Chapter Seven Audrey watched Merrick sharpen the broken end of the sapling into a point as she ate the carrots. They did little to help with her hunger pains. How long would they be stuck in this world? Or realm as Merrick called it. He looked up from his whittling, meeting her gaze from across the room. His hands stilled. She looked away, hoping the warmth she felt in her cheeks could be attributed to the fire she sat near rather than the embarrassment she felt at having been caught watching him. Jordan leaned close. “Should we be panicking?” Audrey shrugged. “What about him?” Jordan glanced at Merrick who’d returned to whittling. “We don’t know him.
