WRITER'S POV
The door shut behind James Romano with a quiet but final click. No slamming. No dramatics. Rain streaked silently down the tall windows, city lights glistening through like distant stars mocking his failure.
The mission was supposed to be clean.
It wasn’t.
James shrugged off his damp coat, draping it over the leather chair. His gloves followed. Only the tension in his jaw betrayed his calm.
The file was gone.
Weeks of work. Months of strategy.
His men had every advantage. But when complications mounted, James took control — personally. And still, someone beat him.
A shadow. Efficient. Disciplined. Surgical.
That wasn’t what disturbed him most.
It was who.
The intruder wore precision gear — identical to what his own men used. No insignias. No tells. But something was off. He couldn’t yet place it — and that irritated him.
James poured himself a drink. The amber liquid swirled inside the crystal glass as his mind calculated.
His phone vibrated.
"Speak."
His second-in-command spoke carefully. "Sir, we’ve reviewed the footage again. Nothing identifiable. No face. No prints. They were... extremely clean."
James’s gaze sharpened.
"You sound uncertain."
"The intruder’s build—" the man hesitated, "—lighter. Smaller. It could’ve been—"
"I asked for facts, not speculation."
"Yes, sir."
The line disconnected.
James stared out the rain-streaked window. Unknown variables didn’t last long in his world.
The door opened without a knock. Only one man would dare.
Luca stepped inside.
"You heard," James said.
"I heard."
"They’ve had months," James continued, voice edged. "I moved pieces, delayed negotiations, exposed assets — all to secure that file. And still, someone beat me."
Luca studied him. "Any idea who?"
"No," James replied. "Not Vipers. If it were, there’d be bodies. This was someone else."
"A freelancer?"
"Possibly," James said, then paused. "But something doesn’t fit."
"What?"
James’s eyes narrowed. "The movement. The fight. It was controlled. Efficient. But lighter." He dismissed the thought with a shake of his head. "Irrelevant for now. I want facts."
Luca nodded. "We’ll find them."
James finished his drink, voice cold. "They walked into my world. They won’t stay invisible for long."

The Interrogation
Morning came without sleep. The outside storm had quieted, but James Romano simmered beneath controlled calculation.
Inside a secured holding room, two guards stood like statues as James entered. The man tied to the chair froze.
James’s steps were slow, deliberate. His voice was ice.
"Tell me."
"Boss… I… I didn’t mean—"
James raised a hand. Silence reclaimed the room.
"You sold my information to the Vipers."
Tears gathered. "They forced me. My family—"
James studied him like broken machinery. "You feared them more than you trusted me."
"I panicked, boss—"
A sharp strike silenced his sobs.
"The Vipers are moving too aggressively," James said quietly. "That tells me we’ve not moved fast enough."
The man whimpered, but James had already turned.
"Clean this up."
The guards moved in. James exited, his mind calculating the next step. The Vipers had crossed a line.
James intended to respond.
With precision.
And fire.

The Release After the Storm
The rain still blanketed the city as James entered the penthouse lounge of The Argent. High ceilings, mahogany panels, chandeliers reflecting city lights like jewels.
James sat in a corner booth, black suit impeccable despite the earlier chaos. His tie loosened, shirt collar open slightly, exposing a hint of ink. He exuded quiet power.
The night’s violence clung faintly to him. Another betrayal handled. Another problem contained. But unfinished business gnawed beneath.
He sipped his whiskey, eyes distant.
Then, she approached.
Elegant. Intentional. Velvet dress hugging her curves, long legs in stilettos, red lips, smoky eyes. Confidence radiating off her.
She didn’t ask. She slid into the seat across from him, a small, calculated smile playing at her lips.
“Rough night?” she asked, voice smooth.
James glanced at her briefly, then returned to his drink.
"Manageable."
Her smile widened. “Maybe I can help you forget.”
He didn’t answer. She knew why she was there. This was transaction.
James set his glass down. His voice calm, firm.
"Upstairs."
Her breath caught slightly, but she obeyed.

