Chapter 20.

“Daddy! Daddy look at what I can do” I suddenly heard a little girl say excitedly. suddenly seeing her running towards two adults. (Wait, that's me...and that's...Momma and Daddy) I said looking down as if I was floating above everything. (Wait! Why isn't my mouth moving) I said to myself my mouth not moving. “What is it honey,” a younger version of my father asked as he turned around. “Look at what I can do when I sing,” the little me said as she began to hum a melody. Momma and Daddy sat there smiling happily and pleasantly until a beautiful colored light began to shine around the little one. The colors shaping into what looked like the northern lights. Daddy looked to Momma with concern in their eyes. Daddy turned back towards me, concern still in his eyes. “What did you think? Pretty huh” little me said happily. Momma and Daddies eyes saddened even more “what's wrong didn't you like it,” little me asked sadly. Daddy bent to his knees “no Honey we loved it. It was beautiful but let's not do this anymore ok” he said. “But why?” she asked, “it's hard to explain Jasmine so just don't do it anymore,” Momma said stepping in. “Ok,” little me said disappointed as she walked away. Momma and Daddy stood there worried till they turned to each other Mommas eyes tearing up as she cried “oh Peter what do we do.” “It's ok well figure this out we can talk to your aunt or your mom they might know what to do,” Daddy said wrapping Momma in a hug. (When was this I don't remember it.) I thought as I stayed floating in the air watching everything unravel. --CRASH--! A huge crash came from down the hall towards the way little me went. Momma and Daddy immediately bolted down the hall to see little me laying on the floor panting and gasping for air. “Go call an ambulance” Daddy ordered Momma as she ran for the phone. Daddy swooping down and picking little me up gently noticing the blood drizzling from my nose. Daddy wiped it away with his sleeve. Finally, after only a couple of minutes, the ambulance got to the house. Daddy racing out the door me in arms he gently put me down on the stretcher. The paramedics checking me vitals as they rushed me into the ambulance. Daddy and Momma hopped into the back with the paramedic. Both of them wishing and praying for the worse not to come as they saw another paramedic close the door and hope into the drivers set. All the while, while the one in the back with me started sticking the Repositionable Electrodes or the sticky circle On my V1 wire to the right of my sternum. Then he put the V2 wire to the left of my sternum evenly putting it with my right sternum. Almost quickly putting the V3 wire to the left side of my sternum. Midway between the left of my sternum and the left side of my chest. Then he applied the V4 wire on the left side of my chest. Then he stuck the V5 wire directly to the right of V4, at my anterior axillary line. Then sticking the V6 wire directly at the midaxillary line at the same level as the left side of my chest and my anterior axillary line. Once he finished sticking the repositionable wires to my body. He started snapping the Electrode Cables to the metal part of the Repositionable Electrodes. Making the heart monitor started beeping. Momma cried as she squeezed Daddies hand watching them but an Oxygen Mask on my face, with a clip a Finger Pulse Oximeter that indirectly monitors the oxygen saturation of a patient's blood, (what's goin’ on, I don't remember any of this.) Finally the ambulance stopped at the hospital and rushed little me into the emergency room “oh my poor baby what do we do” Momma cried as she held her shaking hands tightly in front of her tears streaming down her face “she’ll be fine Jasmine’s a tough girl she can handle this” Daddy said trying to calm Momma down “but I don't think I can handle this” Momma cried as Daddy pulled Momma into a hug and tightly held her. Calming her down daddy was finally able to loosen his hug and looked at Momma lovingly in the eyes “she's safe, she'll be ok, and she will live you got to think she's out little girl” Daddy said calming Momma down some more “ok she'll be fine I'll trust it” Momma said shakily smiling. Daddy smiled back and pulled Momma to a seat so she could rest and wait (dude what the hell is going on why am I seeing this) (you really don't know why? Well that's you my darling) a strange but familiar voice echoed out of nowhere I spun around looking for the person who was talking but saw no one frazzled I asked (What the! Who the hell are you and what do you mean that's me) (that's you from before you ever met me, before you're father and mother died, before Malakie left your family, before they all came back! You see that's you from when you were just starting to find your hidden power) (who the! Who's talking and why do you know all this) (don't you remember me) the