“Hello sorry to disturb you but I'm here to give this to Jasmine Knight she works here” Sophie stated smiling at the elderly home desk. “Oh hey, Sophie sorry Jasmine’s not here right now,” Lindsey said “where is she,” Sophie asked, “she said she has an appointment and that she’ll be back. So till then Jessica’s filling in for her right now.” Lindsey explained “a doctor's appointment?” Sophie questioned. "yeah well that's what she said anyways" “Ok well I just needed to give her, her phone her mom said she left it at home.” Sophie said confused “ok if you want you can wait she said she’d be back in less than an hour” Lindsey offered. “Nah just give her, her phone for me,” Sophie said handing her the blue phone “will do see ya later than,” Lindsey said as she waved “yep and congrats on the engagement I'm happy for ya” Sophie congratulated. “Thanks hope you're coming to the wedding,” Lindsey said happily “and miss free cake heck yea. Plus I can't miss a friend's wedding now can I” Sophie laughed “yeah guess not huh.” Lindsey laughed waving Sophie off. (Wouldn't Malakie now if she had a doctors appointment) Sophie thought as she pulled out her phone dialing Malakies number. :--Beep-- Hey Sophie: :how did you know it was me: Sophie asked :my phone showed your face and name: he laughed :oh yea I forgot: Sophie said laughing embarrassed. :So what's up you ok: Malakie asked :yeah I called to ask if you knew if Jas had any appointments today: Sophie asked :no I don't think she did why?: :Well you know how your mom and dad asked me to take her phone to her work today.: Sophie asked :yea I offered to go with: :well I was just there and Lindsey said she was out: :out were?: Malakie asked :that's the thing Lindsey said she was at a doctors appointment: :what for: Malakie asked :she said she didn't know but that Jasmine would be back in about an hour so Jessica’s filling in for Jas right now: Sophie said :really but Jas didn't say anything about an appointment to our parents: Malakie said curiously :I thought so. So what do you think is up: Sophie asked :don't know but let's not ask yet because you know how she is. She doesn't say anything till she needs to or until she's ready ok: Malakie suggested :yea I know but still that's what I'm worried about. What if she doesn't say anything and she gets hurt again: Sophie said worriedly: yea I know but I trust my sister and I know you do too, So let's just hope for the best: Malakie assured :yea I know --Sigh--: Sophie said sighing nervously. :So what are you doing: Malakie asked changing the subject :nothing really, worrying about Jas, being bored what about you: Sophie admitted :same but I doubt I'm as worried as you are: Malakie laughed. :Yeah I'm probably more worried: Sophie confirmed :it's understandable we’ve all been friends since we were little: Malakie said understanding :yea so we've seen everything that has happened to each other: Sophie said :yea...so you want to hang out: Malakie asked :sure want me to come over: Sophie excepted happily. :Nah I'll meet you and pick you up in my truck: Malakie said :ok let's meet at the park. You know like we usually do: Sophie offered :yep already heading out see ya in a bit: Malakie said :yep see ya in a bit: Sophie agreed happily :bye: :Bye --Beep--: Sophie said hanging up smiling happily. Meanwhile Sitting on a bench staring off into space was Jasmine. Thinking and playing what had just happened over in her mind over and over trying to think of what to do
“Your test results came back,” Dr. Williams said his face showing concern. “So what they say then,” I asked looking up at him from the bed expecting an answer but he didn't say anything “what are the results,” I asked again “Jasmine...” “What are the results,” I asked again he looked away. “TELL ME...please,” I said tears building in my eyes my mind and heart already knowing the answer. “Jasmine your results show something that we’ve never seen before, as I told you before the last time you came you remember that?” he asked “yes,” I said softly “well it seems to have spread to your lungs” he explained. “But you can fix it you can make it go away right…right,” I asked trying to get him to look me in the eyes “you can make it go away right,” I asked again “NO! No, I can't make it go away... I wish I could but we don't know what it is or how to cure it” “but don't you have medicine to at least slow it down I mean doctors are making new medicines every day right,” I asked. “Your right doctors are making new medicines every day but the medicine to cure this we’d half to find and perfect before you could take it and that would take years and you have...” he stopped almost like he was choking on the words. “How long do I have,” I asked trying to hold the tears in “Jasmine…” he said “how long do I have,” I asked again slower “I don't know but it's not long,” he said finally. Everything went quiet as if there was no noise in the world. I could see the doctor still talking but I couldn't hear him. My body wouldn't move, no tears fell. It was like my body shut down from shock until the doctor laid a hand on my shoulder snapping me out of it. “I'm so sorry, I wish I could do something to help or do anything for that matter but I can’t,” he said sadly. I looked up and smiled “it's fine Dr. Williams I understand,” I said sadly “I wish I could do something,” he said again “you have already done so much for me." "I wish I could have done more" he sighed "there's nothing more you could do. So it's not your fault for that I'm just glad you told me,” I said smiling weakly. He didn't say anything all he did was stand there looking at me sadly. “Well, I got to go back to work. I'll tell you if there are any more problems” I said hopping off the bed and brushing myself off. “I'll call you later just to keep