Chapter 28: The Truth

"I'm home!" Melissa said while entering Guillaume's house. She is the youngest of Guillaume, the only daughter. She was pregnant at a young age by a mystery guy and, because of that, her family is in problems. That's why the great Guillaume is disappointed in her. Because of disappointment, she chose to live on her own. Her mother, Sweeney, insisted on still using her surname. "Melissa, you're here," Lavinia said while looking at her from head to toe. "Yes, I'm back. Where is Annie?" Melissa said while also looking at her from head to toe. They are not on good terms since Melissa had the feeling that they would pity Annie. "Ask your mom, since Annie's birthday she went away and we didn't know where she is right now" Melissa had a bad feeling about what happened. "Melissa darling!" Sweeney said and hugged her. "I miss you so much!" Melissa hugger her mom, "I missed you too, mom!" She looked at Lavinia while hugging her mom, Lavinia just rolled her eyes and walk away. Ever since Lavinia came to their life, she knows that Lavinia didn't love her brother. She knew that she only said yes for money, not for love. That's why she is really not getting along with her. "Mom, can we have a coffee from the outside." Melissa said, she wanted to know what happened to Annie because it had been a long time since she saw her. "why not here?" She sighed and whispered to her mom "I think Annie is in danger." Her mom gasped and get her bag "Let's go. I want to know more about your trip, Melissa" Sweeney knows what Melissa is talking about. That's why she gets along with Melissa. Ever since they became rich, her family has always been in danger. She is always thinking twice about what is happening in her surroundings. She also knows that Annie will be in danger. That's why she hired someone who could follow her. Sweeney knows what is happening in Annie's life. The one that follows Annie is sending her pictures of what she is doing. But everything is ruined when Kyo encounters him. The spy called her about what happened and instead of being mad, she laughed because she knew that there was someone who was protecting her and had stopped. She stopped hiring people to follow her. That's the last thing she knew about Annie. The man that was following her didn't give her information that Annie was being followed and being followed by someone else or have a hint that she would be in danger. After minutes of Melissa's driving, they arrived. "Tell me now, what do you know about Annie", Sweeney asked. Melissa sipped her coffee and looked at her surroundings. She looked at her mom, she got her phone and typed.

Lower your voice, someone is listening from your back.

Sweeney is just looking at her while Melissa is typing on her phone. Sweeney felt that she was sending a message to her. After Melissa sent her message, she drank her coffee. "I'm sorry mom, some clients keep messaging me. They are excited that I am here now in the Philippines." Sweeney smiled. ''Of course darling! It's been many years since we saw each other. Zach is the only one who is coming here. Landry and Zach are very close." Melissa nodded and smiled. "Wait, I think the management is messaging me right now, you know our company is busy right now because of some technical issue." Sweeney said, for her to be able to see what Melissa texted her, after she saw it she is in shock and low-key looking at her surroundings, "what's wrong mom?" Melissa asked for them not able to notice that they know. "Something came up on the office. Would you mind if I excuse myself?" Sweeney said. She wanted to get out and change locations where they could freely talk to each other. "Sure mom, let's bond together soon." Sweeney kissed her cheeks and whispered "old house." The man that was following them closely looked at them and Melissa saw it. That's why she hugged Sweeney. "Oh come on Mom, I am not going anywhere. I am staying here in the Philippines for good. Don't worry", walked away and went to the parking lot. She called the driver to pick her up. When the driver arrived, she insisted on driving the car. The driver gave her the keys. She didn't want anyone to drive the car because she knew that in this situation, no one was worth trusting. When she was driving the car, she saw that a black car was following her. She just noticed it a while ago, "what is happening?" She decided to step on the gas to full speed but it seemed the gas and the brake were broken. She knows that there is someone who wants to kill her. She is now panicking and doesn't know what to do. Since she couldn't control the brake, she decided to use this time to message Melissa and Annie. She knows that it is her time. After messaging it, she decided to turn and bumped the car into the wall and everything went black.