voice said echoing more (well you sound familiar and I can't see you so I’m not really sure) (oh well in that case...) the voice said before fading away (hey wait where are you going? Hey I'm talking to you) I said looking around frantically (I'm right behind you my Blue Butterfly) hearing the voice so close I turned around frantic to see who was talking to me and to my surprise it was a very familiar face who I was very happy to see (Samael) I said happily as I drifted towards him. He wrapped me into a hug as I hugged him back smiling with tears of joy (what are you doing here? How did you get here?) (I know you must have a lot of questions but let's watch first ok) Samael said pointing back down to the younger version of Momma and Daddy “Doctor Williams Oh thank god! How is my baby” Momma cried “she's doing fine right now she just has a mild concussion from hitting her head is all and she's back to breathing normally so she’s off of oxygen” Dr. Williams said professionally “oh thank god” Momma said almost dropping to the floor in tears “did you find out why she fainted I mean there was blood coming from her nose and she was gasping for air” Daddy asked “well in my expert opinion I can only say that the blood from her nose was from a regular nosebleed a lot of kids get them and as for her breathing I'm not quite sure of why it happened, I can only say it was probably caused by an allergic reaction is she allergic to anything you might have in you're house” Dr. Williams asked “no she's not allergic to anything” Momma stated worrily “ok then all I can say is to keep an eye on her and if anything else happens then to come back” he said professionally “ok we will” Daddy answered “can we see her now” Momma asked “yes of course” Dr. Williams said gently smiling towards Momma before he lead the way towards my room. (Ok! I still don't know what's going on Samael) I said turning to Samael with a curious glance (just wait it's not over yet) he said smiling as he watched everything unfold his eyes shining with interest. Looking at him and how his eyes shined so brilliantly I gave in sighing I agreed (ok fine) I said turning to watch everything unfold. “Jasmine sweetheart how are you feeling” Momma asked as soon as they walked in her rushing towards the bed little me was in “I feel fine Mommy” little me said giving Momma a big smile “hey sweetheart you ok” Daddy said brushing my hair back gently “I'm ok Daddy but what happened? Why am I here” she asked confused “what do you mean Honey,” Momma asked shocked “why are we here weren't we at home,” she asked again. Momma and Daddy looked at each other. Their concern showing on both their faces’ then turning to Dr. Williams for answers. Dr. Williams immediately walked over to the side of my bed “ok Jasmine what do you say we play a little game hm it's called ask and tell. You see I'll ask a question or for you to do something and you say or do what I ask” he asked smiling gently “ok sounds like fun” she answered happily “ok but before we begin I need you to remember three words for me ok.” “Ok” I agreed “blue, dog, boat” Dr. Williams said slowly “blue, dog, boat” I copied “good ok first question what did you have for breakfast today” he asked “um eggs and toast I think” Dr. Williams looked to Momma and Daddy who were shaking their heads no “ok what's your full name” he asked as he started writing things down “Jasmine Angelina Knight” I said proudly making them all laugh as he wrote down some more “so what’d you do last summer” he asked “hm well we swam a lot oh and we went to an amusement park it was really fun I liked the swings” “sounds like fun” Dr. Williams commented as he looked to Momma and Daddy who shook their heads yes in unison “say what are you writing” I asked “well I'm writing down all the cool things I'm learning from you” Dr. Williams said showing me the clipboard he was writing on “cool so any more questions” “as a matter of fact I do! Ok next one what did you do last Christmas” Dr. Williams asked “oh well when it snowed I played in the snow Kiki put snow in my shirt it was cold we even made a snowman and woman they were as big as me then we drank hot chocolate oh and we opened Christmas presents and we got to decorate the tree and make reindeer food Mommy and Daddy kissed under something called mistletoe to it was gross” little me said happily “well sounds like you had a blast” Dr. Williams said looking to Momma and Daddy who confirmed what I was saying “it was and Malakie took me sledding to” she said going on “ok where do you live” “I live in a nice house that's like a castle to me I have my own room on the second floor with my own bathroom in the hall although Kiki uses it a lot because his rooms just next to mine” I began “ok Jasmine I'm going to need you to squeeze my hand as hard as you can with one hand please” Dr. Williams said