“I can't believe her I mean saying yes to a stranger about the dance I mean I know we went to the same schools but they hadn’t even said two words to each other till today” Sophie complained “calm down Sophie” Jack finally said. “Me calm down how about you snap out of it she is going to the dance with someone she doesn't even know doesn't that upset you” Sophie asked “of course it does I wanted to ask her…” he said his face turning red as soon as the words slipped out “wait for real” Sophie asked smiling “never mind forget I said anything” Jack said blushing frantically covering his face “no way am I forgetting this. I mean I had my suspicions but I didn't actually think you’d go for it” Sophie smiled “what do you mean suspicions” Jack asked “of course I would have some suspicions I mean you showed it a lot of times” “what when did I show that I liked her” Jack asked protectively “ok there was the first time y'all meet y'all where blushing like crazy when y'all told me about it, then at the hospital yea you didn't think I knew something was up but I did. you can't even take your eyes off of her and you got her a necklace which she never takes off plus malakie likes you to so that's a big bonus” Sophie explained as she looked to Jack who was now stunned still “look she likes you to it's just she's never dated or liked someone before so she's confused plus this sudden dance thing has kinda got her shaken up to” “yea I know that I just still don't understand” Jack said “well she has never been to a dance before plus there is the thing that she thinks no one would want to be around her because people always avoided her and think she's a freak” Sophie explained “yea I know! I was going to ask her sooner but she disappeared and I didn't even know if she was going to go to the dance. I was going to ask her if she was going first then ask her but then Luke came in. I mean he doesn't even know her he just knows the rumors” Jack said angrily “wait so you know Luke to” Sophie asked surprised “well yea who doesn't he's one of the most rebellious guys here I also knew him in middle school but really I don't get what's so great about him” Jack asked “well I mean he is a bad boy who does and says what he wants so I can see the attraction but it's a girl thing although I personally don't really like him” Sophie said “really who do you like then” Jack asked “um well...” Sophie blushed “hey Soph what's the emergency” Jasmine yelled as she came running over “oh Jas nice timing” Sophie breathed “really that's good. So what's the emergency you were so in a rush about.”

“Then you came and well you know the rest,” Jack said now covering his eyes “wow I...I didn't know” (I didn't know) I thought revelational. Surprised I subconsciously went to touch my necklace, the necklace that Jack gave me but instead of grasping the cold jewelry I felt nothing (huh wear...wear is it) I asked myself looking around. Not seeing it anywhere I crawled out of bed moving everything out of the way not seeing it anywhere I fell to the floor shocked and sad tears began to build and my heart sinking deeper and deeper “JASMINE what's wrong are you ok” Jack asked as he hurried to me in the floor “it's gone I've lost it” I said to myself “what’d you lose” Jack asked worried I turned slowly to see Jack's worried face (I can't tell him I lost the necklace he got me he’ll be made or sad even disappointed I don't want that but what do I do) “JASMINE” Jack yelled as he shook me “what's wrong what’d you lose” he asked again I didn't say anything tears started to run down my face “Jasmine if you tell me I can help” Jack said sincerely “the necklace you got me it's gone” I said turning away from him (that's what she's so upset about) Jack smiled “look it's fine don't worry about it it's ok” Jack said reassuringly “no it's not I lost the necklace you got me and it was really important to me” I said angrily “hey can you look at me...please” Jack asked. Slowly I turned around to face Jack and to my surprise, he was smiling at me “it's fine, ok I'm not mad or anything ok. To tell you the truth I wanted to get you something better but couldn't. So I can just get you another ok” Jack smiled “no I don't want another I wanted that one because it was the first thing you got for me so it was very important to me” (she's too cute.) “Pardon the intrusion but I believe this is yours. The doctor said that he had to take this off of you when you went into the ICU” she explained holding my necklace in her hands “thank you. Thank you so much” I said walking over to grab it out of her hand “no problem dear,” the nurse said with a smile as she left “Hey Jack can you