in check,” I said opening the door “oh and I know this is a lot to ask but could you please keep this between us. I'm not ready to tell anyone else yet” I asked “sure no problem like I said last time doctor-patient confidentiality,” he said sadly. “Thank you and please don't feel bad ok, I'm fine I'll live my life to the fullest like I have been ok,” I said smiling at him closing the door. As I walked out of the doctor's office I felt like I was in a dream none of this felt real. Reaching into my bag I went to grab my phone but it wasn't there I felt nothing except my wallet and inhaler. Depressed, I saw a bench and decided to sit down. As I sat down I looked to the sky I fell into my own little world filled with sadness and regret. “Jasmine...is that you” I looked up to see a black haired boy with bright blue-eyes walking up to me smiling. “Asher...Asher Mclain is that really you?” I asked sitting up “yea it's been a while, how are you?” he asked smiling “--Sigh-- could be better” I said sighing “why what's up.” He asked honestly. “Well, how do you make a horrible day after being told some horrible news better” “well you do your best to make it good news,” Asher said “but what if it's really bad” I suggested. “Well you can still find something good in it,” he said passively “what if it’ll hurt the ones you love most and change the way they think about you,” I asked. “So who cares what others think,” he said half laughing “hm well enough about the sad stuff how have you been,” I asked changing the subject “Fine, Fine, been working on school activities in my new school, I've also gotten a girlfriend" "that's great I'm happy for you" "thanks. So what you been up to. I mean I haven't seen you since what elementary school” he said unsure “yeah although we didn't really talk much back then anyway” I stated “yeah you were always too shy to talk to anybody other than Sophie and Malakie and I think that kid Samael” he laughed “yeah I guess I was really shy back then” I admitted. “Yea but it seems you’ve changed I mean you're more talkative than back then and I hear that you're the Student Council President now,” he said amazed. “Yea I am and it's really fun because now we’re doing a Christmas dance and I get to help a lot of people,” I said blushing “really that sounds like fun” "yea so I hope it turns out well,” I said. “Well, I'm sure it’ll turn out fine. You were always good at helping people and giving orders even though you were shy” he laughed. “Thanks...I think” I said smiling. “Well it was nice seeing you again but I got to go or I'll be late for work” Asher said standing up “you have a job” I asked amazed “yep my first day I'm working at the music store you should come sometime it's really cool” he said handing me a card before he started walking off. “Yea I'll do that well good luck” I offered hollering after him. “Thanks well see ya,” he said walking away “yep see ya,” I said waving (I guess we’ve all changed) I thought to myself “--Sigh-- to bad some changes aren’t good,” I said to myself thinking back to what the doctor said. “Well I guess I better get back to work or they'll think I ditched,” I said standing (although I want to ditch.)
“I'm back Lindsey sorry it took me a little bit longer than expected. Guess I really did need that hour” I said trying to smile “oh hey Jas how’d the appointment go” Lindsey asked “oh um good...sorta…ok not so great” I admitted “oh honey I'm sorry are you ok” she asked “yea I'll get over it” I said smiling weakly. “Do you need to go home?” she asked “NO! No, I don't need to go home. Sorry I just don't want to...I mean if I do I won't get to hang out with Mr. Weston, Mrs. Winry, Mrs. Charlotte, Mr. Adams, Mr. Travis, and Mrs. Sally” I said half laughing “Jas...are you sure” she asked “yes Lindsey I'm fine” I said reassuringly “ok oh and here Sophie came by to give you this she said your mom said you left it at home” Lindsey said handing me my phone. "Wait Sophie came here while I was gone. What’d you say” I asked, “nothing I didn't already know I just said you were at an appointment,” she said nonchalantly “really...” I said nervously (oh god I'm in so much trouble) I thought nervously “well yea I didn't know any more than that. Why? Was I not supposed to tell her you were at an appointment” she said worriedly “no no it's fine I needed to tell her anyways” I sighed “ok well I hope it goes well she was quite shocked” Lindsey confirmed (I bet) I thought. “Well, I better get back to the others,” I said pointing to the sitting room “ok all they have left for today’s agenda are board games then their nap” Lindsey informed me “ok will do,” I said giving her a thumbs up. “Hey guys sorry I had to step out for a while” I said apologizing “oh it's fine dear come and play a game with us” Winry said patting the chair next to her “ok what game y'all playing” I asked as I sat down “cards, checkers and goldfish” Sally said “oh cool my favorite games to play with y'all well, other than shades” I laughed. “You want to play that to sweaty” Winry asked “no I don't think I could keep up with y'alls energy,” I said in defeat making them all laugh. “Well we may be old but I do say we still got it,” Mr. Adams said laughing “you got that right” Travis agreed “well I don't count y'all as old” I smiled “thank you, dear, but we know where old,” Sally said. “Well speak for yourselves I'm young and beautiful,” Mrs. Charlotte said fluffing her hair making us all laugh her laughing along. “So tell us, dear, what's really up,” Winry asked handing me some cards “what do you mean I'm fine, any ases,” I said showing her a red aced card “you haven’t been yourself since you got back,” Winry said as she handed me an aced card. “I'm fine I'm my usual self,” I said shyly “Honey we may be old but we're not stupid,” Mr. Adam's