handing her his hand “ok is my left hand ok” she asked shyly taking his hand “yep whichever hand you want just squeeze as hard as you can” he confirmed before Jasmine squeezed his hand with all her might “ok know you can let go” he said playfully “oh yea sorry got carried away” she said playfully sticking her tongue out “it's ok now relax your leg for me, dear,” Dr. Williams asked kneeling with a small triangle shaped hamer as little Jasmine laid slightly suspended in the bed Dr. Williams knocked on the knee muscle causing the knee jerk reflex which is were the tendon below the kneecap connects to the quadriceps muscles on top of the thigh. The hammers rap on the tendon slightly stretches the muscle. Causing the sensory nerves in the muscle to be stimulated by the stretching and send an impulse to the spinal cord causing the knee to move. “Ok can you sit up for me and turn towards me please” Dr Williams instructed “ok” she said sitting up and turning “know I'm going to shine this light in you're eyes so just look at my nose” Dr. Williams said pointing to his nose as he turned on the light “ok so all I do is look at you're nose” she asked as he started staring “mhm that's all so stay still ok” he said calmly but gently as he sat down on a chair so he didn't half to crouch “Oki Doki” she said acting silly “good you're doing great only a few more things to do ok Jasmine” Dr. Williams clarified “ok take you're time I'm having fun” she said happily “well I'm glad! Ok well know I'll need you to follow my finger this time ok while I shine the light can you follow my finger for me” Dr. Williams ashed “yep follow the finger” Jasmine said surly. After shining the light and following his finger for a few seconds he turned the light off and wrote some more stuff down before turning back around. “Ok Jasmine all I need you to do now is stand up” he said gesturing to stand “wait so I can stand on the bed here” “haha no no I meant on the floor” he said everyone laughing as I act like I'm pouting before scooting over to the side of the bed letting my feet hang before I hopped off almost falling before Dr. Williams caught me “ok now take a few steps if you can” Dr. Williams asked as Jasmine held his arms trying to stay standing “yea I can do this” she said to herself letting go of Dr. Williams’s arm. Wobbling a bit and almost falling twice she finally reached Daddy who was standing with Momma at the curtain before the door causing everyone in the room to cheer before Dr. Williams wrote one last thing in her book. Putting me back in bed he wrote down a few more things before turning back to me “ok well I will be back in a bit so I'll be stealing your parents ok Jasmine is that alright” “mhm I'm tired so I'm going to try and take a nap --Yawn-- go talk adult stuff --Yawn-- I'll be here” she said yawning as she turned over to her side“Mr. and Mrs. Knight follow me please” he asked opening the door politely “yes certainly” Momma said “well be back ok baby” Daddy said patting my head before they all walked out closing the door behind them. (Wait so that's me from the past then this is an old memory that's been locked away inside my head) I asked Samael (just watch it's not over just yet) Samael said halcyon (what do you mean it's not over yet) I asked turning back (look) he said pointing towards the younger version of Momma and Daddy with Dr. Williams “is our baby ok” Momma asked worriedly “I'm sorry to say you're daughter she has amnesia. Retrograde amnesia to be exact” Dr. Williams explained “what how” Momma asked agitated “well Retrograde amnesia Is the form of amnesia that affects the individual and will cause them to be unable to recollect events that occurred before the amnesia set in so she won't be able to remember a certain amount of time before the amnesia occurred. The condition is caused either by disease or a brain injury or in your case from when she fainted. Retrograde amnesia affects memory-storage areas of the brain, in various brain regions especially in areas linked with episodic memories because their Memory is poorest regarding events that occurred just before the amnesia set in. Early memories are comparatively safe with memory decline building up to the event and Retrograde amnesia usually follows damage to areas of the brain other than the hippocampus which is the part of the brain involved in encoding new memories, because already existing long-term memories are stored in the neurons and synapses of various brain regions so old and new memories are good. But sadly No cure has yet been found for this condition so we don't know if she'll get those specific memories back or not..” Dr. Williams explained “so she might not get the memories she's lost back” Momma stated as her worries began to grow “well amnesias different for every person I mean it could take seconds or hours maybe even years for