The Grand Canyon

2107 Words
The next morning. The three young wolves, Dora and Mason, leave for the Grand Canyon. Maisie is driving with Stew next to her. Rufus sits in the middle of Dora and Mason. Dora does not talk much and, to the relief of the three young wolves, she is in no mood to sing this morning. She takes out her bag and opens a bottle of vodka. She takes a few long sips. "That vodka is going to kill you!" Mason says. "Ha, you wish! Shut the f**k up! I am not talking to you," Dora says, and to show him she doesn't care what he has to say, she drinks half the bottle of vodka. "Rufus, tell the old hag I say she is being stubborn and should listen to when someone gives her advice!" Mason says to Rufus. Rufus turns to Dora. "Mason says ..." He starts. "I heard what that old fart said. You tell him I say he can go burn in hell," Dora says. "I guess you heard what she said," Rufus says to Mason. "Yeah, tell her I will go if she goes, but with all that vodka in her, she will burn forever," Mason says. Dora moves fast and grabs Mason by the hair behind Rufus' back. She pulls hard and pulls a handful of hair out of his head. "Ouch, you b***h!" Mason shouts and wants to grab Dora by her thin neck. Rufus stops the two of them. "Stop it! You two are like two bloody kids!" Rufus says as he holds them apart from each other. Finally, they stop fighting, and Rufus takes out a rope from his backpack. "One more move out of the two of you, and I tie the both of you up!" Rufus says he sounds like a father talking to two naughty kids. Maisie looks back in the rearview mirror and laughs. The two are both staring out of the window beside them, not looking at each other. Completely like two naughty fighting children. This is going to be a long ride for all of them. "I don't know why you kids wanted to bring him along?" Dora says. "Maybe because they longed for intelligent company!" Mason says. Dora glares at him, and it looks like they are going to attack each other again. "Enough!" Rufus shouts. Maisie stops the truck and tells the two to sit in the back. The truck has a canopy on it, and the two get in the back like two naughty kids. Dora sits in one corner and Mason in the other corner. They do not talk much now that there is no barrier between them. Dora drinks her vodka, and Mason takes out a bottle of his own. Dora glares at him. "Did you steal a bottle of my vodka?" She asks Mason. "Nope, I took one. Since we are still legally married, half of all your stuff is mine," Mason says with a smile. "I want a divorce," Dora says. "No, sorry, we can not get a divorce since we now have three children to take care of. I am not going to let them get into trouble, and I want to protect them and you as my wife," Mason says. "They protected you! What kind of father will you make?" Dora asks. "Well, I guess as good a father as you are a mother. You are drunk all the bloody time," Mason says, looking at Dora. "Yeah, but you and I have always been stronger when we are drunk," Dora says, remembering the time they had been in a bar fight when they first met. "That is true. We cleaned out that bar," Mason says, sipping on the bottle of vodka in his hand. Soon the two of them start talking about the good old days. Before Dora knew it, he was a werewolf. They talk and laugh all the way to the Grand Canyon. The young wolves are relieved that there seems to be a peace agreement between the old couple. They are relieved as they know how stubborn Dora can be. Mason, they don't know that well yet. They are glad they met him, though. They are delighted they could reunite the old couple. Maisie drives until they come to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge with a glass walkway at Eagle Point in Arizona near the Colorado River on the edge of a side canyon in the Grand Canyon West area, the main canyon. Stew and Maisie want to go on the walk. Rufus decides not to go, and the old couple is too drunk to walk on the Skywalk. Rufus decides to wait with them and make sure they don't do something stupid like pushing each other off the edge. After Stew and Maisie come back, they head to the main canyon and stop at the side of the road. Maisie takes out the map and looks at it as it grows again. She wishes it would stop growing! She works out where their next stop will be, and she sees it is Yellow Stone park. It is a fourteen-hour drive. The kids decide to stay for the day, and they book into a Ranch near the Skywalk. They want to take a helicopter ride over the canyon while they are there. They decide to drive to Provo in Utah as that is more or less the halfway point to Yellowstone park the next day and sleep there, then continue their trip to Yellowstone the next day as the children go on their helicopter ride Dora and Mason go to a local bar. They drink, talk and dance. The children are back long before they are, and Rufus is a nervous wreck. He does not like heights, and the helicopter was too much for his nerves. He runs for the loo as soon as they get to the ranch. They have booked cabins. They order some steaks and fries. Rufus's stomach is not okay after the helicopter ride, but he is hungry and eats a lot, just like the other two. They have put on some weight, and most of their scars have healed. They still have some of the deep scars that will most probably never go