Melissa is still in the coffee shop and suddenly she feels something that is not right. After a minute, she saw the message from her mother and she was tense. She didn't know how to control it because she knew that the cause of her mother's death was the man that followed them. She called Zach to fetch her. "Zach, come here to pick me up. Your grandmother is in the hospital". After calling her son, she just sat there waiting for Zach to come over. After Zach receives the call, he immediately dressed up. He was with Landry. He didn't even know that they slept with each other. Ever since they were a child, he had known that Landry was a woman. And there is nothing wrong with what they are doing because Zach is not Melissa's son. After he dressed up, Landry woke up "Where are you going?" Landry put the blanket on her body, Zach kissed her forehead. "Sweeney had an accident." Landry was shocked. "I'm coming with you, she is my grandma, our grandma." Landry is crying because even though she hates Annie, Sweeney is treating her with love that she didn't get from her mother. "Shhh yes we are going, but I will pick up my mom first and we are all going to the hospital." Zach said to Landry, "your mom is home?", "yes, dress up," Zach said and Landry dress up, she back to being a guy again. After they dressed up, they went immediately to Melissa. Melissa saw them. " Landry". She hugged Landry, "Everything will be alright Tita, let's go see grandma."

Zach drove to the hospital where Melissa was in the back while Landry was in the passenger seat. Zach and Landry were looking at each other holding her hand. " She will be okay." Melissa looked at them and she smiled. Melissa already knew what was between them. She had known that ever since they were a child, Zach liked Landry. She thinks that there is nothing wrong with that, since they are not related by blood.

''Melissa'' Bradley is waving his hand for Melissa to see them. Melissa just looked at him with rolled eyes. ''What is it now?'' She said, ''I wanted you to meet my friend, Clyde.'' Bradley put his arms on Clyde and made his hand shake Melissa's hands. Melissa looked at her brother with a what-the-hell-is-this-look? Her brother just smiled, ''Hi Melissa!'' Divina shouted and ran towards her and hugged her, '' I hope you can give me a hug, darling.'' Bradley said to Divina ''Of course love'' they hugged each other and Melissa was rolling her eyes again. Melissa, Bradley, and Divina are best friends. Melissa really loves Divina as a sister and Divina is Bradley's girlfriend. ''You look horrible, Melissa,'' Lavinia said. Lavinia is known as the sister of Divina because Divina's parents adopted Lavinia. ''Shut up!'' Melissa said to Lavinia. Melissa has not been on good terms with Lavinia, ever since. And lastly, ''Kate!'' Kate is Melissa's childhood friend. Melissa and Kate are in the same year while Bradley, Divina, Lavinia, and Clyde are seniors. Kate waved her hand to Melissa and smiled. Kate is the sweetest friend that she has. ''Hi, I'm Clyde.'' They are all shocked when Clyde talks to Kate. Because of that, they think Clyde has a crush on Kate. After years, Kate and Clyde are in a relationship. Bradley, Divina, Lavinia, and Clyde are now graduated, while Kate and Melissa are now at senior level. ''How was your relationship with Clyde?'' Melissa asked while they were eating on the bench. ''I have something to tell you.'' Kate said while looking at Melissa, ''What is it?'' ''I am pregnant.'' Melissa was shocked at what Kate said, ''Did Clyde knows about this?'' Melissa asked. ''No, I wasn't able to tell him because I am scared that my family will know. You know my family.'' ''You can't hide it from them,'' Melissa said, worrying about what would happen to Kate. ''Don't worry Melissa. I'm sure Clyde will never abandon me,'' Melissa and Kate hugged each other. Months passed. After graduation, Melissa didn't know what happened to Kate and Clyde, they had just been gone for a long time. When Melissa was walking home she saw Clyde on the floor holding a baby, near their house, ''Clyde what happened?'' Bradley ran towards Clyde as well as Kate. ''Kate died, she was pregnant and she didn't

