Soulmates

“You’re back. What took you so long?” Yasmine inquires, seeing him enter her room. Tristan immediately handed her the bigger package without speaking and sat down on her bed. Yasmine peeled the package open and confirmed to see if it was the same. Tristan on the other hand opened his own purchase and kneeled into it like it was a toy. “What’s that?” Yasmine peered curiously after putting away her gift. “Bought it. It seemed nice” “Yeah right. With the way you’re attached to it, it’s not only nice. Leo must’ve given that to you” “No, I bought it. He gave me that gift of yours for free” “Really?! And how much did you get this?” “About 30 Dalis” “That’s a steal! Even I don’t get discounts like that! Tell me your secret!” Yasmine latched on to his lapels and pulled his face close. He pushed her face away and unhooked himself from her grip. “Ew, you stink! Go wash up” “I do not stink! You can’t say that to a lady!” “Yasmine…...sorry to break this to you, but you’re no lady…” “Excuse me?! I am the fairest lady in the land. How dare you?!” “There are men fairer than you” “Joseph doesn’t count! Neither does Leo!” “........sure” “What does that mean?!” “........Nothing” “You did it again!” “Hey! Keep it down you two!” The door slammed open and a prince who was largely identical to the two on the bed barged in. His hair was shorter than Tristan’s, reaching the back of his head but he was no less handsome. “August, tell Tristan that I’m the fairest in the land!” “Fairest my foot! There are men who are fairer than you!” “Hey!” “Well, well, they’re at it again” Emily, the second princess, walked in. Behind her was a much shorter princess, who was only 4 feet, 11 inches, Phoebe, the first princess. The two had on short white gowns with thin straps. They sat comfortably on Yasmine’s bed. “If we're talking about the fairest in the land, shouldn’t that be our gender fluid sibling, Tristan?” “I’m male Phoebe” Tristan frowned.  “With that long hair, you’re not” “Your whole body is softer than silk. A few touch-ups on your face and you’d be a beautiful princess. You can’t argue” “Yes I can” “But I’m a real princess” Yasmine was close to tears. “You’re a brute. Better accept it and top Joseph already” August huffed. “How many times would I say this? We are not together!” “Yeah right” the siblings rolled their eyes. “He’s my butler. Leonard is more my type” “Who’s that?” Phoebe asked eyes narrowed. “Oh, he’s Tristan’s soulmate” “Right…...wait, WHAT?!” The three siblings exclaimed. The concept of soulmates was a somewhat ancient concept for the werewolves. The legend went, once a wolf was born, their soul was split in two. Being wolves, they are temporarily complete but they would die after six centuries of not having a mate. Since they lived for a long time so six centuries wasn’t an awful lot. They also had hibernation periods.  Almost all the royal siblings were mateless. In fact, only one of the royal siblings had a mate and she was the heir to the throne. The oldest of them all, Phoebe, was 596, still without a mate. Tristan having a mate was good news. He was 345 already. But the fact that he was male…… “Can we meet him?!” They exclaimed, their eyes shining.  “No! You guys are absolutely nosey! You’d bother him” They clicked their tongues in distaste and left the room. When they were gone, Tristan glared at Yasmine. “Why did you say that?!” “Don’t yell at me” she pouted. “Phoebe was there! You wanted her to feel bad?!” “No. But it had to be said” “You…..! Fine! But don’t tell him” “Why?!” “Just don’t! It’s not your business. I’ll tell him when it is time” “When would that be?!” Tristan ignored his ever-nosey sister and walked out too.
