MATILDA'S INFLUENCE

‎THIRD PERSON POV ‎ ‎Leviathan sat on his throne, his head alarmed by the news that fell into his ear drums. He clinged his fist, his anger palatable as he tried to quench the storm that rose from within. ‎“Your highness, the king of Vrendavin has sowed the seed of resistance against our people. It is said that his highness, king Charles has been spying on our people, he has been planning to overthrow you since the incident between you and the Kingdom of Vikland” Phillip, the new minister of defense said, his tone laced with a lot of condescension. ‎“Charles is an i***t if he thinks he could overthrow me so easily. I built his kingdom from scratch. I made him king, he should be on his knees worshipping me. What makes him think he can challenge me?" Leviathan questioned, his tone laced with disdain. ‎His eyes turning red with rage. The hurt of Charles's betrayal felt like vicious pulls on his heart strings. ‎He was the one who single handedly took over Vrendavin and handed it over to Charles as a show of providence, and now the same mouth he fed wanted to bite him . ‎ ‎“Your highness, king Charles's strength and power comes from the notorious group of rogues, “The one", who seems to be on a mission to get you to atone for the crime of marrying a werewolf princess. They claim you betrayed your race and people by marrying the enemy” Phillip informed, his tone firm. His words were pure, and malice free, but to Leviathan they felt like coal, hard to swallow. ‎At this point, Leviathan could no longer be silent. They had not only insulted him, by questioning his decision, but they had equally questioned his loyalty to his people and had dared to form a rebellion against their queen. ‎“Enough” Leviathan commanded as he rose to his feet, his body now trembling with immerse anger, “Charles has crossed the line, and the punishment is dead” ‎Leviathan then turned to one of his top generals in the army and his adopted mother's son, Larry. ‎“You are here by assigned the duty of taking care of the revolt in Vrendavin. You are to bring Charles's head to me before this week runs out. Am I understood?" He asked, his tone deep and hoarse. Charles has done a number of crimes against Leviathan's empire but this time he had crossed the line, and the penalty was death. ‎“Affirmative your highness. King Charles's head would be on your table before friday evening. This I promise you” Larry said, his voice bubbling with confidence. ‎ ‎Leviathan praised, Larry was indeed a skilled warrior. If he assured that he was going to handle it, he was going to. ‎If Larry was able to suppress the revolt in Vrendavin, he was willing to hand over the kingdom to him as a gift. ‎“Good. Now you may all leave. This meeting is adjoined” Leviathan commanded as he exited the court room to his chambers. ‎Leviathan quickly grabbed a glass of wine and began sipping, but for some reason the alcohol tasted like poison to him today, unpalatable. ‎“Who served me this poison?" Leviathan yelled as he sent the glass of wine flying across the room. ‎Fortunately, just before he got the chance to get even more offended queen mother Matilda walked in. ‎“Greetings your highness,” Matilda voiced as she made her way into Leviathan's bedroom, a broad smile on her face and a large box in hand, “My apologies for bashing into your chambers without permission but I brought you a delivery from the royal cloth maker” ‎“Greetings mother, there is no need for the formalities. A mother doesn't require permission to see her son, does she?” Leviathan said, a frown etched on his face. ‎“That's well said, my son. You truly are wise beyond your age” Matilda said as she placed the box to the side, beaming with pride and Leviathan chuckled slightly. ‎“I'm not exactly sure about that mother cause there are things that still puzzle me, for example what do you think of my decision today. Do you think it was the right one?" He asked, his head heavy with perplexing thoughts. ‎“Absolutely my son, Larry was the best person for the job, and if your question is about whether or not you did the right thing by requesting for Charles's head, then that too is a yes. You are emperor, Levi, and as such there is no room for disobedience. Everyone either follows your rules, or they die” Matilda informed, her tone cold and stern. ‎Leviathan looked down into his mother's eyes as he searched for doubts, but found none, Matilda was serious and she meant every word. It was only understandable that he believed her. ‎“You are absolutely right mother, I would have to rule with an iron fist if I intend to remain in power. There is no room for second guessing or mercy. After all this world had already declared my species an enemy when I was still a toddler. They didn't show my specie any mercy and I would do same” He said, his eyes filled with determination. ‎Indeed Leviathan had been through hell and back, abandoned at 2. He had come to see this world for what it truly was, a mess, filled with selfish people who only cared about themselves and no one else. Selfish people who would happily throw stones at a toddler just because they were scared of what he would grow up into. If the world had already decided that he was a monster, then he would make sure that he did be the best monster they would ever meet. ‎ ‎“That is exactly what I want to hear. You don't have to let the ones who hurt you be able to hurt you the second time. Not those insufferable humans and definitely not queen Porsha” Matilda pressed forward, aiming at elevating the pit that already existed between Porsha and Leviathan. ‎Matilda knew just how much power she owned in Leviathan's mind, and she knew exactly how to capitalize on that power to get her way. ‎“You are right mother, Porsha and her species deserve no mercy, they're the reason why my species is now at the brink of extinction. I still remember everything mother and I will be sure to humble Porsha to the point of no return. I will make sure she crawls on her knees, begging for my approval but there will be none” Leviathan stated, as a warm feeling of pride erupted in his chest. ‎Matilda lips curved into a smile, that was exactly what she wanted to hear. Porsha being ridiculed by Leviathan infront of the entire world. ‎“I have complete faith in you my son. You have never failed me before and you wouldn't fail me now” Matilda voice with certainty. ‎“I will take my leave now. Long live emperor” She added, turned to leave but was stopped by the sound of Leviathan's voice. ‎ ‎“Mother could you please send a servant in on your way out. I will like this dress delivered to its rightful owner, queen Porsha” Leviathan informed, his tone commanding. ‎“Levi, my son. If you don't mind, I will be more than happy to deliver the dress to your new wife myself” She offered with a smile which didn't reach her eyes. ‎She couldn't simply understand why Leviathan would want to gift anything to Porsha, nonetheless something as stunning as the fabulous dress in the box before her. ‎“If you wish mother” Leviathan gave in, “Mother, please inform Porsha that I want her to wear this to tonight's event, and she should make sure she is at the court at exactly 7 pm” ‎“As you wish your highness” Matilda said with a sly smile as she grabbed the box and exited the room. ‎The information and the dress Leviathan just gave her was all the ammunition she would ever need to destroy Porsha completely. ‎One misunderstanding and Porsha will fall out of Leviathan's favor, into the gutter where she belonged. ‎##################
