Chapter 6: Slowly Falling

GILL'S P.O.V.

I was walking down the street because I didn't want to stay at home. They were too loud. Now I'm looking for a sense of peace. Today is a cloudy day, with no signs of rain. I put on my earphones when I saw Jenlyn and Zyreel holding a cake. I immediately ran to them because I didn’t see Annie.

''Hey, guys!'' They both shock me, and Zyreel automatically lifts her eyebrows.

''Gill, what are you doing here? Can you please mind your own business?'' she said and put the cake into her car.

''I don't see Annie. Where is she?'' I said while looking at her car, looking for Annie.

‘’Why do you ask?’’ Jenlyn said.

I immediately scratched my head because I didn't know what explanation I would tell them. Simply just want to see Annie. ''Nah, I just wanted to ask something. I better go now, see yah!'' I said. I decided to walk away when I remembered what I saw on the card of the cake box.

Happy birthday Annie!

‘’Wait.’’ They both looked at me with their curious faces again.

''What is it, Gill?'' Zyreel said.

‘’Is it Annie’s birthday?’’ If it’s her birthday, I had better go with them.

''What if it's her birthday, so what?'' Zyreel said.

''Can I come? Annie and I are close to each other. I just want to greet her happy birthday.''

''You can greet her, chat with her on her F.B. or when we see each other on Monday at school,'' Zyreel said. Her best friend is scary. She doesn't want me to be near Annie. Well, I totally understand that. They are just protecting her.

‘’Let him be Zy. Come inside the car.’’ Jenlyn said.

''Thank you so much, Jenlyn!'' I immediately got in the back seat, and while I was doing that, Zyreel didn't take off her eyes on me with her lifting eyebrows.

''Just so you know, a little reminder. It doesn't mean that we are fine going with you, it means you get our approval of Annie. You need to earn it, Gill.'' Zyreel said. I actually don't know what I am feeling right now. After the deep talks that we had, I can still smell her perfume and remember her eyes. Because of that, I just want to be with her. I want to protect her till my last breath. It might sound cliché, but that is what I am feeling right now.

''I will,'' I said, and they both smiled and rode to our destination. After an hour, I thought we would be going to Annie's home, but we ended up in a mountain park with the best view in the evening because of the city lights. For now, you can just see the sights of streets and buildings because it is still 2pm in the afternoon. It's not too hot since it's cloudy.

''This is her favorite spot. That's why we chose this as our spot for a picnic, since it's her choice for her birthday celebration,'' Zyreel said. What I like about Annie is she is really a simple girl. A girl that can show love unconditionally.

‘’So, what's your plan?'' They both smiled at me.

''Now we know what we will be going to do.'' Jenlyn gave me her key, and I am now looking at them as questionable.

‘’We will fetch Annie to her house. You are staying here since she wanted to ride a train.'' I nod with their plan. ''And you, Gill, you stay here in the car, arrange all the kinds of stuff for the surprises. I think you know what to do?'' Zyreel said. I looked at the trunk. Oh sht, I don't have a talent for this.

‘’Well, it's your problem now; let this be the start of your tasks with us,'' Zyreel said.

‘’You like Annie, right? Earn it.'' Jenlyn adds, and they both went away.

I am just sitting here on the grass; it's been 20 minutes since they have gone, and I still don't have any idea how to set up this. I looked at the sky. I remember this place when I lost. I was found by this sight. That's why I came up here out of curiosity. I am just alone and looking at the city lights. I know that day everyone is looking at me, but I am still here. Maybe I just want to get away with all the people that surround me. I am only a child, but I strangle with my family. I was peacefully sitting there when I saw a girl at my side crying. I was so shocked that day, since I knew that I was alone a while ago, someone was suddenly there beside me.

‘’What’s wrong’’ I said while looking at her. She was shocked when she saw me. She immediately cries after she looks at me.

‘’NO, NO, WHY ARE YOU CRYING?’’ I said because I was surprised by her reaction.

''Shh, stop crying, where was the last time you saw your parents,'' I said again. I think she is also lost. She points to the place, then I hold her hand to go there. We are both running and she is just following me. I saw a lady crying on the side of the car.

''M.O.M.!'' She immediately ran to her mom, and I went away.

‘’Annie, Oh my God! Where have you been? I am looking everywhere for you. I am worried.'' I heard her mom say and she was just crying for her mom.

''Hey, little boy, thank you!'' She said, and I looked back

and smiled at her.

After that, I went home since I already knew where I was. .. After a long time, I brought back the memories that I have here. I am now arranging the pieces of stuff for her birthday. I put the blanket on the grass and placed some baskets; sandwiches, fruits, and wine. I also put the 'Happy Birthday' on the truck. I think this is enough.

The first time I met Annie was when she was with her friends in the middle of the court, laughing at each other. It was the shining smile that I had ever seen in my entire life. I was dumbfounded by her beauty. She is so cute and straightforward. We were just in the first year of college at that time. Since I am new at the school, I've been looking for her name, and I don't know if it's a destiny, but when we were going home with Kyle. I heard Zyreel calling her name, 'Annie.' Such a beautiful name. I always see her day after class. Her innocent face is always what I like about her. And now I am looking at it right now, walking towards me wearing a beautiful long pink dress. Suddenly, everything around me is in slow motion.
