As they walked deeper into the woods, the trees seemed to close in around her, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. Ava's heart raced with every step, her breath coming in short gasps.
Her eyes widened in shock as the police officer's body began to shift and contort, his uniform ripping and tearing as he transformed into a completely different person. The handcuffs fell away from her wrists as the officer's arms morphed into slender, pale limbs.
Ava stumbled back, her heart racing with fear, as the officer's face elongated and his features rearranged themselves into those of a young girl with long, white hair and piercing green eyes.
The girl's gaze locked onto Ava's, and she felt a chill run down her spine. "Who are you?" Ava demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
The girl smiled. "Ryker sent me to protect you," she said, as if that explained everything.
Ava's confusion grew. "Who is Ryker? And what do you mean by 'protect' me?"
The girl chuckled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "All in good time, Ava. First, let's get you to safety back to the pack."
Ava's thoughts swirled as she stumbled after the girl. "Wait, what magic did you use to transform like that? And what do you mean by 'the pack'?"
The girl laughed, her white hair fluttering in the wind. "Oh, Ava, you have so much to learn. Let's just say...we're not just any ordinary wolves."
Ava's eyes widened as she realized what the girl was implying. "Wolves? As in...shape-shifters?"
The girl grinned, her teeth sharp and pointed. "The very same. And you, Ava, are one of us."
Ava's world spun upside down as she struggled to comprehend the impossible. Werewolves existed? And she was one of them? No, this had to be some wild dream or hallucination. But the girl's words echoed in her mind, "Ryker sent me to protect you." Who was Ryker, and what did he have to do with all of this?
