Chapter 37: Mystery

''Kyo wake up!'' Lovely said while Kyo was in the pushing bed. They are now on their way to the emergency room. It is what Lovely is thinking right now, that she is frustrated about what Kyo did. She knows how much Kyo loves Annie but she did not expect that he could do this to Annie. That over his love for Annie is his life. ''Lovely'' Dr. Avida said while looking at Kyo, ''Dr. Avida. I will be the one who will be assigned to check Kyo.'' Another doctor came to Dr. Avida. She just nods, she can't be the one who handles it since she is not in the emotional capacity to do it. She is nervous about what will happen to her son. Lovely just hugged Dr. Avida, ''He will be fine, mom'' Lovely said to her. She is even worried about what will happen to her brother, ''What happened?!'' Lara said. She was still catching her breath. She ran as fast as she could after she found out what happened to Kyo. ''He ate Annie's food because he is her bodyguard now and it turns out that the food is poison.'' Lovely said, after Lara heard it she was crying, ''Shh, she will be fine.'' Dr. Avida said to his wife, ''I will do everything for him to survive that. Later, they will check him. I will be assigned on the following days of his staying here.'' Lara just hugged Dr. back. Avida. While Kyo is in the emergency room, Annie is in her room locked up. She is still asleep because of her aunt's injection into her. The purpose of it was for her to calm down. Her aunt now knew what Annie's relationship with Kyo was. She didn't want her niece to be hurt but she needed to get away from Annie in that restaurant since the purpose of poisoning Annie's food was to kill her. ''Lexy,'' Elizabeth called her assistant. She is now in Annie's room looking at her, peacefully sleeping in her mom's room. Elizabeth asked them to put Annie in Divina's room. It is for Annie to be calm and for her to be able to know what Elizabeth is trying to do with her. That she is not an enemy here, but a family. ''Yes madam?'' Lexy said, ''Can you please give me information about Lovely and her family.'' Elizabeth wanted to know more about Lovely. She only has a copy of the information about Kyo but it is still enough. ''Dig more and deeper. I have this feeling that she has something to do with what happened earlier.'' Lexy just bowed to Elizabeth and went away.

Elizabeth had been thinking about what happened earlier. She thought that restaurant was suggested by Lovely and even the waiter was suspicious. Elizabeth dialed her phone, she is contacting someone that she can help, ''Vabiera.'' she said, [Castro, it's been a long time since we chat.] she gets the envelope near her table and looked at the pictures of Annie's friends including Zyreel, Jenlyn, Gill, Vyrone, and Kyo. ''I have something favor for you,'' Elizabeth said the other line laughing at what Elizabeth is saying [You know that I do not do favor] Elizabeth had no choice to accept Vabiera's offer. Vabiera is the father of Jenlyn Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend. ''You can ask me a favor. For us to be quits.'' Elizabeth said. If this man wants a game, then I will give him the game. That is what Elizabeth's mind is thinking about. [That's a deal. What favor do you want me to do?] the other line said, he is smoking in the front of their house while looking at his workers assembling guns and weapons. ''I would like to have more information about the restaurant, including all the waiters. And a piece of information about what happened to it earlier today. My assistant will give you the details.'' Elizabeth said. She went to the veranda of Divina's room and got her cigarette in her pouch. This is now the first time that she has smoked. The last time she smoked was when Divina died. [Okay Castro. Will send you immediately the details] after Vabiera said that she ended the call. While she is smoking, she is reading all the information about the people that surround Annie. She dialed again and called Melissa, [Elizabeth?] the other line said, ''I'm sorry but we can't make it to your dinner. Annie is sleeping taking a rest.'' Elizabeth said because they had planned to have a family dinner since Sweeney is now fine. She is now regaining her strength after the accident happened. And she wanted Annie to know that. [What happened to Annie?] Melissa said, she sounded worried. ''We just had a commotion earlier. Annie's food is poison. And Kyo tastes it before her.'' Melissa was shocked at what Elizabeth said, [How is Kyo?] Melissa said, ''He is in an emergency. My guards are with him and I have no update on what happened to him.'' [I will talk to mom about what happened. You both take care.] Melissa said and hung up her phone. She is reading first the details about Zyreel, while she is drinking a coffee. While she was reading, she saw something in the garden that she could see from above on the veranda. She thought that there was someone in there. She went to Divina's cabinet and got the pistol. She loaded the gun. She knows how to use this because of self-defense. She jumped from the veranda down to the first fall. Good thing that Elizabeth is an athlete. She ran away towards the location that she saw from above. I think there is someone who is following them. Her instinct doesn't change and she wanted to prove to Annie that she wanted to be fine now with her. She doesn't even care about her life. Elizabeth wanted to be alive just for the sake of Annie. She didn't want Annie to die because of their problem right now.