help me I only have one hand,” I said holding the necklace “oh sure,” Jack said grabbing the necklace. I turned around and held my hair out of the way “an..and there you go” Jack said smiling “thanks Jack” I smiled back “sure no problem know you need to get back in bed and rest” Jack stated “yea yea I know” I said groaning as I crawled back into bed “there we go” Jack smiled --BAM--! Sophie came running in with the biggest smile on her face “he said yes he said yes Jasmine Malakie said yes” Sophie screamed “oh my god for real that awesome Soph” I screamed back “umm I don't know what's going on hear” Jack said half laughing “oh well it a girl thing but Malakie said yes to me and him going to the dance together” Sophie said happily “for real that's awesome sophie” Jack smiled “yeah they’ve like each other forever there like criptonit for each other” I laughed “what not true” Sophie argued embarrassed “oh no it's true way way too true” I laughed sophie flushing red finally stopped arguing and ended up laughing with me “so where is Malakie” Jack asked “oh he's talking to Jasmine and his parents he said he’ll be over here with Jasmines stuff in a sec” Sophie explained “alright well I'll be back I need to check in with my mom she said “I could come here as long as I tell her what's going on every once in a while” Jack said as he walked out “ok see ya” I waved “yep” Jack laughed as he smiled closing the door --CLICK-- “so y'all are all chummy and smiley so I'm guessing y'all made up” Sophie said smiling as she sat down on the bed “what do you mean chummy and yes we made up it was all just a big misunderstanding” I said blushing “oh then what’d he tell you” sophie asked suspiciously “oh nothing really” I murmured as I started fidgeting with the necklace “mhm so he told you he liked you” Sophie said bluntly “WHAT no no he just said he was going to ask me to the dance that that's it” I said fidgeting “oh did you want him to say something else then” Sophie asked smiling smugly “no it's just I feel weird when he's around me my chest hurts my face flushes I get nervous and my hands start sweating and when he's angry or sad at me my chest aches then when he smiles my heart skips a beat and I'm almost breathless and this necklace means so much to me but I mean it shouldn't should it I mean I have necklaces at home but none of them are as special what's wrong with me sophie” I asked sophie frazzled “Jasmine it's really simple and it's the same way I am with Malakie” Sophie supported “ok.” “You like him,” Sophie smiled. She looked at me and chuckled at my expression of loss, confusion, and shock (I...like Jack) I thought to myself “yep simple answer right” Sophie laughed “simple my butt I can't like Jack I'm not ready for that it can't like him, I won't. I can't” I said nervously “look Jasmine I know you're scared this is knew to you because you've been alone practically all you're life and you've never felt this way about anyone you didn't let yourself but it's nothing to be scared of ok it's fine to love someone” Sophie said reassuringly “ugh where's Momma and Daddy I don't want to be stuck in a hospital again for three days it's so boring you now” I said changing the subject “you're not getting out of this Jasmine just accept it you like Jack” Sophie said sternly playing “I don't want to so let's just drop the subject” I said sternly “why can't you just face the facts” she asked “because it's not a fact” I said smart-alicaly towards Sophie “it is a fact so why are you arguing” Sophie asked angrily “because I always lose the people I love” I said angrily “what that's not true” Sophie said softly I looked at her unbelievably “you and Malakie died once and so did Momma and Daddy and Samael is dead” I said clenching the blanket under my hands “that's in the past tho and it won't happen again” Sophie said gently smiling “it might happen again so I'm scared that if I let myself like him then he’ll vanish and I don't think I could handle it if that happened so I can’t” I said determined “you can't decide not to love or like someone it's uncontrollable” Sophie stated “well I can surely try” I said “hey my Mom says she's happy your ok” Jack said as he came in putting his phone in his pocket “tell her I said thanks when you talk to her again” I said smiling as if nothing was wrong while Sophie looked at me and shook her head disappointed with a sigh “good news Jasmine the doctor said you can come home tomorrow” Momma said as he Daddy and Malakie came in “aww but I want to go home now” I said whining Malakie just laughed “what you laughing about huh Kiki” I said pouting “nothing” he laughed “whatever weirdo” I sighed.
