"Jeez!" Blair yelled as she stood up from the floor. She had bumped into her co-worker, Ben. "Watch where you're going, old man," she said with irritation. Ben burst out laughing. "You bumped into me!" he said playfully. Blair laughed. "I don't have time for this. We need to clean this up before the rest come. I have to get off work early today," she said with a happy smile.
"Oooouu, what's the occasion?" Nancy asked, coming out from the storeroom. "Jeez, you've got bunny ears," she said with a frown. Ben burst out laughing. "She almost has no ears. How the f**k does she hear clearly?" he asked, laughing.
"Haha, very funny, you people," Nancy said, staring daggers at Ben, who couldn't stop laughing.
"I have to go to the thrift shop to pick up a few things for my job interview tomorrow," Blair said with a smile.
"Oh really? That's good news," Nancy said. "So, what, you're just gonna leave us here? We literally started this coffee shop together. It's the famous BBN for a reason. If you leave, it's gonna become BN, and ain't no way you're leaving me here with Nancy," Ben yelled, trying to reach for Blair's shoulder.
"Keep your gay hands to yourself," Blair said, laughing. "And I don't know for sure if I'll get the job even. If I do, I'll clock in by 7. I'm just so excited. I've always dreamed of having an office job," she said with a smile.
"Chill, girl, you're just 23. There's enough time for all that," Nancy said, filing her nails. "True, true," Ben said.
"My parents aren't getting any younger, are they? I need a stable source of income. I'm not saying the café isn't giving me enough. I'm able to live well, but it's not what I want, you get?" she said enthusiastically. Both Ben and Nancy shrugged their shoulders. Just then, two customers came in.
"Eric, Gustavo," Nancy said, walking to the door.
"Nancyyyy babyyy," Gustavo yelled. Nancy blushed, throwing herself in his arms, and they kissed like they were the only ones in the café.
"Get a room, punks," Ben yelled.
"Ah well, you taste like honey, baby," Gustavo said. Nancy blushed hard.
"Babyyyy," she said with a smile. Eric made a face as he headed for the counter and took a seat.
"Blair," he said. She looked up with a smile.
"Eric," she said, placing a warm palm on his hand. "Sorry for your loss. Aunty Erica was an absolute angel," she said. Eric smiled.
"Thank you," he said with a smile. "Well, I just came to say goodbye," he announced.
"Where are you off to?" Ben asked as he swept the floor. Nancy looked at Gusto for answers. He scratched his head weirdly, averting his eyes from hers.
"We're going to NYC for a while," Eric said.
"New York City?!!!" Nancy and Ben yelled together. Eric nodded with a smile.
Blair was too busy counting the dollar notes in her hand. She was barely paying attention. Eric sighed. He hoped the news would have much more effect on her, but she didn't really care.
"Why?" Nancy asked her boyfriend.
"Well, babe, we've got work to do. You know, now Aunt is gone, we gotta make a living, put our head in the game properly," he said with a smile.
"But you have a job at the club. I mean..."
"Oh, babe, I have to work someday," Blair looked up with a confused look and burst out laughing.
"Where did you get that line from? What are you, my dad?" she asked, laughing. Eric joined her and laughed heartily.
"I should treat y'all to a meal," he said.
"I'm up for it," Ben yelled as he put the "close" sign on the café door. Nancy was in her boyfriend's arms, embracing him.
"Not me. I'm not free tonight," Blair said as she wore her coat and cleaned the invisible dust on it. Eric frowned.
"I'll be traveling for a long time tomorrow," he said, holding her hands. Blair didn't expect him to hold her wrist. She shook his hand off. Eric frowned looking disappointed, Blair sighed, "alright, let's go to a restaurant close by, it's only just 7pm" she said looking at her wrist watch, Eric eyes beamed with joy. Ben and Nancy removed their aprons and cleaned their selves up.
"Shall we?" Eric asked, "of course" they nodded, walking out of BBN. Eric and Blair led the way, with Ben following behind and Nancy and Gusto, who had their hands intertwined, they were acting all lovey dovey the entire time they walked to the restaurant which wasn't very far from BBN.
They got there in less than 10 minutes, all taking their seats, Blair sat opposite Eric, with gusto and Nancy beside her, and Ben beside Eric.
A waitress came to their table with a smile, "what shall I get y'all?" she asked with a smile. "I'll have Chinese dumplings" Ben said, she took down the order, "hamburger" Blair said with a smile, the rest ordered and in a few minutes their food was brought to them.
They made small talk while eating. Blair struggled to finish her burger, "you don't have to force yourself to eat" Eric said with a smile, she smiled mischievously and stuffed the remaining burger in his mouth, making everybody burst out laughing. Blair laughed heartily while wiping her mouth with a napkin. She got up to leave, "you're going already?" Eric asked, "yes, take care of yourself Eric" she said and pecked him, "you too Gustavo, don't give Eric a hard time" she said smiling, "my feelings are hurt" Gustavo said with a pout.
"Bye Blair" Eric said as she waved and walked out of the restaurant.
Eric sighed. He'd make so much money that she'd not have to break a sweat to make ends meet.
"Blair is so naive. How is it that she doesn't see the obvious feelings you have for her?" Ben asked.
Eric smiled. "That's what made me fall for her. I'm not capable enough, hence she has to stress herself so much, but not for very long. I'll definitely be coming back to take what's mine," Eric said coolly, watching Blair's back.
Ben arched a brow. "Are we in some sort of romance novel? What kind of cringe ass line was that?" he asked. Eric chuckled.
"Meet me home," Eric said, leaving.
"Aight," Gusto yelled.
"What about the dinner?" Ben yelled, being ignored by everybody. "Nobody treats me right except Jay," he said.
"Gay ass b***h," Gusto yelled.
