Ava's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the sterile smell of a hospital room. She winced, her head pounding in protest. What happened? She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her body, forcing her back onto the bed.
Her friends, Sarah and Emily, hovered around her, their faces etched with concern. "Ava, you're awake! Oh, thank god," Sarah exclaimed.
Ava's gaze shifted between them, confusion and panic rising. "What...what happened? Where's Ethan?"
The last thing she had remembered was walking hand in hand with Ethan on their way to campus,
the rest of her memories were blur.
Emily hesitated, exchanging a nervous glance with Sarah. "Ava, we need to talk to you about what happened."
Ava's heart raced as she struggled to remember. "What is it? Where's Ethan?"
Sarah's voice was gentle but evasive. "Ava, you've been in an accident. You've been hurt pretty badly."
Ava's mind raced, fragments of memories resurfacing. A night walk, a car, a scream... "No, no, no...Ethan!"
Her friends' expressions told her everything, but they didn't say a word. Ava's world crumbled around her, her heart shattering into a million pieces.
Ava's mind reeled as the reality of Ethan's death hit her like a ton of bricks. She felt like she was drowning in a sea of grief, unable to catch her breath. Her vision began to blur, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
Sarah and Emily tried to hold her up, but Ava's legs gave out beneath her. She felt herself falling into a dark abyss of despair.
"Ava, no! Oh my god, Ava!" Sarah screamed, her voice panicked.
Ava's world went black as she fainting, her body crashing to the hospital floor.
Sarah rushed to her side, shaking her gently. "Ava, wake up! Oh my god, please wake up!"
But Ava was unresponsive, her body limp and lifeless.
Sarah's eyes welled up with tears as she grabbed her phone and dialed the hospital's emergency number. "We need a doctor in here, stat! My friend has fainted, and I think she's in shock!"
The nurse rushed in, followed by a team of doctors. They surrounded Ava's lifeless body, their faces grave with concern.
"Let's get her back on the bed," one of the doctors ordered, his voice firm and commanding.
As they lifted Ava onto the bed, Sarah held her hand, tears streaming down her face. "Ava, please wake up. Please come back to us."
The doctor's eyes narrowed as he gazed at Ava, his expression a mix of concern and fascination. "We need to run some tests," he murmured, his voice low and serious. "Please, let's get her stable first."
He turned to Sarah and Emily, his eyes firm. "Ladies, I need to ask you to step outside for a moment. We need to attend to Ava's...condition."
Sarah and Emily exchanged a worried glance, but the doctor's firm tone brooked no argument. They reluctantly nodded and filed out of the hospital room, leaving Ava in the care of the medical team.