"Kyo!" Annie said. Kyo was shocked when she saw Annie, "Why are you here? You are not safe here." He said while looking at Annie. When Kyo said that Annie was now crying, "Shh I'm fine, don't worry." He said while caressing Annie's face. "I just came here to check on you. I will come back again tomorrow." Annie said to Kyo. Kyo pulled Annie towards his arms to hug her. Annie didn't mind what she was thinking. She also hugged Kyo back. She felt that she missed him so much. "Please sleep beside me," Kyo said. He is scared of Annie's situation, but he is more than scared if he leaves Annie. He didn't want Annie to be alone. Annie just nodded and lay down on Kyo's side. ''I will sleep here but I will also wake up later. I need to go back to the house.'' Annie said while looking at Kyo. Kyo is just closing his eyes and hugging Annie. ''How are you?'' Kyo said to her and he looked her into her eyes ''I am the one who should ask you that.'' Annie said to Kyo.

Kyo laughed and kissed Annie's forehead. ''I miss you, Annie,'' he said. Annie smiled. She also misses Kyo, but she knows that this is not the time for them to be with her, especially about what his family is about. ''Sleep now Kyo. You need a rest.'' After Annie said that, Kyo fell asleep. Annie just waited for Kyo to fall asleep and she went out. She silently went out. She knows that what she is doing is wrong. She already has an idea of what their family does. But she can't take it. She loves Kyo. She is now walking slowly to their house because she just ran away. She knows that her aunt didn't like involving Kyo, especially with what happened. But Annie can't take it worrying about him ''Where have you been?'' She was shocked when she heard a voice at her back, ''I just went out, aunt Elizabeth.'' she stand and went in front of me ''You know that you are not safe to be alone, Annie! Why are you so stubborn?!'' Elizabeth is now mad at what Annie did. She did not expect that Annie would do that. ''I'm a sorry aunt,'' Annie said and hugged her aunt. When she hugged Elizabeth she saw a bloodstain on her shoulder. She was curious why she had stained her clothes. ''It's okay Annie. Next time, please tell me where you are going,'' she said. Annie just nodded but she couldn't put her eyes on the blood that trained on her aunt's shoulder. She thinks that something happened earlier. ''Why Annie?'' Elizabeth asked. She is curious about what Annie is looking at. Then she remembered that she had been out to kill someone. And she had just changed her clothes. She didn't take a bath because she saw Annie going back to the house. ''Aunt, did something happen earlier?'' Annie said while looking at her aunt in the eyes. Elizabeth just smiled at her and said, ''No, Annie. Go back to your room and rest. We are early for tomorrow. We need to go to Guillaume.'' she said. Annie just nodded her head and went up to her room. While she was walking up the stairs, she saw some stains on the carpet. Out of curiosity, she looked into it, it was blood again. ''Good evening Ms. Annie, do you need something?'' She was shocked when someone was talking behind her and it was Lexy. ''Nothing, I am looking for my clip. I think it felt down here.'' Annie said while looking around the carpet, ''Let our maids look into it.'' Lexy said. ''Thank you'' Annie said and went up. Lexy looked at Annie while going up to her room and looking at the carpet. She already saw Annie who was looking at the stain on the carpet, ''What happened?'' Elizabeth said to Lexy, ''I think she saw your bloodstain on your shoulder.'' Elizabeth looked at her shoulder ''How's the body?'' She said to Lexy, ''I already clean your mess, Elizabeth.'' she said, Elizabeth sit on the chair and sigh ''Next time you move, call me. What if something happened to you?'' Lexy said while looking at Elizabeth. Aside from being her assistant, Lexy was also her friend. She looked at Elizabeth like her sister. She already knew Divina. Lexy both cares about the sisters. And Lexy didn't want Elizabeth to be dead.

''I'm sorry. That man was so fast. I need to take action.'' Elizabeth said, ''How do you explain this to Annie? She already saw you with that stain.'' Lexy said and got a cup of tea for Elizabeth, ''I will tell her tomorrow. I just don't want to tell her right now. I am scared that she will look at me like a murderer.'' Lexy gave the cup of tea to Elizabeth, ''Drink, and after that rest, okay?'' Elizabeth smiled at Lexy thinking that it is a good thing that she have Lexy on her side ''Thank you, Lexy.'' Elizabeth said, ''I don't want to lose you Elizabeth. Annie needs you.'' Elizabeth looks at the ceiling, she already knows that. She already accepts the fact that someday she will leave Annie. ''Do you have news of my husband?'' Elizabeth just said. She was busy with Annie so that she had forgotten her husband. ''I called him earlier and he said that he decided to come here to had to see how you are.'' Lexy said and called a maid to remove the stain on the carpet, ''Change the carpet or better burn it.'' she said, ''I didn't know that he have the ability to exert an effort just for me. After our wedding, I didn't see him as my husband. We never usually see each other.'' She said while laughing. She just laughed at the pain that she had been through. ''I think he is curious about Annie. Did your parents know that you were here?'' Elizabeth looked at Lexy. Her parents already knew about Elizabeth going back to know to protect Annie because the man that she killed was the man who had an order from her parents. ''Yes, they already knew. I have already killed their minions. It is a message to them that I am not the Elizabeth Castro that they have.''

