I’m stuck in this thick forest, tired, exhausted, and hungry.
“I’ve been walking for days in this forest…. But WHY ARE THERE NO ANIMALS TO EAT. Luckily, I’m a skeleton so I don’t need to eat anything but I still need the energy to survive.” I cried to myself
Walking tirelessly in this forest made my senses numb. Suddenly the bush in front of me rustled and a foot tall hare showed up. With all of my energy, I tried to chase it. I hastily dash towards the hare but as I was following it, I was led to a massive hole on the ground.
An endless pit that was so deep and huge that I couldn’t even see the bottom but the longer I stare, the stranger it becomes. A small dot kept flashing over the darkness and as I glanced at it for a bit longer, that one little dot became a couple of specks and that couple, increased in numbers. It’s the middle of the day but as I look at the bottom, it looks like the starry night sky.
I snapped out of my hallucinations and as I started to back up from the hole, a c***k was heard and the next thing I know is that I’m falling from the hole
*****
I woke up in a strange place where the houses are constantly on fire and the roads are like ashes. I looked around the place and I noticed that the people are weird. They were like a normal human being but their hair is different. Some of their hair is made out of fire and some are water. Some are a whirl of wind and some are vines. I was so confused by the people around me
I continued walking around in this fiery place and I noticed that it’s not only full of fire. In the northern section, the houses and buildings are floating in thin air; and as for the eastern section, there are full of treehouses and vines all around. The southern region was just a body of liquid, I’m guessing that their houses are submerged in water. And right now, I'm in the western part where all the houses are on fire.
I walked in the middle of the town and I saw a sword, stuck to a stone. No one was near it and it feels like it’s calling me, whispering within me.
“Help~”
“Helllppp~”
“Huh. Who are you;” I asked worriedly, wondering who’s talking to me.
“You can hear me? Finally, someone who can hear me;” the voice replied happily.
“Please... Help me….. remove me from this cursed stone” it said with a gentle voice
I was surprised by the talking sword but I asked “how can I do it?”
“Just pull me out from this cursed stone;” it replied.
I unconsciously approached the sword and the moment I touched it, it shimmered. The light was pushing my hand away from the sword but as I pushed forward to grab it, the light grew stronger as if it was rejecting me. Everyone noticed the light that was coming from the sword and they gathered just to watch me as I tried to grab it. I felt I was sort of entertainment to them but I didn’t mind the audience. I kept on pushing forward, I persisted on grabbing that sword until finally, the hilt of the sword was within my grasp. The light slowly dissipates into nothing and the sword starts heating up. I can feel the heat and It stings a little but it wasn't enough to melt my armor. I started pulling the heated sword but I can sense the stone moving on its own. It wasn't letting me pull the sword out of the podium. I used all of my strength just to draw out the sword.
And suddenly, it talked to me once again but this time, it has a deep and scary voice; “what is thy name?”
I couldn’t let them know who I am so I answered “Greed, that is my name”
I successfully pulled out the sword from the stone and the gentle voice said; “ thank you for freeing me from my suffering”
The elementals that were watching started running towards me, thanking me, praising me. They express their gratitude for pulling out the sword but I was so confused about what happened. What does this sword mean to them? Why are they praising me?
Suddenly the stone started sprouting liquid. The water increased and it enveloped the stone. It grew and grew until it became a giant liquid snake type monster that people in my world would call it as a leviathan. The people started screaming and running to their odd-looking houses.
I stand tall in front of the giant leviathan wielding the broadsword I just got. This is the first time I saw it clearly. The beautiful leather and wooden hilt, The thin, silver, double-edge blade that shows my reflection, and at the crossguard a name was engraved onto it.
“ARTHUR”
As I stared into it the engraved name slowly changed.
“GREED”
The deep voice once again talked to me.
“Thy name shall not be forgotten.”
I was wondering where the voice was coming from and as I looked up I was flabbergasted. It wasn’t the sword, it wasn’t the elementals, it wasn’t some kind of deity, it was the leviathan.
“Thou art worthy, now wield thy sword and pass my test;” said the leviathan.
I gripped the sword tightly and asked him
“Who are you and what is your test???”
He replied calmly; “Merlin, that is my name. Thou shalt slay me for I have been cursed.”
Once again, I am faced with a person who can calmly stare at death. I didn’t want to kill him but he lowered his head as if he was bowing to a king. The stone presents itself on to me and I immediately knew that it was his weakness. My grasp tightens and I swing the sword as fast as I can.
CLANK~
I stared at the stone, shocked at what I saw. The sword didn’t even leave a scratch. I was glad that he survived but as I looked at him, he raised his head and screamed angrily;
“THOU… ARE… NOT… WORTHYYYY”
I instantly knew that he wanted to kill me. He rushed forwards and bashed his head to me. Luckily, I blocked it using the sword but I flew and hit the cold hard ground.