The Suite
The luxury suite was already prepared — dim lighting, silk sheets, thick curtains shielding them from the world outside.
The door closed.
James wasted no time.
In one smooth motion, he gripped her waist and spun her into the wall. His hand wrapped around her jaw, tilting her face toward him.
"This what you came for?" he murmured.
“Yes,” she whispered.
That was all.
His lips crashed into hers — rough, consuming. His hands roamed, finding the hem of her dress, yanking it upward. Fabric tore slightly, but neither cared.
Her breath hitched as he pressed against her, one hand sliding beneath her thigh, hoisting her leg around his waist.
With precise movements, he unbuckled his belt. The sound of the metal buckle punctuated the silence before he drove himself into her with one deep, deliberate thrust.
Her head tipped back against the wall, gasping as he filled her.
James set a brutal rhythm, controlled yet merciless. Each motion was deliberate, powerful — her body jolting against the padded wall as his grip tightened possessively.
She moaned his name, nails biting into his shoulder.
But James remained locked in focus — no affection, no softness — only release.
Her c****x struck hard, her body trembling against him. But James didn’t pause.
He lifted her easily, carrying her to the bed.
Without breaking rhythm, he flipped her onto her stomach, pulling her hips high as he entered her again from behind — deeper now, his pace sharp, precise.
Her cries filled the room as he moved with unrelenting force — until his own release finally came, breaking from his throat as he emptied himself inside her.

Aftermath
Minutes later, James stood beside the bed, buttoning his shirt with mechanical precision. His face unreadable.
She lay sprawled across the silk sheets, breath unsteady. She glanced at him, lips parting — but thought better of speaking.
No conversation. No names. No promises.
Just another night.
He lit a cigarette, eyes fixed on the dark skyline as smoke curled around his features.
By morning, neither would remember the other.
Because in James Romano’s world — everything was temporary.
Except power.

CYNTHIA MORGAN’S POV
The towering glass walls of Romano Enterprise gleamed under the sun — sharp and intimidating, like the man who ruled it.
As I stood before the entrance, I swallowed hard. This was it. My chance to crawl inside the belly of the beast and rip it apart.
The revolving doors slid open. The air inside was cool, sterile. Marble floors, gold linings, chandeliers — wealth dripped from every corner. People walked like they belonged here. Suits, dresses — sharp, high-class. No one smiled. Everyone minded their business.
I remembered Elena’s warning: The last secretary was sacked for betrayal. Tortured. Left as a warning.
No one crossed James Romano.
Yet here I was.
I clutched my folder of falsified documents tighter and approached the receptionist.
"Good morning," I offered a polite smile.
"Name?"
"Cynthia Morgan. Interview for the personal assistant position."
The receptionist checked the monitor. "Take the elevator to the 49th floor. Mr. Romano will see you shortly."
My stomach flipped at his name.
James Romano. The man who crushed my family.
The elevator ride felt eternal. Memories tried to invade — my parents forced into hiding while men like him thrived.
But not anymore.
The doors opened. Two guards waited at massive doors ahead. They gestured me forward. My heels clicked softly as I approached.
The doors opened.
And there he was.
James Romano sat behind a massive desk, morning light streaming behind him. Everything radiated control. Power. Danger.
But what caught me wasn’t the danger.
It was him.
He was devastatingly handsome — sharp jawline, dark eyes that cut through layers, thick black hair slicked back. His beauty was almost disarming.
For a second, my breath caught. Focus, Cynthia. You’re here to destroy him.
"Miss Morgan." His voice was deep, rich, commanding.
"Yes, sir," I steadied my voice.
He studied me, peeling me apart with his eyes.
The interview began. His questions came quickly — more interrogation than interview.
"Where did you previously work?"
"What were your duties?"
"Connections to law enforcement?"
"Ever approached by rivals?"
Some answers came easily. Others, I tread carefully. My cover had to hold.
But he was testing not just my answers, but my reactions.
At one point, I faltered.
"You hesitated," he said.
"I wanted to answer accurately, sir," I replied, holding his stare.
The tension thickened. My palms dampened, but I didn’t wipe them.
He stood.
Graciously tall.
He stepped toward me — close enough to inhale his expensive cologne.
His presence overwhelmed.
I forced myself not to flinch.
"Do you know what working for me means, Miss Morgan?"
"I do, sir."
"There are no second chances. Loyalty isn’t an option. It’s a requirement."
"My loyalty is unquestionable, Mr. Romano."
He studied me for a long moment. Then nodded.
"You’ll hear from my office."
As I walked out, legs steady despite my racing heart, one thing was certain:
The game had begun.
