I sat at my desk in the family home listening to the conference call as the king, my father, spoke addressing the formalities of the possibilities of a war looming. The war seemed to be inevitable as the unexplainable human deaths was tolling and the humans were starting to notice, so that meant it was time to take action. In thinking of humans, my mind began to wonder to the little human that has been occupying my home and mind for the past month. She was a hell raiser for sure. She ran away four times on my Beta men's watch, Aaron took pride in his training techniques for his warriors and they were the best trained in the Northern kingdom, yet a 5 foot 4 inched ebony haired human had cleverly escape them and eluded being recaptured by them without breaking a sweat, but each time she escaped I would track her down and bring her back to be under my beast possessive eyes. The last time she had ran away, she flat out asked me why did I keep bring her back if I didn't want her. The question had caught me off guard, but then it made me mad because she was right. I didn't want her, but everytime she ran my heart skipped beats and I went into a panic mood and I would be in a mood of hysterics until I had her back. And just like then I didn't have an answer for my actions and now I still don't have an answer. I had my Gamma, Nelson, investigate her life and was pleased to know that she was established well in the human world. He had also mentioned a love instrest that she had recently started talking to. I growled just thinking of someone else looking at her with desire.
"We'll be in touch with the hunters as we are going to allow them access into our territory. " I heard my father say hunters and frowned. I didn't like the sound of that, but I said nothing, I'll speak to him in private about the idea of allowing human hunters into our providence again after the last time and the damaged it caused.
My father stood and pressed the button to end the meeting call and walked over to the window and peered out.
"So have you accepted Nina as your mate?"
I blinked and sighed, my father was a man of missions. He checked each task off his list with accuracy. So talk of war was settled now on to the next thing.
"I have no choice."
"But you do, I heard you talked with the witch, Gloria."
Why am I not surprised.
"My beast is set on the girl, but I have not decided. And the witch's suggestion is rather barbaric."
My father chuckled at my choice of words.
"At heart my son, are we not beast?"
I said nothing. Remaining silent with me for a moment, he cleared he throat.
"We are having a Sunday dinner here for introductions, the kingdom is wanting to meet the future king's mate"
This was new. So I stood, "My mate has nothing to do with the hierarchy of this family. Nina is not familiar with our world."
My father turned to me, "Then what better way for her to become familiar with her new family then a Sunday dinner. You and Nina will be here at 7 for dinner, I have given you enough time to adjust to her and by the looks of you," he paused in mid sentence and looked me up and down, taking in my denim and pole shirt with an unapproved look in his dark brown eyes, before he continued speaking "you haven't but that is none of my concern. You have a mate and the people want to meet her. The inner circle and a few neighboring packs with be in attendance."
And with that he walked out my office, checking off another thing on his to do list. And leaving me in yet another sour mood.
