
“You lied.”

Amelia watched Daniel carefully.

Richard left without another word.

Later that night, Amelia found him sitting alone outside.
The powerful businessman everyone feared looked broken.
“I don’t know what to believe anymore,” Daniel admitted.
Amelia sat beside him.
“Believe what your heart tells you.”
Daniel looked at her.
“What if my whole life has been built on lies?”
“Then we rebuild it with the truth.”
Her words gave him strength.

The next morning, Daniel visited his mother’s old room.

Daniel opened it.

If you have found this, then the secrets of our family have finally reached you.
I need you to know that your father and I loved each other until the end. But someone wanted us separated.
Daniel continued reading.
Richard was never satisfied with what he had. He wanted everything your father owned. When your father discovered his betrayal, Richard tried to destroy our family.
Daniel’s eyes filled with anger.

Daniel held his breath.
“Who?”

“Your closest friend.”
Daniel’s face changed.
His best friend.
The person who had stood beside him for years.

As Daniel looked at Amelia, he realized the battle was far from over.