said as he moved his red checker piece. I looked at them stunned by their noticing. Turning my head quickly back to my cards I kept quiet acting like I didn't know what they were talking about. “Was it when you stepped out?” Sally asked, hitting the nail on the head. I looked up at them in surprise as they all smiled up at me “--Sigh-- ok the reason I stepped out for a while was that I had another doctor's appointment with Dr. Williams” I explained, “are you sick?” Mr. Weston asked concerned. “That's just it. They don't know what's wrong with me,” I said sadly as they all looked at me worried and confused “ok let me start from the beginning,” I said nervously all their attention on me. “So the reason I haven't been coming here lately for work was that I've gone to the hospital a lot. Since I've been having blackouts with chest and head pains. I knew this wasn't normal so I decided to go to the doctor in secret to see what was wrong with me. So I contacted Dr. Williams and scheduled an appointment for the other day and I told Dr. Williams what was wrong and what had been going on. So he thought to do some tests to see what was wrong and what was causing my problems and hopefully get some good results out of it but when the test results came back the other day it showed everything other than good results, something they had never encountered before. He didn't know what to do, so he told me to take it easy and to not have another severe attack or it could end badly. I could even end up dying from it. Then yesterday when he called how I was doing but I had an attack while I was on the phone. So, in the end, I ended up telling him about these sparkes I see every time I have an attack and then some. Except ever since this started I just thought it was all in my head, That I was going crazy. So just to be safe he scheduled an appointment for today that I went to. But while I was there I had another attack while talking to him about a close friend, Jack who is Dr. Williams, son. Anyways Jack found out I was going to his father's doctor's office and Jack was mad that his dad didn't tell him about it. Jack was even furious that instead of his dad telling him about it. That he found out by Luke another friend, who I'm having complications with at the moment. Anyways after I got to the office Dr. Williams and Jack were arguing, then Jack stormed out Dr. Williams came running out after he saw me take me back, we talked for a bit then when we hit a vital conversation I started having another attack in front of Dr. Williams. I started coughing vigorously to where I even coughed up blood which made me freeze in fear and worry because that was the first time that, that had happened. Afterward, Dr. Williams helped me to wash my hands off because I couldn't stand straight, he sat me down on the bed and he told me we should probably do some more tests just to be safe. I agreed but when these results came back they were worse than the first. This thing that's hurting me, it spread to my lungs and is still spreading so I asked if there was a way to stop or even slow it down all Dr. Williams said as “by the time they would even get close to any medicine that could help me it’d be too late" so I asked him how long I have but…” I said stopping myself looking to the floor the tears I was holding back close to rolling down my face. “Oh Honey, I'm so sorry,” Mrs. Winry said apologetically causing me to look up to see there saddened faces. It broke my heart even more “hahaha, Nah really I'm fine. I'm going to keep living my life to the fullest making happy memories with everyone,” I said smiling weakly. “Oh, Honey…” Mrs. Sally said stopping herself “good for you,” Mr. Adams said breaking the heartbreaking silents “you need good memories,” he said moving a piece “checkmate,” I said laughing at Mr. Adams confusion of how I won “you mean like this” I laughed making them all laugh. “Ok everyone nap time” Lindsey said walking into the sitting room “well, we will see you soon dear” Mrs sally said “cheer up Jasmine” Mr. Adams said “I am I beat you at checkers” I laughed “you cheated” he said laughing “have a good rest of your day Jasmine” “bye Dear” Mr. Weston and Mrs. Winry smiled “Bye Sweetheart” Mrs. Charlotte said “here cheer up” Mr. Travis said giving me a piece of candy. “Thank you, I'll see y'all later,” I said happily waving bye as I smiled watching them go to their rooms to sleep. After picking up I grabbed my bag and started heading out. “I'll see ya later Lindsey I'm out,” I said waving bye as I walked out “see ya, Jasmine,” she said waving back.
Pulling out my phone from my bag I dialed a number waiting for someone to pick up :hello: a mans voice sounded :Hello sir it's Jasmine Knight the chorus classes helping teacher: I said politely :ah yes helping teachers for after-school lessons is that right: he stated :yes sir that's me: I confirmed. :What can I help you with Miss Jasmine: he asked :well you see I was supposed to work today but I won't be able to come in today well, for quite awhile due to an urgent family matter that has come up: I explained. :Oh guess you didn't get the email: he said out loud :no sir what email: I asked. :Well you see the headteacher Mrs. Eleanor is now on maternity leave so chorus after school and weekends are canceled till further notice: he informed me. :Oh ok well thank you for letting me know sir sorry to disturb you on a Saturday: I apologized :no problem Miss Jasmine have a good rest of your day: he said nicely :you too sir --Beep--: sighing I hung up putting my phone back in my bag “--Sigh-- now what should I do? Should I just go home” (no! I don't think I could face them. I need to tell them, I know that I just…) “--Sigh-- I guess I'll just walk around till time to go home,” I said to myself.
