Chapter 3 - Wanting To Be Free

As the ballroom fell quiet, Livana's father and mother looked at her in shock before her father stepped forward, saying, "Livana, what do you mean you don't want this?" Livana looked down with her head bowed and spoke in a low voice, "I, I don't want to" Livana then heard the harsh words from her father say, "I, can't. Hear you. speak louder!" Livana closed her eyes and took a deep breath before lifting her head and looking dead straight into her father's eyes saying with a cold, firm voice, "I. don't. Want. this."

If Livana wanted her freedom, now was the time not to back down and go for it. "All my life, you have kept me cooped up behind these palace walls" Zadimus then opened his mouth to say something, but Livana beat him to it by saying with her eyes softening and placed her hand on his cheek "I understand why you did, not only were you preparing me for one day to take over from you and mum, you were protecting me. But dad, I'm not a child anymore, I don't need protecting." Livana smiled before proceeding on with "besides, I'm your daughter who do you think I get my determination and stubbornness from?."

Zadimus sighed before then smirking "You are so much like your mother and a lot like me too" Livana's father then took his daughter's hands into his "ok, you can go and experience the outside world" Livana then felt a massive smile form on her face, as her eyes glistened with happiness she hugged her father tightly "THANK YOU, THANK YOU" Zadimus then said "but if it gets too extremely dangerous.." Livana replied with "I know, come straight back" and with that, Zadimus leant down and kissed Livana's forehead "now go" Livana smiled even bigger and nodded before turning around and began trotting up the stairs. Before she reached the doors, her father called out while her mother Kamra stood next to him, "take Ellerosé with you."

Livana stopped to turn around and saw Ellerosé close behind her, Livana smiled at her before she looked up at her parents nodding her head in assurance. Livana grabbed Ellerosé's hand and they both ran to Livana's room to pack for the outside world. Livana was so happy, excited, and nervous all at once. When they arrived at Livana's room, she got changed out of her navy blue dress and into comfortable clothing, Ellerosé said in a low voice when they had finished packing and began heading to the outside world "when are you going to tell them Livana?" Livana looked at her before quickly looking ahead "I don't know yet, someday maybe, but not now.. now let's go!"

Livana grabbed Ellerosé's arm, and began running to the portal that led to the outside world, a bright light then flashed behind them, and the portal had vanished. The portal then opened up, and the two were let out in a dark alleyway, the portal then closed, they began walking out onto the streets. Livana's eyes widened in awe as she saw lights, people walking and chatting, Livana heard cars honking their horns. Livana smiled this world is just everything she had imagined and read about in books back at home in the underworld.

Ellerosé stayed close by Livana "stay close to me you don't know what these people can be like, let's go find an apartment to stay in" and with that, Livana nodded with a big smile while walking, staying close to Ellerosé. As they walked passed a few shops, a small diner had caught Livana's eye, she slowed her walking down to have a look at it with many people inside seeing all the cool décor it had in it. Ellerosé looked at Livana "If you like, we can come back in the evening tomorrow" Livana turned and smiled "we can!?" Ellerosé laughed "yes" while taking Livana's arm and dragging her to some of the nicest apartments around.

When they arrived at one of the apartments they liked, they had brought the one right up the top with a door leading to the rooftop. Livana placed her bag down and ran upstairs to the rooftop when they walked through the door. Ellerosé closed the door and locked it before proceeding close behind her friend; once they were both up on the roof, Livana closed her eyes and felt the wind blow through her long black hair. "I can't believe that we are here; I can't wait to go and explore all of this."

Ellerosé smiled while leaning against the wall, watching her friend Livana express how she felt "well it is a great place, but we do have to be very careful while we are out; we don't know who could be lurking around these parts late at night" Livana turned to look at Ellerosé and rolled her eyes with a smile on her face "don't worry, nothing bad will happen, besides if anything happens I know self-defense" Livana then waved her arms around showing her moves. Ellerosé just burst out laughing "oh Liv, you are so funny, but I'll be the one defending you."

Livana smiled "I know because you are tough" Livana turned and leant on the railing of the fence, looking down on the oncoming traffic and watching the people walk, hearing them chat to one another. "The people look like little ants from way up here" Livana began to say as Ellerosé walked over to stand beside her looking over to see as well "huh, well would you look at that, so they do" Ellerosé then looked up to see the sun about to rise "ok lets go inside and close the curtains" Livana looked at Ellerosé where she had then pointed towards the horizon indicating that the sun was rising up.

The two headed back inside closing the door behind us, before then closing all the curtains around the apartment, making it dark so that no sunlight could get in. When all thecurtains were closed they turned on the lights and went to unpack theirbelongings before then settling down to see what was on tv to watch. Ellerosépicked up the remote control and flicked through the channels before findingone that was interesting to watch, we then waited for when the sun would godown in the evening so that we could go out and explore outside, Livana couldnot wait to go exploring and seeing everything this world has to offer, shejust knew it will be so much fun.