her to get the memories she's lost back” Dr. Williams explained “ok well do you know what she can and can't remember” Daddy asked “well from my observation it's just today’s memories from the time she woke up at home and got out of bed to when she woke up here” he said professionally “ok well that's not to bad right” Momma said to Daddy “ok so is there anything else we need to worry about or watch out for” Daddy asked “well I gave her a physical exam which showed me that her reflexes in her legs and arms are good a little week in the elbow down on her left but that's probably from the pain medicine and her sensory function and balance are good but I'm worried that she'll be a little wobbly when walking for today and possibly tomorrow but she should get better and the wobbliness will go away with lots of rest and staying hydrated then there's the cognitive exam I gave her and her long term memory is fine she actually has a great memory for her age the only problem was her short term memories you see she could remember everything from yesterday just not today” Dr. Williams explained “ok so does that mean she won't be able to remember anything that she learns like say she was t go to school later on and learns something new does that mean she'll forget it and won't remember it” Momma asked worried “oh no no you see like I explained earlier she has Retrograde amnesia which is were she's unable to recollect events that occurred before the amnesia set in so she won't be able to remember a certain amount of time before the amnesia occurred which was just today anyways you see Retrograde amnesia usually follows damage to areas of the brain other than the hippocampus which is the part of the brain involved in encoding new memories, because already existing long-term memories are stored in the neurons and synapses of different brain regions so old and new memories are good. So are we able to take her home” Momma inquired “yes all you half to do is sign the release forms” Dr. Williams explained? “Then let's go do that than while she's still asleep” Daddy hinted “sure thing” Dr. Williams agreed? “Ok let's get you guys out of here….um Natalie, where’s the paperwork I ask for” Dr. Williams, asked aggravated “sorry sir but the janitor said the printers busted so he's working on it now. So everyone’s using the printer from up stars. We're waiting so we can use it and since we're a little backed up at the moment it might take some time sir.” Natalie explained while doing her work “ok I understand but I want those papers as soon as possible, If you please” Dr. Williams said sighing “yes sir” she said respectfully. Turning back to Momma and Daddy he sighed “I'm sorry for this but it seems that you might half to wait till later this afternoon if not tomorrow at the latest.” Dr Williams said apologetically “it's fine we understand” Momma said supporting “this happens all the time it's not like you did it on purpose so no harm in staying longer” Daddy assured. “Thank you for your cooperation and understanding I greatly appreciate it” Dr. Williams said thankfully “well I guess we should get back to Jasmine's room we still need to call some people and explain what's going on. So thank you Dr. Williams” “you're very welcome I'll come to check on how y'all are doing in a little while” he said. “Take your time we're not going anywhere plus you have other patients to take care of so focus on that” Daddy said supporting. “Thank you,” he said, grateful. “Well we’ll be going then, bye Patrick” Momma said smiling as she walked through the door Daddy following. “So should we call my sister, and Mom” Momma said asking Daddy. “I don't know I mean we don't know if she has that gift or not. You heard Patrick she forgot all about what happened today” Daddy said “yea I know I'm just saying that I know she still has that gift in her it's been delayed” Momma said worriedly “than we should call your aunt and mother” Daddy clarified. “Ok and one of us needs to call Malakie and let him know that he can have that second night over at John's house like he wanted” Momma sighed. “Ok you call your aunt and I'll call Malakie and John's mother” “ok thank you for staying so calm Honey, I know it must be hard on you, seeing her like this” Momma said giving Daddy a kiss while holding him close. “It's fine I need to be strong for her plus I'm her dad I'll always be strong for her and this family” Daddy said laughing. “Well thank you and I love you so much” Momma said giving Daddy another kiss. “I love you to now let's get these calls over with ok” Daddy said calmly. ”Yep” Momma agreed. (Wait so Momma and Daddy both knew I had these power) (yes but they didn't know you still had them so watch and see what happens it's quite interesting) Samael said interested (um ok) I said unsure as I turned back down towards the younger version of my mother.