tell me. She was born the baby but eventually, she died.'' Clyde was crying and he looked like someone was beating him up, ''Who did this to you?'' Bradley said, ''Kate's parents didn't accept our son. They said that when they find out Kate is pregnant she should have an abortion, they insisted. They planned that Kate would have the baby. They will throw him.'' Melissa is crying while listening to Clyde. She didn't know if she would be angry or not. She is blaming Clyde for everything but what he does know, Kate didn't tell him that she was pregnant, ''Actually, she was able to tell him but Kate's parents knew and locked her up. I just know this because her maid called me. They wanted my son to die. Also, when her maid heard it, she called me and gave me my son, but before I went there they were planning to kill me at my house. Good thing I escaped and saved my son'' Bradley hugged him, ''Bradley, can you take my son and take care of him? I can not take him on my side. I know his life will be in

danger.'' Bradley answered, Melissa, to carry his son ''I will take him.'' ''You are too young to be a mother!'' Bradley said to

Melissa ''He is the son of my best friend. Kate is dead and I didn't even have the chance to see her. This guy is the only thing that I have a memory of her. I will take full responsibility for this guy. You must say to our parents that I were pregnant and had a son.'' While Melissa and Bradley have been talking, Clyde disappeared from their sight.

Years have passed, Bradley is still searching for Clyde, but he still, no, doesn't have any information about him. Melissa was driven out of the Guillaume as she raised Clyde's son as her own in the states. And she named it Zach.

Melissa thought that she had gone to the states to search for Clyde but she still didn't have any found there. After minutes, they are now in the hospital. Melissa ran towards the reception. "Sweeney Guillaume?" She asked the nurse, " are you?" "I am her daughter, Melissa Guillaume." The nurse nodded and looked for the room "room 2224." After she said that, Melissa ran to that room. She saw lots of the press, media, and police in front of the room, "Ms. Melissa", the guard let her in, and Landry and Zach. When they are now in Sweeney's room. Melissa couldn't help herself but cry hysterically. "Mom, I didn't have a chance to talk to

you." She said while hugging her mom. Sweeney is in critical condition right now. The doctor said that the crash caused her brain damage. That leads to Sweeney being comatose. Only the machine is the reason why Sweeney is still alive. "Grandma! I am here." Landry said while holding Sweeney's hands. Zach is just comforting Melissa and Landry. Melissa promised herself that the one who was behind all of this would die. "What happened to mama?!" Lavinia entered the room panicking and asking what happened to Sweeney. When she saw Sweeney she immediately hugged her, "mama!" Crying, while Lavinia was crying, Melissa was just looking at her. She thinks that Lavinia is the suspect here. ''What?" Lavinia said while wiping her tears. Melissa just shrugged. Lavinia hugged her. "Everything will be okay. From now on I will handle the Guillaume company." She said and tapped Melissa's back. Landry just looked at his mother in disgust. She knows that her mom is happy about what happened, ever since she wanted to be the head of Guillaume's company and that will never happen if Sweeney is alive or Annie. Landry thinks that she is the reason behind Sweeney's accident. "I will handle the company," Melissa said while taking off Lavinia's hug. "What are you saying, Melissa? You are not even part of the co-owners" Lavinia smirked. "I am Melissa Guillaume. Daughter of Sweeney and Ferd, before dad died we had all the rights to handle it. Let me remind you, Lavinia, you are just a wife. I am

the daughter." Melissa said and walked out of the room. She doesn't want to cause trouble in that room. She has calmed herself. There is no press outside now, but there are still police and bodyguards who are guarding Sweeney's room. "Good day Ms. Melissa!" She came to her senses when Lovely got her attention. "I am detective Lovely," she said while showing her badge. "I am the one who handles this case. May I ask for your time to answer my questions?'' "Can we have a place where we can chat freely?" Melissa asked. She knows that there will be a chance that they will overhear if they talk to you from the outside. " I know that you are tired. We can have a chat tomorrow morning at this place. That is my office. Don't worry, it is safe." She said and looked at Melissa, the look that said trust me. "We can go now," Melissa said, and Lovely led the way. Lovely is the one who is driving and Melissa is in the passenger seat. Melissa knew everything and wanted to say all she knew. When they arrived at the office, they went to the interrogation room."Now tell me everything."
