Chapter 7:Fifth grade sickness

When I was in the Fifth grade at East Leonard Elementary, some of us students took the M.E.A.P. test before the others. I was an advanced reader in the fifth grade. Before I took the test, I was feeling fine, but after I got done, I began to have a major hot and cold flash. one minute I was hot, the next minute I was cold. I went back to class and told my assistant teacher and she took me to the nurse. The nurse took my temptress, she read out loud and it said my temperature was 103.7 that's fever running. Mother was called and she came and picked me up. I knew she wasn't happy about missing work. She sent me upstairs with some movies to watch. It was fine, but I could have used some company. While everyone was downstairs laughing, I was in bed being sick. As the days went by, instead of getting better, I got worse. I began to faint more frequently, I began to lose my balance, lost of appetite, and lost of strength. I had to be rushed to the hospital, cause my parents didn't know what else to do. I can tell, my parents weren’t happy about this. I couldn't even eat my favorite meals. so the only thing I could drink was PediaSure. It gave me my strength back slowly, and I was getting better to walk around and not pass out. Every summer, my mom runs a picnic for her school. She's now the secretary of a school for children that are deaf. The school is very nice, clean, and very organized. I loved going g to these events with her and helping get things set up. My family has this antique cotton candy-making machine. while mother was swirling, I was holding the paper cones. one minute I was feeling great, the next minute I woke up on the ground. I tried to get up, but my mother told me to stay down. all around me, people were crowded around me to make sure I was okay. we left the picnic around 7 pm and made it home close to 9 pm. Eventually, I was well enough to go back to school. it was a cool, crispy, autumn morning. My strength was about 70-80 percent back. when I got back to school, the teacher was busy switching classrooms. we were moving Into my fourth-grade classroom. I wasn't supposed to carry heavy things, but I was the only one strong enough to do so. Mr. Belong was my fifth-grade teacher, and he and I weren't very fond of each other. He bopped me on my forehead, he pretended to cough on me, and he pinch me. It made me uncomfortable.