away. The scars on their soul are the worst. They still miss their parents. They still want to avenge the death of their parents. Rufus has to run to the loo again. There are no bathtubs in the cabins, only showers, but Rufus takes a shower. "I have the shits, all thanks to you two and the bloody helicopter ride!" Rufus says when he comes back, looking clean and smelling fresh. Stew and Maisie laugh. They know Rufus hates heights, but he wanted to ride in a helicopter. He was nervous, but he also enjoyed it at the same time. When they get their pack back, he can brag about his ride in a helicopter. They even have pictures. They took pictures of all the places they went so far, and they knew some of the young wolves in their pack will be jealous of their adventure. The three young wolves go to bed early as they want to drive early the following day. That is if they can wake up Dora and Mason. Dora and Mason seem to get along better. Dora and Mason come to the cabin at around twelve that night, not like Dora, who used to stay out all night and only return in the early morning hours. They stand at Dora's cabin door, and Mason wants to say good night and go to his own cabin. Dora, however, does not want to let him go. She missed Mason, although she will never admit it out loud. "Want to come in for a nightcap?" Dora slurs. They had a lot to drink, and Dora could hardly stand on her feet. She hangs on to Mason. "Sure," Mason says, and the old couple goes into Dora's cabin. Mason spends the night with Dora, and the two can not get enough of each other. The following day they feel fresh and new. Dora and Mason walk out of the cabin together, and he presses a kiss on her lips. They smile at each other and are met by three shocked faces staring at them. Maisie, Stew, and Rufus are busy loading the truck. Rufus drops the suitcase he had in his hands and glares at Mason. Dora is his mother! What did Mason do in her cabin? "You should ask for permission before you kiss my mother!" Rufus says. He is angry. He only found his new mother a few months ago, and now this old rogue wants to take her away from him again. "That is no way to talk to your father, young man," Dora says, and she laughs as she sees Rufus looking confused. Well, now he has a mother and a father again. He guesses it is not so bad after all. "You two are back together again?" Stew asks. He can not believe it is the same two old geysers that fought all trip yesterday. "Yes, we are," Dora says proudly, showing them her wedding ring she is wearing again. Mason does the same. "Well, it looks like we have a mother and a father now," Maisie says as she loads some of the stuff in the truck. The old couple gets in the back seat next to Rufus after loading their stash of vodka. 'Great, now we have two drunks,' Maisie thinks, but she says nothing. She loves the old drunk witch. She looks at Mason, and for a second, she thinks she saw a sly look in his eyes. It must have been her imagination. Maisie still feels something about him is not right. Was the attack staged? Was he a spy? But for who? Her uncle? Her mate? She does not know, but she decides she will keep a close eye on him from now on. She looks at Stew. Since they are rogues now and have no pack or Alpha, they can not mind-link each other. She will need to talk to Stew when they are alone. Rufus is a bit of a blabbermouth, and he can get angry really fast. He will corner Mason and ask him straight. They can not have that. They first need to find out who Mason is working for and how he knew they would be on the mountain that day. They also need to find out if Mason staged the attack on him at Mummy Mountain. Soon they stop to eat breakfast, and Maisie tells the other to go in to order. She wants to put gas in the truck while they order. She asks Stew to join her. As soon as she and Stew are alone, she quickly tells him what she saw this morning and about the bad feeling she has about Mason. "I felt it as well. I wanted to talk to you about the same thing," Stew says. Rufus comes walking to them, and he looks upset. "Guys, I don't trust Mason. I have a bad feeling about him," Rufus says, and the three of them stand next to the truck and look at Mason and Dora sitting in the little restaurant ordering food. They pretend to joke and play around, but they keep an eye on Mason without him noticing. He keeps looking their way and frowns. "We need to find a way to mind-link. We need a pack to do that," Maisie says. "We are a pack, Maisie," Stew says.  "What do you mean, don't we need a lot of members to be a pack?" Maisie asks. "We need an Alpha, you, an Beta, me, and a Gama, Rufus. Our ranks are filled let's try it and see," "We need to do the Alpha ritual," Maisie says, and they quickly walk behind the truck and so the ritual. They cut their hands, and their blood joined. Maisie feels she has become stronger. "What is our pack called?" Rufus asks. "The Full Moon Pack, because at the next full moon, we will return to our pack and claim them back," Maisie says, and she uses the mink-link. It works! The three wolves are linked, and soon the Full Moon Pack will grow. They will get one extremely dangerous member that will try not just to take over her old pack but also the world. If only they knew how their pack would grow, they might not have wanted to find the treasure.