ANNIE'S P.O.V

‘’Annie wake up.’’ I open my eyes and I saw aunt Elizabeth waking me up. But one thing that I notice is she has a stain on her face and all over her clothes, ‘’Go somewhere else, far away!’’ she said while crying. I don’t know how will I react. Then suddenly someone from behind his back shot her. Aunt went down to the floor then I saw Kyo holding a gun in his hand looking at me angrily. ‘’Kyo…’’

‘’Annie!’’ I woke up again and came back to my senses when it is only a dream. Thankfully it is a dream, what a nightmare. ‘’Are you okay?’’ Lexy said while looking at me. I look at everything around me even the floor. I can feel that it is real. I don’t know how will I take it if Kyo will kill my aunt. Is this dream a signal or sign to me? ‘’Here Annie, water,’’ Lexy said and gave me water. ‘’Thank you.’’ I said, she put the glass on the side table and get the plastic cloth on the chair and put it on my bed, ‘’Elizabeth said, wear this outfit. She is down downstairs at the dining table. Waiting for you to come down.’’ She said and went away. I look at the dress, it Is a long red dress. I went to the bathroom to take a bath. As the water flows into my body, I still think about my dream. I did not know that Kyo’s angry face could be so much scary if I will face him like that. I don’t want to see him like that, it is painful. I came back to my senses again when I drop the soap on the floor. I pick it up and finish my bath. I am now drying my hair. I put on some makeup and wear the dress that my aunt wants me to wear. We are non on the schedule of going to the Guillaume. I did not expect that my aunt is having a connection with them. From what I know Castro and Guillaume are not on good terms, that’s why they only have a secret wedding that day. As I am thinking about it my standard in loving someone becomes reach. I can see how my dad treats my mom, and I am praying that I will encounter a man like my dad.

After a moment to myself, I went down, and then I saw my aunt pouring a wine. I just notice that ever since we met, she loves drinking wine. I can see that our cellar is running out of stock. ‘’it’s still morning’’ I said to her because she is now finishing drinking the one bottle of wine, it is her favorite wine. ‘’ I did not notice that I will finish off this wine.’’ She said and smiled at me, ‘’Come, Annie, let’s eat.’’ I sit and there is lots of food on the table. It is only for the two of us but the food here is good for how many people. ‘’Are you tense, aunt?’’ I asked because she looks intense maybe because we are going to my family. ‘’This is the first time that I will meet them and I don’t know how will I act in front of them. If I know your father’s family is not on good terms with us.’’ She said while looking at her wine glass. ‘’Just act normal, aunt,’’ I said and she smile. ‘’I am done eating,’’ I said. After minutes of eating, I am done. I don’t want to be full in case my Tita melissa will cook for us.

‘’Wait for me here. I just change my clothes.’’ My aunt said. I looked at her closely to see if she is fine because I don’t want her to face my family that tipsy. It Is still morning and she is now drunk. It will be hard to be with her if ever that happened. My grandmother would be mad at her. ‘’Let’s go, darling.’’ She said, I hold her hand and I can see in her eyes that she appreciates what I did. ’Thank you, Annie.’’ She said, I just nod and went to the car. We are on our way to our house. I think the house was not the same anymore. After hours of driving, we are now I our gate. From this afar, I can see that our house looks old. I can still imagine the place where I use to live. This is the place where I grew up and where I used to play. ‘’Are you okay, Annie?’’ She said and I am still looking out the window. ‘’Yes aunt. I just miss this place.’’ I said. We are nowhere in front of the house, ‘’It is quiet here.’’ aunt said and look around. ‘’Elizabeth!’’ my tita Melissa said and hugged her. ‘’Annie! I missed you.’’ She said and hugged me also, ‘’Where is grandma?’’ I said and looked at her back. She went back to the house and push a wheelchair where my grandma is sitting. She still has a bandage on her face. ‘’Annie?’’ she said and looked at me. I am happy that she still notices me. I hugged her but not too tight because I know that her body is still weak, ‘’I’ve been waiting for you.’’ She said and caressing my face. She also pats my head and holds my hand. ‘’I’m sorry grandma. I am busy lately. I miss you so much.’’ I said and I kissed her forehead. I am now emotional because I miss her. I did not expect that this will happened to her if I had only owned her side that day. I could protect her. ‘’This is not your fault, my Annie.’’ She said and smiled at me. I just nod and hold her hand and kissed it. ‘’Come let’s go inside.’’ Tita Melissa said, ‘’Who is this woman?’’ My grandma said while looking at Elizabeth. ‘’Good morning. I am Elizabeth, Annie’s aunt. Divina’s sister.’’ After she said that my grandma change her mood, ‘’I don’t want you here in my house. GET OUT!’’
